Our story began in 1973 when Greek Chef Lefteris Lignos from Santorini, moved to Puerto Rico and established Zorba the Greek, the first Greek restaurant on the Island. In 2022, his son Alexander Lignos decided to bring back the culture and the hospitality that characterizes his father’s homeland and opened OPA! Greek Kouzina in Guaynabo and Condado in 2023.

The menu, a combination of traditional Greek dishes and new Greek culinary trends, was created hand in hand with Greek Chef Alexandros Kardassis, recognized as one of the “Top Ten Chefs of Athens” with five Michelin Great Food & Value awards, and the traditional Lignos family recipes. All of our dishes and desserts are prepared daily with only the finest ingredients to deliver the most authentic Greek flavor. Also, you can be delighted with a variety of exclusive Greek wines and beers.

I had much higher expectations; even though our hosts and waiters were very kind, they forgot to bring a couple of dishes we had ordered and the time it took between appetizers and entrees was very long despite the place being only half full (to be fair, I saw a lot of carry-outs so probably the kitchen was quite busy anyway). Food quality was average, and the typical Greek dishes such as the shrimp orzo and the souvlakis gyros were not near the quality and flavor that you find in Greece (I know that might be too ambitious!) or in benchmark Greek places elsewhere. The only standout was the cheese saganaki which was really good, and it was a pity that one of the dishes they missed was the shrimp saganaki since its description in the menu was quite attractive. Overall an average experience foodwise so I wouldn’t go head over feet to go there again.

This was our first time at Opa. We were welcomed and treated with kindness. Food was so very delicious as well as drinks. We are going back again this evening.
