Awesome pasta dishes!
Delicious! The restaurant acknowledged our anniversary with champagne. It was a lovely evening!
Ovest has an amazing atmosphere and even better food. I love coming here with friends.
Absolutely delicious authentic Italian food. Pizza was better than libretto, grilled calamari was incredible and veal medallions were unreal. Great experience, will definitely come back!
Classic experience at Ovest cucina e Vineria, wonderful hospitality and outstanding food. A must for anyone who is looking for authentic Italian dishes with fresh and vibrant ingredients.
Great service, food and wine. Really enjoyed the experience
The food was good but the service was terrible. Not sure if our waitress was new but she was incredible slow and only took orders from half the table so our food didn’t come out at the same time. She was also unapologetic as was the restaurant.
Nice restaurant with a great wine selection.
Fantastic food and service. Always a great experience at
Ovest. A presto!
We had previously been here once before and really enjoyed.
On this occasion the service was horrible. There was 1 big party in the restaurant( 10 people) and all attention was on this group. There were too few servers and everyone was focused on this party of 10 or so....
Our waitress took forever to attend our table and when she did come took forever to bring drinks and food after ordering.
very disappointing. They did give us 3 desserts for free to apologize but we will not return.
Such a disappointment! I booked this restaurant due to the great reviews as I did a lot of research to find a foodie worthy Italian restaurant for a special birthday on King West. We wanted to try a new place as we have already been to most of the highly rated restaurants in the area. I ordered a pasta with seafood. The server said that the seafood included shrimps, scallops and calamari. When the dish came there were no scallops so she took it back to the kitchen to exchange it. That was great. When it came out the second time, there were scallops or rather miniature size pieces that were very fishy and inedible. I started to eat the pasta and could smell that it was "off" and it was very salty. My stomach was not happy. The waitress offered me another dish but by this point I wasn't even hungry anymore and I had already made 1 trip to the ladies room. I was disappointed that my special night was not what I had planned. The others in my party said they were also not very impressed by their meals and would not go back. The server was sweet but not very experienced. We had to wait for fresh pepper and parmesan as she didn't offer them on her own. I did receive a complimentary piece of tiramisu which was good. The restaurant is nicely decorated but the noise level was really high even though we were in a corner.
Felt like we were in Canteen in the basement of an old farm house. Spacing between tables was fantastic so no one was sitting on top of each other. Great for having one on one conversations.
Would go back for sure - so many delicious choices on the menu it was almost too difficult to pick just one.
Food is tasty, service is amazing, it doesn't matter if they are busy or empty, they are always welcoming. The owner is always there, and that might be the reason behind the excellent service and the quality food. We frequent this place very often, and although the owner seems not to remember us, he and his team are welcoming.
The food is Italian, it is not your daily american pizza place, ingredients are freshed, and is the most authentic, like being in a small town in Italy.
amazing time. We were there to celebrate my parents and they took care of us the whole time. An excellent evening.
Food was incredible, service was amazing and at a very reasonable price. Pasta is always fresh, ingredients are high quality, will be going back very often
Good food. Great wine list. Rookie staff every time we go in.
Burrata was good. But my main dish of Cavatelli with Nduja was incredibly salty. Almost non edible. I think it was a mistake because the other dishes were quite good. It was packed. Great ambiance but service was very slow. I would give it 1 more chance...
One of my favourite restaurants in Toronto!!!! The food is fantastic. A very warm welcome always from John Tedesco. Wish I lived here full time. I would dine here every night!!!!
Thank you to all the staff for such a great experience. Marlene from South Carolina USA
Beautiful and cozy restaurant, and amazing ambiance. Good choice of seating, there's a bar, tall tables and a more traditional dining area. You get a nice view from any table, as the place is very well laid-out and obviously designed with a lot of care. There's a wood burning oven that makes amazing pizza, some of the best I had in the city, hands down; free bread, amazing salad and cocktails.
Love this place.
Small portions but overall very good. Disappointed that there were no gluten free dessert option.
Our waitress was very sweet. She was new and struggled with a few things, but she was trying hard and I know she will be up to speed in no time. The training for the wait staff is impressive and we have always had amazing service.
I took my partner here for his birthday and was overwhelmingly pleased with the choice! To start, the wait staff (Daniel in particular) was approachable, very knowledgeable of the menu and the values of the restaurant. Throughout our meal, he gave us our space so that we didn't feel over-waited on, but also came and talked to us at great length when we wanted to discuss the food and how it reminded us of our recent trip to Italy.
