   Yesterday we had a birthday dinner at the restaurant. There were eight people at the table. The service was very slow. We had to wait about two hours for our food. When food arrived some dishes were cold and we had to send them back to the kitchen. The waitress was very busy with our clients and hardly asked us about the food quality and our needs. The room temperature was cold. AC was blowing at the table. We couldn't light the candles on the cake. When we complained the manager told us the AC is broken. Ah ... So many things just gone wrong.

   Upbeat ambiance, 5-star dishes, service and view! I would recommend trying Overlea for a date night, family gathering or a night out on the town.

   Would have been 5 stars if as others have said, the noise was dealt with. It’s loud but food and service is good. Be patient if there’s an event going on as they do weddings and that will affect food times and availabilities but that’s hit and miss. Great view and location otherwise.

   This was our second time back to Overlea and unfortunately it will be the last time we come to the restaurant when there is a wedding going on at the same time. We waited an hour in between appetizers and main meal and at that hour we were told two of our dishes were no longer available. This after being told that most of the non alcoholic drink choices were not available either. We were open to being given a different dish but what came out was not edible so we literally had two of us leaving the restaurant without having eaten after two and a half hours. Our waiter Julian and Trisha the manager are both amazing and it certainly was not their fault. But running a restaurant where you are prioritizing both the noise and the food for wedding patrons is not sustainable. I would really like to give Overlea a third chance and will make sure I only book when an event is not happening. With wedding guests walking back and forth all night behind us, it really is a brutal experience for restaurant guests.

   Nice space. Very loud. It was hard to talk at the table. The food was good, however they ran out of most of the items on the appetizer menu by 8pm. So we couldn’t try what we wanted. We were rather ordering what was available. Same with wine.

   Our first visit to Overlea and we will be back. Everything about the restaurant was lovely. The floor to ceiling windows, the amazing view, the decor, the comfortable seating, our greeting at the door, our server, the food, the cocktails. All of it. It was all excellent and we truly enjoyed the ambiance and delicious meal. We will definitely return. It is a gem in Newmarket.

    I really wanted this to be great. We arrived (Sat 6:45pm for my husband’s 60th birthday) and were told they didn’t get their produce order in time so the only main vegetables were green beans! Appetizers were tasty but my lobster bisque was luke warm at best. We ordered our mains: my Cornish hen was supposed to come with Brussel sprouts but I had to get green beans! I saw a beet salad so I asked if I could have beets instead and the server said he had to check if they could do that! My husband’s steak was supposed to come with broccolini and a couple onion rings…but now with gr beans (no price adjustment…). Our main meats came out hot but the green beans and potatoes and onion rings were cold! I told the server and had him actually feel the onion rings how cold they were! He said there was a problem in the kitchen and that people didn’t know their stations. Obviously the sides were sitting on our plates for awhile before the meats were ready. We also waited an hour for our main meal. At one point the server finally came out and said our meal was almost ready but they were going to serve the table of 12 first! We were already done our bottle of wine by that time. No apologies. No credit for the vegetables. No free aperitif or dessert for our troubles. Bill was $300. One cocktail each and a bottle of wine. Flavours were good but cold. Do we try again? We are local and want to but ….?! With those prices (competing with the best in Toronto), it needs to be a great experience! We also noticed they were advertising for an executive chef the day we went. I’m happy to discuss my concerns with management as, like I said, I want a local place to be great!
