   Paperfish Sushi South Beach on Espanola Way certainly rises above it's typical touristy neighbors and maintains a high level of food and service found in local restaurants. It only shares the high energy, people watching atmosphere of it's neighbors and that's a good thing.

   Very enjoyable but not sure I’d go back though i would recommend. The food was good — not great — but plated well and tasty. Though the popcorn rock shrimp was fried just a touch too long. The quality of the sushi was fine but not notable and the nigiri was cut paper (no pun intended) thin. For what you get, it’s expensive. The service was top notch — very attentive and they even checked with me to see if I wanted the last dishes scheduled to come out after we had two rounds of food come out because at the start of the meal I had asked if I have ordered too much. All in all, we had a great experience and enjoyed our meal but with so many dining options not sure I’d return. Nothing compelling drawing me back but if you want Japanese and you can get a reservation here versus anywhere else that may be more difficult, you won’t be disappointed.

   Unfortunately this was not a good experience from a food standpoint. The service was adequate and the prices were definitely more geared towards the Miami Beach visitor - no surprise as the location (Espanola Way) is a tourist haven. But, when one sees what one gets for said prices, it is quite upsetting. The sushi pieces were very small, the fish content minuscule. Some of the fish we ‘mushy’ because it had been chopped and mixed with other ingredients. The dumplings and shishito peppers came out lukewarm at best… we were one of a handful of tables so the kitchen should have been not anywhere near capacity. I guess the message here is, charge what you want for your dishes but have the decency to provide appropriate quality, quantity and service that reflects those prices. Will not return.

   Top restaurant in Miami for sure! Our server Joy was so sweet and attentive and the food delicious. Highly recommend the crispy truffle rice with salmon for an appetizer. The espresso martinis were also delightful!

   Truly a must try!! The hamachi jalapeño roll was quite literally the best sushi I have ever had and I am a sushi fanatic! The crispy rice with tuna and truffle fried rice were both excellent as well. I wouldn’t recommend the bao buns (the meat was gamey) or black cod (very fishy) but the sushi was fabulous and very fresh. The drinks were also delicious. Highly recommend Paperfish and would go back in a heartbeat!!

   Good sushi but steak served to cook on a hot stone was a great experience. Server was slow to refill water glasses and didn’t help us understand the menu. We were kind of left in our own to decide and had to ask a lot of questions about how big the rolls were etc. Located in a really neat area so fun to watch people. Definitely would go back.

    Our waitress, Joy, made our experience amazing. She was an exceptional server and was very attentive. The food was amazing. The crispy fried rice is a must and so is the specialty tuna roll!! The margarita and wasabi martini were amazing!

    Food was excellent. This is not your average sushi place, don’t think about a JB roll or the similar mundane rolls, this is more of a former experience. Only complaint was that the food came too fast.

    My wife and I ate at Paperfish this evening. We arrived early for our reservation and were seated right away. The meal we had was amazing on several levels. Firstly the service provided by our waitress Azul, was terrific. She was patient in describing several of the items on the menu as this was our first time here while recommending several. The dishes were served in a professional way and it was obvious Azul cared about how we enjoyed each dish. The food was delicious and the sushi was fresh and presented in a very unique and attractive way. My wife and i eat sushi weekly and we can honestly say this was the highest quality sushi we have had. The ambiance and decor are perfect and along with the service and quality of the food make this a restaurant that you should eat at, as you will be glad you did.

    Don’t order the crispy fried rice. So greasy! The roll we ordered was coated in mayonnaise. Not exactly compatible with raw fish. The restaurant inaccurately reported us to OpenTable as a “no show”. It is possible we just ordered the wrong items. On the positive side, the service was good and it is in a fun location. Overall, not a great experience.

    Made our reservation here on open table. The food is overpriced for what you receive. The staff was very clear they needed us out asap as soon as we arrived so they could seat another reservation. We arrived on time, ate our dinner, got out of their way, then we’re sent a no show claim through open table so they could charge us $80 for a reservation that we attended! Great way to loose customers. Definitely skip this restaurant, there are far better with good service in brickle.

    The food was excellent but the service and attentiveness are what really stood out to us. My wife and I sat at the bar and there was a very drunk and obnoxious woman who arrived after we did ad sat down next to us. As she began to become belligerent with my wife, the staff moved us away from her without us having to raise the issue and they gently asked the woman to leave several times. She refused and the police arrived a bit later. The staff attempted to handle her (and us) discreetly and with class. Especially given how slammed the restaurant was, it was great to see very busy people handle a tough situation with such grace. We will absolutely go back!

    Amazing sushi and probably the best I have tasted anywhere in the world with the exception of Japan where it was on par. Attentive service and relaxed atmosphere made this a great dining experience.

    Sat outdoors and was very fun. It’s very loud, mostly because of the restaurant across the way but we personally loved the energy. The food took a while and the service wasn’t the best but the food and vibe made up for it. Cocktails were so and so. Definitely give this place a try if you’re vacationing to Miami and want a cute date spot.

    Absolutely first rate, creative dishes. We ordered the server-recommended dishes and were very impressed with the flavors and quality. Outdoor seating can get very loud being on Espanola Way on a busy evening.

    Really gorgeous restaurant, incredibly attentive service, lovely location. If you sit outside, it will be much louder but it’s a fun vibe. Having to buy expensive bottle water (or at least not being told there was tap if there was) was a little disappointing. I would say the sushi was the best I’ve ever had, the rolls just felt a little small for the price. Also insanely good cocktails. But overall, it was a great experience. Went for a birthday dinner and was more than happy with everything!!!

    Anniversary dinner. Service was great. Food quality was not good. Ordered a couple of things from happy hour to start that came out within seconds. No way was this freshly made sushi rolls. The ceviche was bland and unseasoned. We didn’t stick around for dinner as all the first few dishes were disappointing. Sorry.

    On our recent first visit to this new restaurant, we had reservations for 6:30 pm. When we realized that a half hour of happy hour prices was left, we happily ordered some bites and saki from that menu. Everything was delicious, especially the spicy tuna roll and the pork gyoza. From the regular menu, we ordered the acevichado roll with shrimp katsu and avocado and shiromi (whitefish), which we loved. We were intrigued by several items on the main menu, which we'll save for next time. Our server was friendly, sweet and efficient. The location on Espanola Way is always fun for people-watching and ambience, so sit outside. We skipped dessert, but after we were strolling away we fell victim to the gelato shop nearby on Espanola, called Konos!
