Chef RALPH first discovered the joys of experimenting in the kitchen at a young age, having to cook for himself because of his mother’s busy work schedule. A learned passion he furthered through rigorous training and perfected by working his way up, from line cook to Executive chef at Kalalu, Confusion and Knox Tavern.
Every gastronomical endeavor has been, for Ralph, an opportunity to bring something different to the table. While the original taste, spices and exotic flavors of the Tropics are highlighted at Palme, it is this Chef’s ability to bring together the best in creole cuisine by using a surprising mix of ingredients that makes his style and talent one of a kind.
Restaurant Palme, in the end, is nothing less than a labor of love.
Amazing food can’t wait to go back, nice terrasse with nice ambiance. Device is good and the drinks are very good. The food is incredible very teste and spicy the way I love. The only thing it’s the Wine list is small.
Palme is always amazing. Nick was very attentive and went out of his way to make us feel welcome
Toi expensive for the food we had. However, flavor was good.
The vegan risotto that the chef made special was wonderful.
Updated pan-Caribbean classics with slight Asian and Latin inflections. A recently renovated space with relaxed and minimal modern decor enshrines attentive service, excellent cocktails, and a fantastic collection of Plantation Rum. Spice (heat) and seasoning (salt) are at Caribbean levels, so speak with your server if you want your food more moderate in these areas. We enjoyed everything from fried chicken with a stellar seafood Mac and Cheese to perfectly cooked veggie fritters and pan-seared scallops. Daily specials are not to be missed.
We eat out several times per week including cities all around the world. The food here was some of the best we have eaten. Large portions, well balanced, original and unique flavor profiles. Definitely a diamond in the rough!
I loved this place! It's a mix of Caribbean food and international flavours with a very skilled French-trained chef. It was such a good find, because you might not expect such high quality food and a beautiful space on this stretch of Ste. Catherine East. The spicy pikliz was perfect with perfectly seared and sweet scallops and I wanted to try all the rums and rum cocktails – the selection is better than a lot of tiki bars, even. Great service, beautiful decor. This place should be full all the time, but it feels as though it's still a hidden secret.
The food tasted delicious. Portion sizing differs from plate to plate which can make sharing difficult. I’ll be going back for sure.
Great food, flavours amazing and cocktails were great. Excellent service and accommodating to a small menu change we asked for. A+
Delicious, original plates. A great selection or rum. Service was great.
The service and the ambiance was good.
For some of our plates there were a huge lack of flavor
P.S mac and cheese should be cheesy
I found the music aggressive when we arrived. And was then generally all over the place. Not appropriate for a Sunday brunch. We ordered the shrimp crab cake Benedict, the salmon tartar and sweet potato omelette.
The crab cake, although tiny, was good. Not worth the price tag for a single cake. I did not appreciate the tiny baby shrimp on top. The salmon tartar had a gluey texture. The omelette was dry. You’d think that you’d at least get some bread for the cost. I would not repeat the experience.
The food is delicious. Loved the carabean taste. However the music was way to loud for us to enjoy the moment, and the service was desorganized and quite slow.
First off there was no cranberry juice .Any restaurant with a licensed bar should have the basics . The presentation of our entrees was really nice. The cigars were amazing ,the griot salad was tasty but lacking the first ingredient listed on the menu. The Risotto Croquettes could have been used as a hockey puck :(
There were no more handmade jamaican patties but the taco was tasty. The Red Snapper was very tasty from the accounts of the other guests on the table. But the saddest was the Jerk Chicken plate. When the plate came I was happy because there was a lot of chicken but then the plate had me looking for the festival and macaroni pie. The festivals were burnt and the sliver of warmed up burnt macaroni pie almost had me chip a tooth. Some guests were more more vocal about their disappointment while the others just didn't bother saying a thing when the waiter asked how the food was.
If I were to go back I would probably ONLY take the Cigar and tacos as a meal.
I guess the owner overheard how disappointing our experience was and that led her to give us quite a bit of attitude as we were complimenting her on the restaurant vibe itself.
So in conclusion if you have an hr or 2 to kill before going out the 2 entrees mentioned above will give you enough of a base before drinks but don't go there for a full meal.
I was with 3 other people, we came on a Friday at 5.30 PM.
I knew the restaurant does not serve authentic Haitian food, but I took the Big Griot plate to give it a try as the main course. Kimchi dressing was good, however the pork piece was just too big, not as tasty as normal griot (deep-fried small pieces), and not crunchy outside but juicy inside like the normal griot. The salad was ok, the mashed potato didn't go well with the griot.
I took Cigar Creole as an appatizer and it was good.
My 2 other friends were pretty disappointed with their plates as well (they took the half creole bbq chicken and the $45 - very small - plate lambi & langoustine as the main course), however my other friend really liked the grilled snapper.
The waiter seemed to rush us to place the orders. He should had been more relax because we were the first customers to come on that Friday evening and at the end the restaurant was only half full during the evening.
The music was very loud.
only comment was on the plate I had. Fruits de mer COCO. Wish it had been presented on a plate and not in a bowl.
We got our appetizer and our main course at the same time. But of the were luckwarm. The service was not very good :-(
They offered us a round of free cocktails after my friend ask.
Second time at the restaurant. Ordered the 1/2 chicken with the pork chops. Very disappointed! (The 1st time, the half chicken was good.) The least one could say, the kitchen was inconsistent. The margarita came with no tequila. Would not come back again.
We waited 2 hours for our food. The server was extremely accommodating so it was fine, but any other group of 9 might not have been as patient.
Drinks and food were very good! Only complaint was our servers were very slow with our drinks, second course , I had to ask for a simple glass of water several times.
