Designed by partner Jean Denoyer, Orsay strikes that difficult balance of sophisticated-chic in a warm convivial atmosphere. Dark mahogany raised paneled walls meet Art Nouveau styled arches in a deep, creamy butter color. The floor is a work of art, Italian mosaic tiles in warm tones of precious metals hand laid in a beautiful fan pattern that floats in waves across the expanse of floor. Banquettes with high wood backs topped with frosted glass panels provide privacy if wanted, and the low, soft lighting emanates from Art Nouveau period chandeliers that Denoyer had custom designed. A 20-foot long zinc-topped wood bar shipped in one piece from France, and French doors that spill onto the sidewalk terrace. This elegant Parisian-style brasserie marries modern French cuisine and classic brasserie fare.

Food good as always, service was very good and it was an enjoyable visit as always (I'm there regularly) BUT BUT BUT we were in the "outside" which had no air, and HUGE radiators right above us, AND the sun beating down on us. It must have been 90 degrees in there, and we were seated with the sun on us. Had we known had terribly unpleasant it would become, we'd have asked to move, but by then we were well into the meal. They really must be more careful about the temperature and qir quality in there. And SURELY it is time now to go back to having it open air, especially if they are going to have those radiators sending high high heat down on us.

I always have wonderful experience at Orsay. Food always wonderful and waiters n service amazingly nice n friendly. This particular night a woman had a serious medical problem 5-6 feet from where we were sitting. We were so impressed at how professionally and caringly all if the employees reacted. How quietly u found a doctor and elsewhere a nurse to help until ambulance arrived. Bravo

Do you miss Paris? Go to Orsay. Looks just like a Parisian brasserie and the menu has all the favorite French plates. The dessert menu has every classic including tarte tarin . I had the profiteroles which were delicious. The service is top notch here and staff was friendly and professional. I will be back

Steak tartare was very pedestrian - no accoutrements - simple quail egg on bland unseasoned beef, with only the house baguette... and the frites a la carte. The sea bass was a mess... serviced on heavy, over cooked potatoes and dense sauce. Fish ought to be delicate and light! Once was a favorite, but like many things.... not the same.

We've eaten at Orsay many times over the years and we think it keeps getting better and better. My frisee salad was wonderful, perhaps the best I've eaten anywhere. My husband said his cheeseburger was the best he had ever eaten. The service was excellent. A delightful afternoon.

Seated in the Middle of the room with 2 kids 5 adults At a table set for 5 and we reserved for 7 My setting was missing Had to ask for a water glass after every one was served water. Tasted the wine, poured everyone except me French fries were cold My order was wrong and it came out after everyone else was done But they have to up their game.
