Despite the rain we drove over to Maryland for lunch @ Old Anglers' Inn. The COVID19 pandemic was evident as we were 2 of the only 5 customers. I drowned my sorrow in 2 glasses of Viognier & we shared a feta, olive, tomato, red pepper, toast appetizer. Barry had their version of a wedge salad while I enjoyed the pea soup. His entrée was the Angler cheeseburger topped w/ seared foie gras & egg (with fries that were actually crispy!) I chose a BLTC on sourdough w/ crispy fries (most went uneaten because I was already full). But we also indulged in dessert: chocolate terrine & crème brulee. The cappuccino washed it all down. Our waiter was excellent & the sun came out as we left. We will return when the patio opens & the flowers are in bloom.

Beautifully prepared and tasty dinners impeccably served in a magical ambiance of lights and fireplaces. Why else would so many people forego the beautiful old building nestled in trees to eat outside in the winter? To say it’s romantic is an understatement.

This is our go-to place to spend our Anniversary, and we’re always quite happy with our meal and experience in general. We opted to enjoy our meal outdoors near the fire pit and to listen to the live music. I’m sure if we lived a bit close we’d come more often because the back of the restaurant is quite casual. The Old Angler’s Inn is fun, family-owned place with great food and a lively atmosphere.

Super cute little place. Food was really good. Only issue I had was we sat right around a corner from where the serves were coming and going. So every time someone turned the corner they ran into my chair.

Old Angler’s Inn is always reliable for excellent food and service. The setting cannot be best. The rockfish special was superb. The service of our waiter, Erion, typifies the high-class service. Well done.

Old Angler's Inn is full of charm and ambience of an older era. Even though the restaurant is small there is ample room for quiet and intimate conversations. We will continue to make Old Angler's Inn are go to place for family gatherings.

Old Angler's Inn is a great restaurant in a really neat setting (an old historic building). We ate downstairs by the cozy fireplace. The service was very professional and attentive, and the food was great. Most of us had the duck special. OAI is definitely one of my favorite DC area restaurants. Will be back soon!

Overpriced and no dress code (couple next to us in grey sweats for Saturday night dinner). Used to be quiet and romantic- no more! Food was marginal yet still expensive. Waiter was good and friendly but he also knows this place is in a nise dive.

We went to Old Angler's Inn for my husband's 71 birthday and had a wonderful meal. A couple of tables nearby had very loud patrons (from time to time). We all agreed that the spiral staircase from the ground level to the 2nd floor was treacherous. Glad I wasn't wearing high heels for that adventure!

It was our second time there in a month due to special occasions. It is an old favorite going back decades. It is definitely old school in ambiance and menu, but impeccably well done if that's what you want. Every item on the menu is great. The seafood pasta, chicken marsala, crab cakes and seasonal vegetables stand out. Sitting outside by the huge fire pit for cocktails is a mid-winter treat. Please note, the main dinning room, upstairs, is accessed by a narrow spiral staircase. If anyone in your group has mobility issues, ask to enter through the upstairs side entrance or sit in the bar area downstairs.

We were going to take a walk on the C&O canal and decided to get lunch first. It was very quiet and the food was very good. Only one down side is the very narrow spiral staircase we had to climb up to the restaurant room, going back down was not my favorite part of the restaurant. It is a very old place that could need a little bit of TLC. The menu was nice and varied and the waiters also very professional.

Service was really poor. Our bottle of wine was brought halfway through completion of our main entree despite having ordered it a few minutes after we placed our appetizer and entree orders (and after twice asking where it was). Two requests for salt and pepper went unanswered and led to me having to get up and take them from another table. Also, I'd suggest getting a printed receipt as the hand held screen they show you isn't easy to read - though I was still able to pick up that they tried to charge me for the wrong bottle of wine (which was $37 more). We noticed another table was similarly being overcharged. Food was good but unfortunately challenging to enjoy given all the service issues.

Old Bait & Switch We’ve been coming to OAI for many years and thought it would be nice to invite a dear friend to celebrate Valentine’s Day and her birthday. I checked their website and we were excited to see “Valentine Month Dinner Special” where you could choose 3 courses for $40. On Saturday, Feb. 15 we asked our server for the the special menu but was told they were not offering that special due to the restaurant being “busy.” No need to offer the special since they are busy and can demand regular prices. Just maybe people such as ourselves made a reservation for that specific purpose? The server also told us that other patrons had asked the same question. Totally inappropriate business practices from a well-established restaurant. We were shocked and dismayed.

Great service. Food was good not great. Had seafood pasta. Kind of average tasting. Everyone else liked their dishes which included beef bourginon and chicken Marsala. Ambiance is nice, a quaint old place with friendly atmosphere.

Did NOT honor/offer the Valentine menu as ADVERTISED on their website for the whole month of February. Crab cakes were size of a quarter hidden under corn and fennel. Seafood pasta mussels and scallops were the size of a dime. Way overpriced for what we got. Rudely told us to go outside when we arrived early. Seemed like a nice quaint outside of town restaurant, but overall was terrible!

I was to meet two friends at noon. Made my open table reservation and confirmed with my friends. I arrived on time but did not see my friends. I gave the hostess my name and she checked me in. I waited for my friends but after about 7 minutes was seated. I sat at the table and waited another 15 minutes. Finally I recognized someone. The hostess sat my friends at a separate table. We got together, no apology nothing. On leaving I told the hostess that we deserved an apology, and while chewing her food she was unapologetic except sat it once’s while yammering, not cool I want to tell management . My friends were not happy either

Old Angler's Inn could probably survive just based on its location and history, but they do not take that for granted and really do put a lot of effort into the menu, the service, and the ambiance. This place is a real gem.

Our experience of dinners out on Valentines Day have been so unimpressive that we have refrained from doing it for years. This year we decided to head out on Friday Night and give it a go. Thank God Old Angler’s had a reservation open. It was simply outstanding in every way. We got a terrific bottle of Amarone served by our delightful Italian waiter and the most plump and delicious oysters I’ve had in a long time. That coupled with a spectacular fois gras made for an amazing appetizer. The entrees were delicious and perfectly cooked and Creme Brulee for dessert was creamy and first rate. Just a terrific overall experience.

It was my second time there, I came with my best friend whos birthday it was, and our server was so funny and friendly and we realized we were both persian! After that, he was basically acting like he was a long lost relative and was so warm and personable. He brought out a cake with a candle in it and started singing in farsi which was so funny! He then insisted on taking a picture of us on my phone for us to commemorate. We really loved him and the food was amazing!

I selected Old Angler's Inn to celebrate my birthday because I liked the menu selections I found online. I was especially interested because there were several special discounts. We decided to take advantage of the February romantic 3-course dinner special, which was a very good price. We loved the atmosphere on arriving, the valet parking, the lights in the trees, the big bonfire, and the live guitar music. I was surprised that when we were seated we were given the regular menu with no mention of the specials. I had to ask for the dinner special and we were brought a piece of paper with the special menu. Other than that, everything was great. The service and food were both excellent.
