Named after Chef Francisco’s mother, Ophelia will specialize in authentic Mexican cuisine prepared with a refined, elevated approach.

“Given my strong connection to Mexican cuisine, we saw an opportunity to take advantage of my knowledge and passion and do something truly unique here in Olympic Village,” Higareda explains. “My mother inspired my love of cooking and it will be a true honour to return to my roots and pay homage to her and my country at Ophelia this spring.”

Ophelia will also offer a fully licenced bar serving handcrafted cocktails made with premium tequilas and mezcals, along with local and imported craft beers, and New- and Old-World wines.

I feel so sad reviewing this as my expectations were pretty high for Ophelia due to all the reviews and talk about this place. I’m an avid Mexican food lover and have tried some of the best spots in LA and Mexico and Ophelia tasted nothing like Mexican food but more so bland!! It did not have any sort of spice or Mexican taste to it. We liked our TUNA TOSTADA The POLLO EN MOLE DE LA CASA - the Mole tasted nothing like what Mole is suppose to taste like. Literally ate the chicken The Enchiladas had no taste they weren’t even real enchiladas. The only spicy and accurate thing was the chips and salsa. The drinks were good. I’m so surprised with all the reviews on this place I’m not sure if it’s just that the people in Vancouver don’t know what authentic Mexican is or I’m just super picky. My party of 3 agreed. The vibe is good and the staff is nice. Don’t come here for food

Wish you could phone for reservation rather than on line. I’d rather talk to a person. Did not like or want a high top table, when I was reserving I specified standard table but somehow we didn’t get a standard table. She was very adamant that those were the only ones we could have without waiting another 30 min. She claims my request never came through but our dietary concern did! Strange?

Came with friends for a bday. Service was great. Food was good! I enjoyed my pork belly and all of us enjoyed the food. The bday piece of cake was yummy. Some sort of lemon loaf. Churros was a little hard. Ive had better at another Mexican restaurant. Would def come back.

Food was mediocre at best. I ordered the ceviche and it came out on a tostada so was slightly surprised about this. We were told after 2 hours that we had to leave even though there were plenty of empty tables. Server said that they needed the table but nobody was at the door waiting. This was a Wednesday evening not a weekend. We were ordering drinks etc so not just taking up space drinking water...we were contributing. I would not go back to the restaurant again nor would I recommend it. The room and decor was charming and cool but only wish the rest of the experience matched the room.

The worst experience I've had in a restaurant. The server didn't even say hi, just walked up and looked at us so we initiated the conversation. He asks if we want mezcal, offers no explanation of why we would have it, or what it's about and pours it for us. No surprise we were then charged for their house mezcal that we didn't even ask for. We ended our meal minutes into the appetizers because the food was awful and it was clear that the server couldn't care less. The food is not good and the prices are astronomical. You are paying for the restaurant's vibe and not actually good Mexican/Hispanic food. Please know this review comes from someone who has worked in restaurants, managed restaurants and truly loves food. Vancouver has so many amazing restaurants, don't waste your time and money at this one.

Over priced for what you get. Food was good but not outstanding, which is what I’d hope for for the price. The ling cod and octopus were both ok but neither would make me even somewhat inclined to go back to try them or any other dishes again. The prawn tostada, while the tastiest of the dishes we tried, felt like something that I could put together at home using a bag of tortilla chips, some sour cream and a frozen shrimp cocktail cocktail platter. Even if the price was cheaper there would be other, better Mexican restaurants at that price point and I don’t imagine I’d come back. Margaritas were tasty and the service was great.

Hibiscus flavored margaritas are outstanding Taco trio was a bit too spicy for my taste. Enchiladas were great. Definitely the fanciest Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at.

Really nice food at the happy hour. The Margarita's are excellent too. Server was nice and service was good. I have been there twice now and would not hesitate to go there again. The only thing I wish is that the portion sizes were a wee bit larger. But I suppose since pandemic all restaurants have had to shrink sizes a bit due to food costs. Left with my stomach full and I do like this restaurant. Authentic Mexican food.

AMAZING food and service. The Pulpo was outstanding! Ambiance was overall very classic and upbeat, though I felt the music that night was a little too clubby given the relative posh-ness of the interior design.
