About Peoples Eatery
Peoples Eatery is dedicated to representing Toronto, the most ethnically diverse city on the planet. At any given time they aim to have a dozen or more different cultures represented authentically - however make no mistake, there's no fusion cuisine here , but many culturally distinct dishes living happily together on one menu.
The offerings consist of snacks, cold/hot plates and platters - ideally shared across the table but perfectly great on their own. No two visits to Peoples are alike, but each is sure to be a unique, delicious experience.

Peoples Eatery Ratings and Reviews
Surprise and delight
The service was non-existent. It took more than 30 minutes to get a glass of wine and a pop. Food service was atrocious with 3 appetizer plates arriving to the table after 1.5 hours. Everyone else seemed to be getting service except us, and the restaurant had open tables still. Lousy, would never recommend and would not return.
Food was very good! The Tongue Sandwich is amazing! The only criticism was when we ordered the Mexican Style Bone Marrow, they served hard room temperature corn tortillas when they should ALWAYS be Soft & HOT HOT HOT!
We loved everything about this restaurant. Shared the smoked fish platter and left us wanting more!
Bar cocktails were a let-down from the last time I visited in summer. They took a long time to arrive too. Service was strange. Waitress’ attitude was condescending.
Food and ambiance were fantastic, as always.
A wonderful restaurant. The menu is eccentric and the food is exceptional. I love the concept and they execute perfectly. The wine list is fantastic and well thought out. Every dish and appetizer we tried was cooked perfectly and delicious. If you like the idea of pairing French wine with latkas and Vietnamese food you’ll love this place.
Food was excellent and tasty. Staff very friendly and super attentive. We enjoyed the meal.
Our dinner had a great start with the viet rare beef salad, which was refreshing and delicious. It got me exciting for the rest of our dinner. Next came the bone marrow, which was good but you can’t really screw up bone marrow. It was good, but I’ve had better. For the main course, we shared the curry crab and it did not meet my expectations at all. The curry sauce lacked flavour. Maybe the sauce should’ve been served on the side, as it was all soaked in the rice. There was no sauce left on the plate to eat the roti with. For $65, we have got about 3 oz of crab meat with a few shells in it, a poor curry sauce, and a large bowl of rice to fill us up. I normally don’t spend time writing reviews, but I left very disappointed.
The service was smooth and welcoming with friendly servers, but unfortunately, the main course ruined our night.
We had the tasting menu and it was superb! The pairings were spot on and Blake was amazing! One of my best nights out! Thank you Blake and Matthew!
Went to People's eatery with a friend for dinner. The food was awesome, I didn't expect much from the panzanella salad but it was great. I try to stick to a vegan diet and I had 3 options!
The bar tender made custom drinks for me and they were delicious. Great service!
The General Tso Fu and smoked fish platters were delicious.
Great quality of food, presentation and flavour. Would go back and recommend to others
Food is amazing as always. Our faves are the General Tso Fu, Tongue sliders (which tend to run out if you're slow), HDB and Whitefish on bagel crisps. SOOOO GOOOOOD! service is also generally good, might be a little slow at times, but still good. Drinks are always good. I like the Tokyo Sour. So glad they're on OpenTable now, so much easier to make reservations.
We enjoyed the food and setting. The noise level was a bit high - but not terrible. Our party had issue with the number of servers that we had - too many. Food would be dropped off & there would be no information provided or we didn't have plates. The sommelier was fantastic.
Was recommended by a friend so we went for a special occasion and really enjoyed it. The food and decor was great as was the staff. It was a bit pricey for the amount of food though
Excellent food fresh, healthy food. Paired with wine if you like , served by knowledgeable staff, wish I lived in Toronto ! Thanks Dustin!
Great food, great service, great vibe - we'll be back.
An evening out worth friends - There wasn't a dish we didn't like but particular favourites were the lamb croquettes (out of this world), the HDB (fresh and light), chopped liver, pudding chomeur and lemon tart with blueberry compote (both delicate and decadent). There were a couple of hiccups with our order but our servers, Blake, in particular, were amazing about remedying things. The creative flavour profiles and attentive service are only two reasons to make People's Eatery a must. Can't wait to return for the tasting menu!
Amazing night love this spot my go to for date night
What an extraordinary meal! We were a group of 6 celebrating a bachelorette (but very low key) and Peoples Eatery was PERFECT.
Our server was incredible - I think her name was Cara, but I may be making that up. She was so knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating.
