My wife and I dined there for the Italian Opera Buffet. The ambiance and the whole Opera singer experience was amazing. The service at times was a little slow as the place was busy but overall no real complaints with it. I would say that the food was just ok, nothing really outstanding - I would have expected a little higher end for the price. Drinks are expensive - only coffee and tea is included with the cost of the buffet.
The vast majority of the buffet items were very delicious and fresh. Overall, a lovely experience and we would go again. My only complaint is that the mimosas were a little overpriced.
Service was top notch. Market buffet selection was good. Live piano music made the dining experience even better.
Decent for a brunch
The food was top notch my favourite items off the buffet are the carpaccio rare beef sliced super thin on a bed of curly endive/frisée, and the seafood salad was amazing nothing was over cooked everything from the baby squid to salmon was perfection. Dressing perfectly complimented the seafood bringing attention to the flavours of the fish not overpowering them. The hot food was a treat all fresh and tasty. The dessert bar so many flavours. Mini Creme brûlée, lemon tarts, chocolate moose to name just a few. The Opera singer’s tonight we’re also a real treat and brought ambience to the meal. Great experience and well worth the money spent. Servers were friendly and attentive.
Great service, great food, great performances. Only good memories left!
I highly recommend it.
I would only ask to the restaurant to establish a strict dress code as I saw people wearing sweet pants and running shoes
Excellent brunch always outstanding wish be cheaper in price to go more often thank you ocean 999 for delicious food
Food was excellent and Server (Sarah) was attentative and pleasant.
Young Restaurant Supervisor (Jon?) is learning his role and gaining experience.
Always enjoy Oceans 999 on Saturday Evenings with the Burnaby Opera Group.
Food was absolutely outstanding! Coupled with a nice bottle of wine and dynamite rolls, the sable fish and salmon were made to perfection.
Beautiful ocean view! We did Sunday brunch and everything was delicious.
Excellent food and great entertainment. I would definitely recommend it for a special date.
Perfect place for a lunch meeting. View was fantastic, restaurant is spacious and quiet and allows for discussion. Food and service are also high quality.
my only comment is the handicap parking. I phoned the hotel inquiring about this. the handicap parking spot was in front of the elevators with an immediate tow away sign above it????? it was difficult to find the hotel parking, it was not marked clearly. The conference parking and cruise ship parking was marked clearly.
It was amazing experience.
Service was a little slow but food was good.
It did not show in the web site that it was a buffet evening - but it was excellent. Only problem was that they had not received our reservation from OpenTable - fortunately they had a couple of tables available.
It had been about 6 years since we last went to the Sunday brunch. The buffet is about a third of the size and selection and was mediocre at best. We will not be back. The only highlight was our server as he was excellent.
All in all the good was very good. The wrapping around the hargao was to thick. Very good selection. They need to give the guy at the carving station a sharper knife though. That serrated bread knife he was using certainly wreaked havoc on the roasts... but he did his best.
The service was excellent and the main course was excellent as well! We had the steak which was tender and super flavourful and we had the Cobb salad which was really good. We ordered the strawberry rhubarb crumble which unfortunately not as great. It was very runny and almost no crumble at all . Overall the meal was great just the dessert was a little disappointing. We would still highly recommend to eat there. Very nice ambiance and again the service was excellent! On another note: We also had breakfast the next morning and ordered the Coconut Chia Pudding! It was off the charts great! Best dish ever! I cannot get it out of my head! Lol! Definitely would order again and again!
Soulless with slow thoughtless service.
We had a very nice lunch with friends. Good food and service in a lovely and comfortable space.
Great Buffet. Not too busy the day we went. Enjoyable. Lots of fresh options and variety. Delicious and a nice piano player. We celebrated our Anniversary.
We were celebrating a birthday. The restaurant, which is located near the lobby of the Pan Pacific, is comfortable and convenient. It also has a fabulous view. Our waitress was very personable—in fact, she was the best part of the evening.
We were so disappointed in the food, however. It was definitely overpriced for what it was. The drinks were weak, the steak was of a lesser quality, the vegetables were over-cooked and the dessert was uninspired. We really expected so much more from the Pan Pacific and unfortunately cannot in good conscience recommend Oceans 999.
they forgot one of our orders and so food came out of order. They also forgot one of our drink orders.
Salmon was over cooked and the skin was completely burnt on to the fish.
