Nestled in the heart of Victoria, B.C.’s bustling Chinatown neighbourhood, OLO pays homage to the region’s trade hub roots.

The name ‘Olo’ means ‘hungry’ in Chinook Jargon, a derivative language of English, French, Chinese and Chinook. The Pacific Northwest was once a gathering place for traders from all over the world... French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, First Nations and more; at OLO these influences are integrated into a cuisine that showcases the Cascadian region.

We are lucky to have access to the forest, farms, and ocean here on the West Coast. We are a restaurant that believes in sustainable farming practices, seasonality, and knowing the stories of the growers.

We were visiting Victoria for the first time and had heard great things about OLO. We had an amazing time! The appetizers sounds so good, we ended up sharing 3 of them and then sharing the burger. Everything was delicious, I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a memorable night out.

The meal started off nicely with delicious farmers bread, decent beef tartare and the excellent fried mushrooms. But much like the Titanic, what starts off wonderfully can end in a disaster. The smoked salmon was the warning shot as it was decent but the salmon was a bit dry. And then came a horrific octopus dish which was buried by dry chick peas and two flavorless slabs of tofu. Wretched. The scallops and pork belly dish was perhaps even worse. It was drowning in corn pottage and an aggravated salted assault of my taste buds. Lets not discuss the final blow, a pasta dish that was overwhelmingly sour in a most unpleasant way. Uuugh. What happened OLO? You used to be a must visit and now you are a major avoid.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Vegan taster menu. It was an exemplary experience, celebrating the local produce, rather then basing a menu around meat substitution.

If you’re looking for a vegan fine dining experience, then I would definitely recommend.

Service was amazing, very knowledgeable friendly staff, COVID-19 protocol and measures were very good.

Good potential but didn’t meet our high expectations. The ambience of the restaurant is pleasant - dimmed lights, good music, all COVID rules applied. Have to note that there was an odd smell in the dinning room (couldn’t place it). Food-wise, we tried four plates - the mushroom toast was delicious, and the pork belly and scallop was also very tasty; we also tried the octopus, which was soft and well cooked, but the sauce was a little too salty. The endive and apple salad was excessively acidic to our liking and we agreed it needed more sweetness. We selected a BC wine to go with our meal, and did not find it good at all. The server took the wine back for tasting at the bar and confirmed that it tasted as it should and it wasn’t a bad bottle. The server offered to take it back but to be honest, I didn’t feel that would go down well at all, and chose to keep the wine - it really wasn’t a good wine (for us? For our meal?). Overall, a pleasant meal but not a great meal and certainly not the memorable experience we were looking for. We had two servers, one who was really energetic and welcoming, and another one who made the whole wine situation a little awkward. Good service altogether.

I took my wife here for her 26th and we were blown away. The service was impeccable, the food was next level (I had a transcendental moment with the fried mushrooms), and the drinks blew our socks off. The bartender, West, made my wife a cheeky birthday cocktail and was even gracious enough to make us some of the best Espresso Martinis and old fashioned cocktails that we've had.

Definately order a few plates to share! Can't recommend this place enough!

If anything, on our last visit October 1, we felt our meal was even superior when compared to past visits. We always order our wine with the excellent guidance of the Staff and we have never been disappointed. The Semolina Cubes are usually our starter followed by Tempura cooked Mushrooms. We thoroughly enjoyed the Octopus prepared softly which is rare in most restaurants. Next was the Alder Smoked Salmon and the Duck Breast. Although they prepare the Duck Breast in different ways it is always superb, I order it on virtually every visit; it is irresistible.

Excellent dinner. Olo focuses on fresh ingredients artistically presented.
The ambience is casual and chic. Attentive and friendly service, and following social distancing and other health protocols.

We specifically went to the restaurant with our son who is a vegetarian. We have been to OLO before. There are lots of options for him here. Two of us had the chef‘s tasting menu. The food was artfully placed on the plate with fresh, tasty, interesting flavours. Our only complaint, the seafood Crudo was presented with mere slivers of fish & therefore very overpriced. Portions are smallish, so we always order extra dishes to share. Delicious choices were the semolina cubes, flatbread with baba ganoush & fried mushrooms. Service was attentive.

Great food, lovely presentation. Staff was courteous. But we were asked to leave at the 90 minute mark. That was awkward. We ate well, drank well, and paid our lofty bill. It diminished the experience a bit to be told, at the bar, that our time was up...

Sat at the bar. Food was fantastic. Shared fresh baked bread, fried mushrooms that would rival almost any chicken wing, a carrot appetizer (including a sorbet that on its own would have blown us away), seafood crudo (light and fresh) and the chicken duo (refined thanksgiving on a plate). All dishes were amazing and the service was exceptional as well. We left full and happy.

Olo is a truly special place, with so much thought and care put into every component on every plate. The food, as always, was exceptional - and the service was warm and wonderful. This is only our second time inside a restaurant in the 6mo since COVID hit, but we felt both safe with all of their protocols in place, and that our experience was not in any way hampered by the precautions. I feel so fortunate that we have a restaurant like Olo in Victoria!

We had the four course menu, one person had the vegan option and the other two opted for smoked salmon and halibut. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and well explained by our server. Covid protocols very clear and appreciated.
