   We love the room, and have been many times. However our latest visit was really lacking. Our mains took a long time to come, and when they did was cool to warm at best, definitely not hot. We did alert our waiter and the manager, and they offered to take a couple of dishes off of our bill or reheat our food - which seemed a strange option in the first place for a nice restaurant, to reheat. In the end we were late for the comedy show in the basement we had tickets for at 9:30, so we thanked them for removing the items, paid and left (hungryish). Probably won’t rush back anytime soon.

It sounds like the manager on duty did try to resolve it by removing the items from your bill but I do understand that the experience might still have felt like a let down.     My husband and I went for lunch at the Oval Room. We asked for a quiet location as it was our anniversary. It was perfect. The service was excellent. Everything tasted great. For sure we will go again.

    It’s only the age of the hotel and the ambience of the Oval Room you’re there for. The food is okay, nothing great. The service is mediocre. Wasn’t impressed to be honest. For that price level in such an opulent, historic hotel, the hospitality experience needs to significantly improve. It’s a convenient place to eat if you’re staying in the hotel.

    Excellent cocktails, food, and service. I felt super special and taken care of by our server Michael. It’s hard to find service like this anymore and I love eating at the Fort Garry Hotel. The parking above ground makes getting there a breeze too! 10/10

    Food was average. Service was slow to begin. Sat waiting for over 10 minutes just to have someone give me water and then walk away. No offer for a drink and then another 10 minutes before the server actually showed up to the table. Disappointing considering the usual standard of service there.

    Room is beautiful, brunch menu is limited and overpriced. Food came to table hot ordered peameal bacon and eggs came with sourdough toast unfortunately you do not get your choice of bread. Marmalade accompaniment was delicious.

    Service was horrendous. Prices are ridiculous for a lounge. It was a special occasion and we thought it was an upscale place. Then the jeans and sweatpants crowd came in and if I wanted to see that I could have paid 1/3 and gone to Olive Garden.

    We joined friends for dinner in the Oval Room on a Sunday night. The atmosphere was subdued and elegant. The service was friendly and welcoming (Thank you Fran!) We did not feel rushed although we lingered over our meal for hours. The drinks were perfect and the food delicious. All of it was beautifully presented. My only quibble was that the serving sizes seemed a wee bit small for the price. On the other hand, this meant we could order dessert without overeating and the Salted Caramel cheesecake was definitely a great end to a wonderful meal!
