Osteria di Eataly - Eataly Chicago
Osteria di Eataly is the Eataly answer to the casual yet elevated dining experience. At this restaurant on the second floor, you can enjoy a full Italian meal comprised of antipasti, primi, and secondi in both modern and traditional preparations. The menu celebrates simple, fresh ingredients based on the season.
This was our first visit and we thoroughly loved the environment and the food. Our server Enrique was awesome and attentive. This was right after we had a negative experience with Pizza and Pasta manager lady who came up to us and talked down to our family because we made reservation to Osteria but wanted to order more items from Pizza and Pasta. We didn’t know they were separate. But she definitely could have been more courteous in her exchange. Otherwise we had a lovely experience.
We made a reservation, were seated, and no one came to see us for over 15 minutes. The poor waiter was overwhelmed with tables and that made the service poor. It was not his fault he was doing his best but he should not have had so many tables. We ended up leaving after being ignored for too long.
Went here for Mother’s Day with my husband and 2 adult kids. We had reservations and got right in. It was busy and noisy but that’s expected at a place like this. The server was running around so it wasn’t as attentive as in high end restaurant. We were served bread and olive oil which we ate quickly since we were hungry. We asked for seconds which we got easily. We shared the octopus appetizer which my husband loved but I thought it had too much pepper. All of us loved our pasta selections. I had agnolotti, my husband had penne, son 1 had seafood pasta and son 2had a veggie pasta- it was filled with soft gooey which was delicious. Portions were adequate and not super large which was perfect. After we ate, we walked around to shop and ended up buying olive oil, hard salami and chocolates.
Went for mother’s day, food was excellent, waiter (Angel) was outstanding! There was no pizza on the menu but he talked to his manager and they brought my son a pizza from the pizza station in the store. Prices were very reasonable compared to Chicago steakhouses and trendy restaurants. We will go back.
The seafood was not fresh in my meal, no sauce on my kids meals, the noodles were crunchy.
What a great experience!!
Thank you!! Will definitely recommend!!
I've been to many Italian restaurants throughout my travels but I definitely will return to Eataly as my preferred choice of dining. Excellent staff and felt welcomed, plenty of wines to choose from and to purchase.
i expect better service and overall experience for the money.
Excellent meal for the price.
Highly recommended! The bone-in steak is soooo delicious! Perhaps it’s aged beef. It’s 32oz, so for 2-4person. A little bit expensive: it’s for special occasion.
This place is in a very complete yet expensive store and had a carnival atmosphere. Osteria had OK food, small portions and VERY VERY high price for what you get. Lots of waiters but more standing around than delivery and personal service. I would NOT recommend this restaurant.
I did not enjoy the place at all. If I wanted to eat in the middle of a grocery store, I would have made reservations at Jewel-Osco. It was ridiculously loud, there were people standing in the way of being seated, and the clear, plastic chairs were likely to collapse any second. There was NOTHING on the menu that a normal person would eat.
The quality of the food is not what it used to be. The grilled octopus and half chicken were good everything else was medecor. The servers were very stingy with the balsamic and olive oil, we had 6 people at the table and they gave us about 2 tablespoons of balsamic, when we asked for more they gave us one more tablespoon. Service was slow, I only saw one server for our half of the restaurant. Most disturbing is the fruit flies that kept hovering over our table. Eately seems more interested in serving the transient tourist population then the locals who would return. I am not likely to return to this restaurant given there are so many options in the area.
The service was actually great. The guys there were on their game. Personable. Attentive. I only took my gf for the Eataly experience. It’s something everyone should try once. Eataly’s website advertises that they have many different restaurants but I think once on site it’s confusing. Where is the fish restaurant advertised? I was told it no longer exists. Can I sit anywhere with my food or am I stuck in the one area that I ordered it? Plus although it was nice that they cook with a grill, most of all my vegetable dishes were charred/burnt black.
Overall a good experience. I recommend the company update their website per site, and be specific of what to expect when on site.
We have been here several times, and reach experience is better than the last which is incredibly hard to do because we are always extremely elated which eat meal. The food is amazing and the service was awesome! We will be back next time in Chicago!!
Overpriced. Skimpy portions--especially the cheese board.