The food was incredible. So unique and tasty. We were with a bunch of picky eaters (picky in general, vegetarian, dairy free) and everyone was still able to eat... and very happily.
I love this place. Every time is better than the last.
We were a party of 4 that came in for a late evening dinner. Overall it was a great experience. The menu was great and full of options. Our server was very attentive and made sure we enjoyed our meal.
The only issue was the portion size. The food was delicious there just wasn't enough of it on the plate. The steak and poutine for example, amazing beef and a great take on poutine but there just wasn't enough for us all to have nice big bites.
There are a lot of servers bopping about, but they're not very attentive. Even though our table was right by the walkway to the kitchen, we struggled to get someone's attention to order more drinks. I would say we were passed over 4 times? At this price point, I would expect the servers to be checking in with greater frequency about drinks. It also took quite a long time between courses and give that we were a group of four, we descended upon each arriving plate pretty quickly.
My second time going in a few weeks. While the food was still delicious...my first experience was better in terms of the food. The Arancino was incredible the first time but was slightly overdone at this visit. The Moroccan eggplant was also not seasoned exactly the same..lacked some acidity. I will definitely still go back but hope the consistency of food is better.
The service though is incredible. Our mains were taking longer than usual so they gave us another cold plate on the house that he knew we were discussing. Nice touch.
Had the best table in the restaurant. Food was rich but delicious
The food was excellent. The menu has a variety of unique items. The curry lamb cakes were an experience to enjoy. Cod with Romesco was awesome, the cod melted in your mouth, the potatoes were smokey with white anchovies on top! The service was excellent as well; the staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions; every member of the staff stopped by to check on us but in a very friendly and unobtrusive way.
Loved the food but very pricey for smallish portions. Awesome
Peking duck and steak
Great food and great service. Planning to return to try the rest of the menu.
Great atmosphere in a unique restaurant!
The best restaurant in the city. Maybe of all time?
Great food and wonderful service. Mixed drinks and wine were great! Wonderful choices of multicultural dishes with a twist!
Great menu that differentiates itself from other restaurants in the city with offerings from across the globe. The seat at the bar next to the prep station was was amazing. We got to see our food being prepared right in front of us. This was quite the treat.
The meal was average. Food tasted good, nothing amazing. The most dissappointing was the duck/foie. For $32, we were expecting a bit more on the dish except for three small slices of duck breast, which was chewy to be honest. Worth trying once but likely won't be a repeat patron.
We cannot stop coming back! Love every dish! The eggplant, the asparagus with killer hollandaise sauce (the best I've had), the gnudi, the duck breast...the list goes on. Peoples Eatery has become our new favourite and it's a restaurant you can keep coming back to. Service is also attentive and warm. Keep up the great work!
People's is a favourite of mine and I always take friends or family here if I want to show-off Toronto's food scene. The food is different, and absolutely delicious. The snack-style food allows you to try many different things, all are so unique! The staff are incredibly genuine, always suggestion wine pairings, specific plates to try or will assist with picking the right amount or variety. They are always very accommodating with a loud, but energetic vibe. Options to sit at the bar, seated, or near their open-air door. Never a disappointment.
Delicious. Excellent careful friendly service. Fun place to hand out.
Was really looking forward to dine here and it was a great experience! We loved our food and the menu options were fantastic. Chef Dustin, great job!
We've been here countless of times and it's always a great time. The drinks are always good. Some of our fave dishes: General Tso fu (SO ADDICTIVE!), tongue sliders, whitefish salad, Hwedubbap. There were several others, but they're no longer on the menu like the steak tartare and i guess some changes seasonally. The Chopper Liver Delite and Crispy Thai Pork with jackfruit are also good. For our most recent dining experience, i made reservation for 10:45 pm for regular table, but they had a big group coming so we had to sit at the bar, which is fine, just gets a little tight. But they gave us some bubbly for being accommodating.
I LOVE this place. It never disappoints - every item of food is incredible and unique! I also love the service. My most recent trip was for my birthday and the wait staff were accomidating and attentive. Even when they asked if I would switch my table for a larger party (I said hell no) they were super sweet and respected my choice...they may have even given me and my party a glass of sparkling wine to pay tribute to my sassy demands. ;)
Danny was our main server (and I can't recall the name of our other server but he was a delight) and both took the time to make us feel welcome and well taken care of. I always recommend this place to people and I hope word spread fast...but not too fast that I can't get a table anymore!
Wonderful experience created by outstanding service and interesting delicious food.
