A very disappointing experience considering the pedigree of the owner. The food was not great and the service was manic even though the restaurant was only a third full. Based on the overall experience the pricing was way over the top.

Shame about the service as the food is excellent as is the ambience. Went for a 7.30 dinner with the intention of finishing early enough to see Vivid. By the time the bill was paid it was 11pm & Vivid was over.

The food is safe gourmet paddock to plate style. The presentation is primitive such as full duck in a pan. The setting is in hotel lobby so noise can be quiet or noisier, though pleasant. Staff are experienced and knowledgable about menu.

The restaurant is very loud and the menu is very limited. That said, we enjoyed our dinner very much. It is very convenient in the Four Seasons, and the service is very good (as expected). Limited entrees. Try the Pippis though, they are really fresh. If you go, you MUST have the lamb roast for two. Wow. Super tender. Huge portion. It is really superb and a highlight. Definitely a good restaurant in a great location.

The food was boring. My entrée was a fennel salad that consisted of half a fennel sliced on a plate, a few pieces of mint jelly and a garnish of dill - not especially imaginative! The main was chicken (they had run out of the snapper), pan roasted with Jerusalem artichokes. That was it. Service was professional once you could find a waiter. It's a big restaurant and when it got busy, there were too few staff. The Good Food Guide gives it 15.5 out of 20. 13 is closer to the mark.

Pei M was actually a touch disappointing for us after reading reviews . Far too cafeteria like for our taste and expectations . We cancelled a booking at Rockpool for Pei and we're sorry . Food and wine just ok but ambience not as good as expected

Initially our waiter had an attitude when asked to indicate which dishes were vegetarian.Our started were lovely. All three dishes for our main course (duck, pumpkin, and ricotta dumplings) arrived at room temperature. When we indicated this they were quickly taken away and the manager was very apologetic. However, when they arrived back they were only slightly warmer.My duck was served in copper pan on top of a stoggy orange sauce and burnt, acrid mandarin pieces.

The food at Pei Modern was fantastic - the dishes are innovative, with amazing flavours. The food is designed for sharing, which makes the restaurant feel relaxed. The wine list was well chosen, with some very interesting bottles. Excellent service, and a great atmosphere. Will definitely return.

The food was good, service excellent but the menu ingredients try too hard which then really limits the audience it will attract (like say Biota does) hence it was maybe 40% full.. As an example the beetroot salad comes with black soot sprinkled all over it? Unnecessary when adds nothing to flavour and makes the plate look dirty. The snapper was just undercooked but fine, nettle butter adventurous but not a sauce I would order again. Try it but think the food tries too hard for the sake of it.

Bloody ripper tucker here.We smashed chicken, duck, lamb - all the good stuff!Delicious bottle of red to wash it all down, and a fantastic desert as a topper. Plus a cognac to complete the dinner.

A very appetising menu even though we were only have the fixed menu. We informed our waitress that we were attending the symphony and our courses were served swiftly and at appropriate intervals. We thus were able to relax and enjoy our meal. All staff members we came into contact with whether attending our table or not were most courteous and friendly - so very refreshing!

It was an enjoyable dinner and better than I expected. The only thing is service level is a bit slow. They were great but needed effort to get their attention as it was busy at the restaurant and they were short staffed.

Overall I liked the restaurant but needs a little attention to compliment a 5 star hotel. Mainly around front of house training.Twice we had a drinks waiter ask us for a drinks order after we had given it to our waiter. The lamb was very good, but short of excellent (perhaps a little bit more umami flavor needed?)Only feedback was because the restaurant was already informed that this was birthday celebration, our usher did not pass the message on to our server and kitchen, who were oblivious that it was a birthday celebration.I missed our server's name, but he mentioned he's from Argentina. He was a pleasant chap and recommended us the meringue for dessert, which was delicious!

Interesting dishes, including things we love but make at home (eg sweetbreads ). The aervice is superb. PEI is an excellent choice for pre-theatre dinners given the location and ability to serve an excellent meal fairly quickly.