Can't go wrong with the pasta dishes here. Everything we had was very good, well done and cooked perfectly. We shared the CAVATELLI con Ragù di Maiale e Stracciatella, TAGLIATELLE al Nero, RAVIOLI al Brasato di Maiale, and POLPETTE alla Napoletana . We couldn't decide which one was the best of the 3 pasta dishes because they were all so tasty and all different. :-)
The food was really good and the wine. Must offer individual invoicing for group.
If you like open air cafeteria style dining, it was so loud it was hard to hold a conversation. The cannelloni were not good, the pork shoulder ravioli were salty.
The service we received was a bit mixed; our first waiter seemed very keen to help us but not very knowledgeable about the food. The second waiter, who took our order, was hasty and impatient. Then the lovely Delilah came and sorted everything out. She was super1 Thank you Delilah!
We loved everything about Eataly, good food ambulance and the feel of an Italian
market, and everyone seemed truly happy to be enjoying the evening!
I was very disappointed with the food. I ordered a certain meal and disnt even get it. And was not asked to get a new meal.
Portions are small & it feels like you don't get much for your money. I had dinner with my son who left hungry and the bill was $88 for the two of us. That price doesn't include the gelato we later got downstairs. Not sure I will return here for a meal. The gelato however, was AMAZING!!
Food was excellent. We ordered family style. You get to sample all the appetizers. Will come again
Great waiter and food was delicious. We will definitely visit again upon our return to Chicago. Highly recommended by many, and joined by a few more from our party of four. Enjoyed the ambiance, the store and all its glitter.
Food was amazing. The service was very good. I think our only complaint was that we must have been under the air vents, and we were quite chilly through our meal & it made our food get cold quite fast. It was still delicious though.
We went for a special dinner, not regualr mendu.....it was good, not great, butr a good valuue. Would do it aagin, but not for regular menu....when we go out, perfer a bit more quite and the ambience of a being in a great supermarket doesnt cut it.. but note, on the way out, bought some brranszino and we had a great dinnerer.
It is a great place to check out. You are eating dinner in the middle of the store, not like some of the other restaurants inside Eataly Chicago which are more of an actual room. Good food but a very loud location.
Noisy fun. Don’t e pest services ft music and candlelight. This is a happinen’ place!
Bucket list restaurant, our server, busser, and food runner was amazing. Even with a 7pm reservation on Saturday night we were never rushed and our courses were perfectly timed. A+++
The food and service was excellent! I will be back soon.
Date night with the hubby, food and service were both great!
You have to try it at least once. I will be visiting again.
We frequent La Pizza & La Pasta with our young kids but the wait was too long so hopped over to Osteria. Food was excellent: Polpo was not salty but was grilled perfect and all pasta orders were cooked to perfect al dente. Unfortunately, found the service to be too slow. The noise level also seemed louder than other areas of Eataly.
A little pricey but restaurant week specials were great value
Dined two consecutive evenings with great service, attentive and friendly
Excited to return
Fabulous meal. Extraordinary server Derrick.
Loved the special 2-course offering yet we actually ordered the 3-course option.
Talked about our experience to others this weekend. Hopefully they will remember to come to Eataly soon !
Our waiter, Angel, was instrumental in making our meal that much more enjoyable.
Four of us met for dinner during their food fest. Bottles of wine and prix fix dinners were very reasonably priced. Food was great! Wine was good. Service was very pleasant. We could hear each other pretty well, but the large open space feels hectic, noisy, and not conducive to relaxed conversation. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the food so much that we will be back.
We came to the Eataly Fest. Both of my friends had only eaten Pizza there previously. My Insalata & Cannollini were absolutely luscious. And our waiter was both fun & helpful by letting me know he could secure my left-over wine (no one was sharing my choice) so it, indeed, could make the El trip home with me! After dining, we wandered the many sections & my Montepulciano had Rustic Olive Pan going home with it!
We went fora week day lunch on our special menu. Chices were fine, salad very nice and meatballs delicious!!. the chicken was not nearly as tasty as the other food but good none the less. The bread we were offered was very good and rounded out the lunch nicely- nonpast a in sight. We got a bottle of bargain wine- an Arneis a grape of which we were fond. As wehadt9 go back to work we were pleased with eh help th waitress gave us to wrap it u nicely.
We enjoyed ur work week lunch and enjoyed th e lower cost.
