The place was pleasantly quiet when we had a light dinner, as most diners seem to prefer the tables outside. Our server was very attentive and courteous. For starters, we had the tuna tartare, which we found bland though the truffle fries didn’t disappoint . The burger was tasty, juicy, and cooked nicely. We ended with macarons which paired nicely with our cappuccinos. Overall a nice place is you’re looking for a nice French ambiance.

We chose this location because it was in our hotel during a severe weather alert. Food and drinks were great. Loved the First Ladies cocktails they offered. Ambiance is a little weird. Small uncomfortable chairs in a big open room with 80s pop music. Price is definitely over $30; open table should update that accordingly.

This was perfect for a surprise afternoon tea for my mom. It felt like we were sitting in a cafe in Paris. The only thing they could have done was to pipe in Parisian music or soft jazz. The popular music was a bit loud and slightly took away from the ambience. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

My first afternoon tea at Opaline was amazing! The tea was delicious, the pastries and tea sandwiches were divine. I was quite surprised when they brought out a delicious glass of champagne as I did not initially see that on the menu. I will definitely come back with my girlfriends as today was my day of self-care and pampering as I just celebrated a birthday. 10 out of 10 recommend!

I was excited to be celebrating Bastille Day with you which is also my birthday. You advertised the holiday like there would be a “party” atmosphere but it was a bit lame. I was disappointed. We went inside at first because of the rain but it was deafening loud in there so we ended up sitting outside. Much better. The service was very good though which we appreciated.

The atmosphere is nothing special but the food was good. We had oysters, shrimp cocktail and the orange duck. We were satisfied with our meal. In the morning the breakfast was quite good and reasonable. The staff is attentive, so all is good.

We were looking for outdoor dining in DC away from the bustle of the waterfronts and found Opaline. It was perfect, back from the street and 15th and H is a fairly quiet intersection in the evening. We shared a bottle of Cote-du-Rhone with the Duck and the Cassoulet. The food was superb and the service was very efficient. Outside the dress is casual and a great way to enjoy a summer evening in DC away from the tourist heavy locales.

Probably better suited for happy hours or more casual meals. I came here with my partner for an anniversary dinner and was disappointed by the quality of service, a menu item that was no longer available, and seating setup which was more casual than I anticipated.

Had lunch here on a Tuesday. Sat outside. Food was ok, but the escargots didn’t have enough garlic, the steak tartare was over salted, and the burger was mediocre at best. Friendly staff, but overall, not a value proposition.

Considering the prices, the food was neither special nor particularly good. Presentation goes a long way in making the food exciting, and it seems as though very little thought was given to how the food looked. Even the plates used were strangely small! The bread was stale and tasted commercially massed-produced. The truffle fries seemed suspiciously like fries that come frozen in a box. With such a desirable location and space, one would have hoped for something much more geared to serious foodies. We were disappointed.

Opaline was a great choice for Mother's Day. We sat outside on the patio and it was very nice. I usually avoid patios downtown but it was clean, quiet and serene. They have a beautiful flower wall, that's great for pics. The service was great. The I presume manager. Was asking around greeting everyone and helping serve. It's great and refreshing to see a leader lead in that manner. Paul was our server and I'd come back just to say hi to him. The food was good and the Mother's Day brunch menu had many great options to choose from. We will definitely be back

We waited over an hour to be served our food. I thought this was up-scale but the noise level was obscene and the restaurant blasted Sweet Home Alabama on the speakers. Do not go here if you want a high-end restaurant.

Went for Mothers Day brunch. Food was good. Something happened during service which ended up in confusion on what tables ordered what dishes. I watched some table not get dishes, others received multiple dishes of the same order, and other tables received other tables orders. It was chaotic. If they do it next year they should have a shorter menu and someone to manage front of house.

I happened upon the Opaline, while they were serving specialties cocktail to honor US First Ladies. I ordered a Helen Taft (or two) and enjoyed it all! The patio is always a great choice for DC weather and our food and server only sweetened the deal!

It looks like a French brasserie when you walk in. Small bistro tables but not too close together . We wanted to try a number of things. My wife ordered fois gras and the french onion soup. I ordered the PEI mussels and the duck fat potatoes. All the dishes were excellent. Well worth a visit!

Thank you so much to the manager, wait staff and kitchen staff for a lovely afternoon tea experience on Sat 4/8. There was a problem with the system which resulted in a reservation after tea hours however they went above and beyond to rectify the mishap and still provide this for us. We were celebrating a special family occasion and this made all the difference. I am grateful for the exemplary customer service and would highly recommend.

The menu on their website was very interesting with lots of creative option. The menu that was offered in person was disappointing. The options from the online menu that we planned on ordering were not offered in reality. We would not have made a reservation if we had know that. The food was mediocre for the cost.
