Tucked away in an old sandstone warehouse on Hobart’s iconic waterfront, Peacock and Jones is a hidden gem that celebrates the beauty of Tasmanian food. If you’re passionate about local produce, give us a visit; from your prime position in the open kitchen you’ll see your food as it’s sliced, smell it as it’s seasoned and hear it as it sizzles. Or, if you’re the kind who likes to be surprised, enjoy a spot in the under-croft away from the kitchen and surround yourself in the remarkable relics of a jam-making enterprise. Our tastings menus are constantly changing, because our dishes are driven by what Tasmania grows, completed by a locally-inspired wine list brimming with examples of Tasmanian terroir.

This is such a friendly and beautiful restaurant in an iconic location with an interesting story. We shoes the wine-paired degustation and also went with vegetarian options. It was a beautiful night all round made especially lovely by our waiter Sonia and some friendly chats with nearly tables.

Excellent experience all round. We were really impressed. We went to Landscape this evening and were disappointed with the lack of ambience (soccer houlagans with lots of noise which the staff were happy to allow to happen - like being at the pub) . Well done Peacock and Jones for setting a new standard in Hobart Landscape has gone backwards.

Had the $100 experience, an experience we would not recommend or repeat! While the shared starters look appealing, really only the wallaby tartare delivered. It was tasty & looked great on the plate. The stracciatella was lacking in flavour, even the lovely bits of saltbush couldn't help. The octopus was ok at best. The local line caught fish was apparently stripey trumpeter, but it wouldn't matter what it was, it was overcooked, dry & the cauliflower cream just didn't work or help it. The porchetta needed more sauce to cut through the fat even though the raddichio helped a bit, the pear was hard & therefore pointless. Salad was nice, potatoes were dry & unappealing. Dessert was good but not amazing. Overall, spending over $300 with wine, it was a really disappointing dining experience.

The beautiful ambiance is a facade to hide the overcooked, try-hard, and just average meal you get here. Honestly this made me crave McDonalds afterwards… Try a cheaper, newer restaurant on your next date night.

Wonderful historic venue and a very well put together menu. The wine pairing complemented the menu, and some of the techniques like the wouster pearls made for a wonderful fine dining experience. The only complaint would be the whisky, it was not on the same level and the cheese board would be better paired with something like the Lark Tasmanian peated.

Everything about the experience was quality and professionally delivered without fuss. From arriving to departing we were provided excellent service by knowledgeable staff that spoke with enthusiasm about their menu, products and producers. The restaurant itself was the perfect setting for our meal. Would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a high quality, fine dining experience.

Very intimate, quite a small space but food was amazing! I had the 3 course meal, the wallaby tartare was an experience but definitely a good entree. My main was the riesling which had very crispy skin and the sauce was really uniqe, the potatoes on the side just made it so filling and seasoned well. I am not usually a fan of sweets but the hazelnut later cake with yuzu is a reason why I would come back next week.

Peacock & Jones is a brilliant place to dine for any occasion. The food and service are excellent. We especially enjoyed the fact that all the dishes were sourced from local Tasmanian produce. Each dish was beautifully prepared and tasted amazing! Of course, no establishment is only as good as the team. I must commend Gideon and Shane for their service on the night. They made our evening that more special through their efforts!!

The food is excellent and really allows the foods natural frwsh flavor to shine! The room is perfectly sized and the ambience wonderful. The wine choices were well matched and wonderful value. Yeah it's expensive but it is excellent value! For comparison I'd pay 1200 in Sydney for the same experience. Gideon was also a standout in navigating the meal and attending to our requests and gently supervising the other staff. I don't think there is anything one could find fault with here!!!

The food and service was very good. Interesting flavour profiles and beautifully presented dishes. The wine pairings we had were excellent and explained very well by our sommelier. Just two gripes - One member of our party had a food allergy. The course options to replace the fish and nut dishes were interesting and tasty. However no alternative was offered for the oysters this diner had to miss - a small detail but somewhat irritating. The biggest problem is the state of the toilets. They are in a shared part of the complex and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in preparation for the dinner service (e.g. paper towel and mess on the floor in both male and female toilets.) This is problematic for the restaurant staff but maybe something that might have to be included in the service job list. Overall a very enjoyable experience which I highly recommend to those who like imaginatively prepared local produce.

Really dissapointed in our experience at Peacock and Jones. We thought given the pedigree and price we would have been for a great example of Tasmanian food and Hospitality. The food was generally ok although some definite misses and undewhelming dishes. The service was really lacking, it felt really rushed, the team were not very knowledgeable about the menu or the wine and did not create any type of "experience" woukd not recommend the premium exprience for $260 per person

Mediocre food but very confusing service.. From the start the lady can’t stop giggling when explaining the menu, when she was told twice I’m not expecting anyone I’m eating alone, she insisted on keeping two other sets of cutlery on the table. A waiter tried to take off the food without even asking if I’m finished. Definitely memorable experience..

Lots of care went into the cooking and presentation of food . The 2 oysters were very fresh and worth the extra $10 pp. the flavours of the dishes were innovative and tasty . The lamb is outstanding . The only disappointment is the dessert , can do better . But all in all a very enjoyable fine dining experience

Really great staff and setting. A beautiful place and the staff both professional, friendly and knowledgeable. The first 4 dishes where incredible, but everything when south from there. Spanish Mac and a curry sauce was a total mismatch. The venison was avarage at best, not cooked to a high standard or the meat cut was not well picked as it wasn't tender to eat. I write this in the hope they will update the menu, as everything else was 5star, but the food just wasn't up there. It's like the chef ran out of ideas after the first 4 courses.
