We are not a ‘fancy pants’ establishment. Not in the least. We offer good quality, home-cooked, locally sourced (where possible) food. 90% of our menu is made on the premises. Certainly not ‘Pub Grub’ but not ‘Gastro Pub’ either. It’s good value for money. However, our standards are high, very high. Not only in the quality of the food that comes into and leaves the kitchen but also in the presentation, the delivery to the table and overall customer service. We’re definitely not ‘Silver Service’ either but all of our staff are attentive, smartly dressed and will always go that extra mile wherever they can. These are just some of the reasons we were awarded the Taste of the West GOLD award in 2019.
We are a dog friendly establishment, very dog friendly. However, please tell us at the time of booking so that we can place you in our Bar area , as opposed to our Restaurant.

Once again an excellent carvery at Penn Mill. It can even satisfy an 17 year old - still growing, ever hungry, 6’1”! Attentive staff and reasonable prices.

Excellent food, as always. Nothing too much trouble for the chef, he swapped my chips for extra mushrooms, and the tweaks were all noted and remembered :-) The staff were lovely - efficient, friendly, and clearly very good at their job - I do hope they get a good wage, as it’s hard work. My steak in my surf & turf was cooked as I asked, and had a really excellent charred flavour, the scampi was juicy, in fact my only slight negative comment would be that the peppercorn sauce was not punchy enough for me, but that is very much a personal thing, as I like lots of peppercorns. The Amaretto crème brûlée was, quite frankly, sublime, and I could eat a gallon of it! I had a well kept pint of Tribute ale, which hit the spot nicely. Two big mains, an extra couple of sides, desserts, coffee and drinks, all for around £70, bargain! My thanks to all.

We are locals at this pub but have never been for a roast. Wow! When I say it’s the best dinner I’ve ever had. Roast dinners can always be hit or Miss. But this was gorgeous, quick service, very reasonable (£15 per adult) and such high quality!

We went for a Sunday carvery and all the staff were fantastic, really welcoming and helpful. The food was good except the beef was really quite fatty but all the rest was delicious. I’d definitely go back and recommend to others.

Been to the penn mill a few times last time I ordered fish and chips and got 2 big fillets of fish this time however what I received was more like a childrens meal of fish gougons and chips, extremely disappointed won’t be visiting again which is unfortunate as our previous experiences had been great.

Disappointed first and last visit for us. The chicken was over cooked and dry. The crumble consisted of supermarket tinned cherry pie mix not stewed fruit as you’d expect. The crème brûlée did not have the typical crunchy snap topping and was soft. Very disappointed. There are better places to eat in and around Yeovil for the same price.