Came back from our cruise and staying one night at hotel. We saw good reviews on Sunday brunch. But the crab legs weren’t what was advertised. They were small crab legs and dry. Didn’t taste as fresh. The meats were good, roast beef and the duck. I also loved the Asian items, pork and shrimp dumplings and vegetable noodles.
They also had an omelette station but I was not in the mood for eggs.
They had assorted desserts. The apple strudel and banana cake were very good. The coffee was not hot when they served it. We asked for hot coffee and they did bring it to us promptly. They were very attentive with the service.
Had a great dinner and service was the best ever
Food and service are good. A relaxing place having lunch with friends.
Highly recommend brunch buffet.
Food was fresh and excellent.
Definitely going back again.
It's not something you can enjoy too often as it's very expensive.
Great views, food is very good (could use a little more selection), a Vancouver tradition
Great service always;however, the pianoist is an disappointment to us
Went to the Sunday Market Buffet Brunch the food and service was all top notch loved the Asian/Western mix would absolutely return.
Excellent brunch buffet lots varieties every item taste awesome I go this brunch many times before always excellent
A really good selection from Sushi to Dim Sum to hot meal, Eggs Benedict, Stylized Omelette to your liking, salad bar, seafood bar, desert bar, cheese bar, roast lamb, roast beef, hot fresh vegetables, all the coffee, juices and water you can drink. There certainly was plenty to eat and fresh all the time.
Unbeknownst to us, Saturday evening was an opera buffet. Not being a big opera fan, this was not a draw for me. But given it was hard to get reservations elsewhere, we stayed. Buffets are always risky. The salads and desserts were quite good with lots of variety. The 2 main meat entrees suffered from being on steam table -- overdone and not very appealing. The vegetarian option was a mushroom ravioli, which was quite good. There was a pasta station for individualized pasta entrees. The service for drinks was extremely slow, and the service to remove empty plates while you went for the next course was very slow as well. If I liked opera, I may have been more satisfied. I regretted not eating out on the patio and having a simpler, quieter meal.
If you want to have a meal in a scenic location that offers good food, this is a place to go. For sure, the Dungeness crab cob salad is worth ordering. Best cob salad I have ever had.
Food was good, not great. Service was attentive but our mains took forever. There were only 3 other parties in the restaurant and our mains didn’t come for over an hour after ordering. The explanation was the bar on the other side was full and there were a lot of room service orders. Not good. View is still great.
My former colleagues and I usually meet here now and again for lunch. We like it quiet so we can talk but today the ambient noise was a little greater than usual due to some event being set up on the outdoor patio. Nevertheless, we'd have appreciated a table further away from the activity especially since I'd asked for a quiet area when I reserved. Other than that, the food and service was excellent as usual. Oh, perhaps the coffee is a bit overpriced at $8.00! Just a regular coffee, nothing fancy!
Best service team ever and keep up the good work!!
We had made a reservation as we were celebrating our anniversary. The service was for the most part very good. Dishes were cleared promptly when we were finished. We were initially given a table right in front of the pasta station and I requested another table as I felt there would be too much foot traffic going by our table and smelling the pasta cooking while we were trying to enjoy our meal was not pleasant. It was a special evening after all.
The music did not compare to our previous experience when the singers were Edd Wright, Dolores Scott and Ingrid Facdo. The opera singers were not as good. They were with Burnaby Lyric Opera and I think a couple of them were still students. We didn't hear many familiar pieces. They sang a few pieces from Carmen that I have not heard before and I have the recording that I listen to frequently. I enjoy light opera but I found for us most of the pieces were pretty obscure. One of female singers was brutal when she hit the high notes it was really harsh and hard on the ears. It was not nice music to enjoy while you were having your meal. I will check the entertainment schedule next time before we make reservations.
The food while good was not as good as on our previous visit. They didn't have steelhead trout but instead had snapper in a citrus sauce. Snapper is usually a very mild fish but this dish had a very strong and unpleasant taste to it. I have a feeling that the fish was spoilt. Even although it is a buffet they gave us a special dessert of caramel cheesecake and they put a candle on it for our anniversary. It was really good but we were so full that we ended up leaving part of it.
It’s really a shame the evening turned out the way it did because I had high expectations because of our last experience
We would still return but maybe not as frequently as we would have based on our previous experience. I would definitely check the entertainment schedule before making a reservation.
