The service was fabulous which really bolstered my opinion of the resto. The food was good (not amazing but good). The only item we were disappointed with was dessert - a chocolate peanut butter mousse - that was sooooo salty we couldn’t eat it
Amazing date spot! Loved the offerings and tapas style.
Favourite spot in the city!! Best service best food!
I loved everything about this restaurant. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Food and drink terrific!
Fantastic delicious food! Butter lamb croquettes and chocolate cake with peanut butter mouse and ice cream were outstanding. We ordered a variety of dishes and every one of them was incredibly tasty and well executed. Service was attentive and discreet. Can't wait to go back!
This place is superb!
Amazing food , good service, great drinks, cool space.
Had great cocktails and great food. I highly recommend the General Tso-Fu and the Pork Belly.
Great spot, great vibe. Maybe a bit too loud but nothing too disturbing. Service was good. We shared a few plates: one of them was 5/5, the other two were 4/5. Would definetly recommand and come back.
Overall not bad. Expensive for the portion sizes and wasn't blown away by any of the dishes. Glasses of wine were unreasonably expensive and sizes are not standard. Staff should have indicated that they were charging for two glasses of wine when a standard 9oz glass was ordered. Continually didn't provide enough menus for each person at the table.
Slow getting our entrées to come to the table. Sparkling wine is a joke and totally overpriced. Cramped dining room downstairs
Great experience and food .
Great food, great ambiance...cocktails are over priced. Enjoy a nice meal and then go some where else to enjoy more than one drink!
The portions are really small, everything expensive and short menu.
Had a lovely time here on Saturday. The only thing better than the amazing food was the wonderful staff :)
Great! The staff is helpful and charming.
We ordered the group tasting menu and it was excellent. What I was really impressed with was due to the kitchen being overwhelmed with several large tables at once, the manager kept our glasses full with wine on the house while we waited and surprised us with desert and a discount for our overall meal. Truth was we were so immersed in conversation we didn't notice the wait. Overall fantastic atmosphere, great waiter and an even better manger. The food was definitely worth it!
We were seating at the kitchen bar and the dude who was making all the cold entrees was super chill, he explained all the menu and referred us to other spots during our trip to toronto. Food was amazing and service was good! Music playlist was dope
Excellent taste and texture of food - small portions
Cocktails pricey but unique and well made
Cappuccino was weak ( mine) and bitter (my wife’s) / inconsistent as well
Servers were very friendly and efficient
Loud - speakers everywhere and low ceilings
People’s Eatery understands the value of food as an experience in itself. Grab a beautiful cocktail, order some amazing dishes (share, share, share!) and settle in for a great night. The staff are amazing and can provide some great recommendations. Even my gluten intolerant vegetarian partner hadn’t plenty of options.
We had the Tifin Box I believe it was called, which was an array of indian curries with roti. It was to die for! And the sour pineapple beer was one of the best I've had- so smooth!
Went for my fathers birthday. We were sat in the semi private lobster room (it’s full of lobster memorabilia) and ordered a wide selection from the menu. Each was fantastic. Highly recommend the General Tu and the Butter Lamb snacks to start.
Valentine's set menu was excellent. Wine pairings were good as well. Dessert was a perfect ending.
Came here for dinner and decided to go with the Winterlicious Menu. Potato latkes and the fois gras were amazing! General tsofu was very salty though -it was coated in hoisin sauce. My husband and I couldn’t finish the plate. Branzino and braised beef plates were good. The lemon tart was delicious (very tart!) but the peanut butter chocolate was too rich to finish. Every dish seemed to have very strong flavours so it’s probably best to share with a few people. Otherwise, it’s too overwhelming to eat with only one other person.
Amazing restaurant and incredible service. One of the best restaurants in Toronto!
Amazing food - loved every bite! Sharing was the best way to enjoy as much as you can. Will be back to try the new menu out.
As per usual, dinner was amazing! This is one of my favorite restaurants for good reason, the food is delicious, the service is casual and excellent and the ambiance is great too!
Did the tasting menu - I’d say everything was decent but this place does not flow properly for a tasting menu experience. Due to the number of food influences I felt like simply picking what we liked would have resulted in about the same experience.
Came here for a girls' night. Great for 1-4 people but it's a small place so I don't recommend large groups.
The staff are pretty attentive and the food is delicious. A lot of Asian fusion on the menu. A little expensive, but a nice little treat-yourself sort of night. The dishes are quite unique.
A little hard to find on a busy street like Spadina (the restaurant sign is not prominent) - so just be aware!
For the people...by the people...you know how it goes. This is a place where I felt at home instantly. Cozy and inviting while still hip and cool aesthetically, I chose People's to celebrate my daughter's birthday on a cold Sunday night. The 4 of us were seated in a lovely nook that felt like our own private space but with sightline to the main dining room so we didn't feel left out. The staff was beyond attentive in a casual way and the menu...well...it featured every signature dish I'd have to go to 6 restaurants to get. Roasted marrow, smoked trout on potato latkes, miso eggplant, chopped liver fois gras....this was just a delicious start- an eclectic and yet inclusive variety of food. We also ordered the tiffin box to share...again, divine-hit the spot divine. A very special place....my people will be eating at People's again, that's for sure!
Exceptional cuisine, next time I am in the Toronto area, I will make sure to stop by.
We were a table of 4 for NYE and got the group menu. It started out well and went down hill quickly. The third course forward was cold, not flavoured and some what unappetizing. I was also disappointed with their service. I had to order things twice for them to never show up, then our waiter disappeared and we didn’t get our champagne until after midnight and after we paid our bill. Was very disappointed since in the past it has been such a great time and experience.
We had a good time here. The shared plates were all tasty though some of the combos left us a little disappointed. We thought the Jamaican Beef Cheek didn't taste all that Jamaican, i.e. the flavours were a little bland though the beef was perfectly tender,.The bone marrow came with tortillas and salsa, which lacked a little in terms of overall mouthfeel as the salsa and marrow were both saucy and buttery. The General Tsofu was excellent and the others we ordered. Overall, a solid place, though we preferred 416 snack bar.
We had an amazing experience at peoples eatery. The food was delicious and atmosphere was casual but vibrant. But what truly stood out was the staff. They were so accommodating and the service was the best I’ve experienced in Toronto hands down. We all loved our peoples eatery and will
Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic spot to eat in Toronto :)
Peoples eatery was the perfect date spot for myself and my girlfriend who were celebrating our anniversary. Great cocktails, food was excellent and the service was spot on. Ambiance was romantic and quiet, exactly what we wanted. Would highly recommend!
The standout dishes were the raw trout salad - great textures, awesome gochjung dressing - and Jamaican beef cheeks. Remainder of the dishes were merely okay. Service was, to put it mildly, not terribly enthusiastic- bunch of folks who seemed to be going through the motions...
Amazing value and awesome food!
I wish there were more plates that were larger to pick from. The prices jumped from $20.00 to $55.00. It would have been nice to have more things in between? The tofu appetizer was heavenly, as was the mushroom vol au vent. It was a nice place to share plates and have good conversation.
Smallest portions ever.
The food was awesome! Great service. Loved the vibe.