Of course, additional to this, the food was phenomenal. It was gourmet without having a gourmet price tag attached. The beef carpaccio was out of this world good. The gnocchi and ravioli was also phenomenal (all made in-house). The wine was exquisite (and from an area that we travelled to while in Italy).
Nothing bad to say at all. The entire experience was wonderful! Can't wait to go back again!
Arrived earlier than my reservation, got seated to a corner which is away from a party setting (love this arrangement). Food was good & tasty, sure will go back some times later.
This amazing place with fantastic staff saved me at 10:30 on a rainy Thursday evening! I was entertaining a guest from out of town who was leaving the next morning and everywhere else was closed or closing. They held the kitchen open so that we could get our apps and mains order in. Not once did we feel rushed or like an inconvenience to the staff. This was the first time I had been here and based on my experience, and the amazing food, I will definitely be back.
Great Friday night dinner. There was a party of about 20 people, so the noise levels were a little high at times
Food was excellent, service was quick - great for a date night
The service was great from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. The noise did get to us though - found it to be very loud in general.
Great space. Snowy night and wasn't offered coat service. Very friendly and competent waitress. Limited dessert choices.
Ovest has been a reliable favourite for us over the past few years, but our most recent visit was a bit disappointing. Where we were used to bold flavours, beautifully presented, our meal this time seemed a bit uninspired. Not bad, but not really remarkable either.
One feature of an open concept kitchen is one can see what is going on. On this evening I did not recognize anyone who was working on the line. I don’t know if there has been significant turn-over, or if I am just not remembering faces well. But there also seemed to be less energy and fewer smiles among the staff than I recall from previous visits.
I hope this was an off night, rather than a sign of bigger problems.
Food was pretty sub-par. There is way better Italian food elsewhere. Our server didn't know what she was doing at all. It's a beautiful venue, great space, but the food and service didn't make it worth going.
Four of us went to celebrate my birthday on a cold, snowy Monday night. The place was not busy (first time I have been there that it wasn't), I am sure that was based on the weather and day of week. It didn't make a difference though, the restaurant is so cozy and inviting, with great music playing where we could still hear ourselves talk without yelling at each other. The food is delicious, I have never had a bad meal here. This time around we started with the barbabietole (beet salad), and had a combination of gnocchi, cavatelli, and ravioli for our main between the four of us. All plates were very yummy. They allowed us to bring in our own birthday cake, which not all restaurants (very accommodating). The staff were very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back and recommend it to others.
I liked the space and ambience. Our food experience was 'okay' but I had hoped for better. I was looking forward to eating at the OVEST based on the rating and hoping to find a great Italian restaurant in my neighbourhood. I was surprised to find the flavours to be underwhelming and lacking vitality. Every dish seemed to be missing something from the seasoning to the temperature to the texture. The vegetarian pizza was plain with watery sauce, the pasta and calamari was somewhat overcooked and the tiramisu was okay. To be a repeat customer there has to be at least a few great dishes and out of the six food items we ordered I would say only 1 dish warranted a repeat meal.
My boyfriend and I went to Ovest for date night. I ordered the Bistecca. Amazing steak, and the potatoes were crispy on the outside, but melted in my mouth! My boyfriend ordered the Market Seafood Risotto and really enjoyed it. The waitress made sure to check if we had any allergies she should let the kitchen know about. I'm lactose intolerant and it didn't occur to me that they'd put butter on the vegetables or potatoes, so she saved me there. The restaurant had a good atmosphere, and the tiramisu was incredible.
I usually make modifications to my meals and they never ever give me a hard time. Some places give you this look like you're from outer space, but not the waiters at Ovest. Keep making my experience one to remember :)
The restaurant was amazing!! The fresh pasta and pizza dough tasted great. Our waiter, Massimo, was very helpful in helping us decide what to eat and when the bottle of wine we chose was out he, without hesitation, grabbed us another fantastic bottle of wine. I would highly recommend this place and I would definitely go back.
We were very impressed on our first visit.
Excellent pastas, salads dessert.attentive staff.
Excellent all around .
It felt like you were dining in Italy The servers were from Italy very knowledgeable on food and wine
This was my 2nd time at Ovest. The food and service is always excellent. The ambiance is wonderful and it is a great place to have dinner with friends, family or a spouse. Ovest always impresses me, and I highly recommend it!
Too loud WAY too loud. Food was good service was poor felt ignored throughout the entire evening
