Pepino's Spaghetti House
great food .....great staff.... went above and beyond for my wifes birthday ....much appreciated.....ps order the pork chop parm.....
This is a lovely, cozy restaurant that seemed welcoming when I arrived at 5:30. However, by the time I left, around 6:45, the noise level was unbearable and I had to give up on talking to my dining companion. The noise was sickening and confusing and I couldn't wait to get out of there.
The food looked good but tasted bland. The service, however, was very good.
Cute corner table, was a bit loud but it’s a restaurant so that’s what we expected. Food was great, sad we didn’t have dessert but that just means next time!
Missing Nick’s. The place was packed so it seems the new owners are off to a good start. Good for them. Despite an abundance of staff the service was not good, you are seated cheek by jowl, and it’s noisy. Be prepared. It looks the same as Nick’s but the prices are higher, the service less friendly, and the food not as comforting. Glad we tried it, but won’t be rushing back.
Heard/saw mixed reviews. Glad we came to see for ourselves. Everything was superb from start to finish. Salads were outstanding. Would love the recipes.
Great room. Fun and energetic. Food portion (at least what we ordered) was a bit small. Though great quality and very tasty. Will be back.
Great pasta, excellent service, smaller restaurant but has great character
Twice in one week. New favourite spot!
Pepino’s is a gem, fantastic everything really. I find it a tad pricey for the pasta dishes - but it’s worth it every once in a while.
Waited 25 minutes four our reserved table with no Apologies- the only sore spot in an otherwise great meal
Service was bordering on rude. We all felt we were being rushed out the door. Food was tossed on the table with an air of boredom? Disgust?
Excellent. Period. Industry and food people alike will love this space.
food good, very noisy but certainly worth coming to. I am buying Gift Certificates as Christmas gifts!!
as a long time diner and lover of Nick’s before it there could not be a better restaurant in its stead.
We started with the avocado salad. It arrived as a blend of kale, beets, red cabbage, some goat cheese and a half avocado filled with a vinaigrette on top. It wasn't the prettiest, but it was very tasty. Next came the pork chop Parm with spaghetti. The pork chop was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It was served with baked mozzarella on top of the chop and a beautiful tomato sauce underneath. It was delicious! The servings are quite generous, come with you appetite!
Too crowded and noisy to get to enjoy the food. Too bad because the food was pretty good.
Delicious food, great service but tables were too close together - I heard every word of the conversation at the adjacent table. Overall it was too loud and too warm with nowhere to hang your coat, other than the back of your chair. No purse hooks in the ladies’ loo, so either put it on the floor or balance it on the toilet tank. I mentioned this to one of the managers the last time I was there, several months prior, and was told it would be corrected the next day. I don’t know whether or not I’ll come back.
Or waitress was great and very bubbly. We had a good time. The restaurant is so busy that you have to make a reservation at least a week ahead (that's if you are not planning on going during the weekend). It's not that big, so it gets pretty loud in the restaurant. The complimentary bread was good. Their pasta and sauce are great.
To be honest, I was disappointed. I'll just say the seasoning seemed off. The service was fantastic. I will try it again, but I'll be giving it some time.
Menu is rather limited, but everything we had was very tasty. We especially liked the oddly named 'Avocado' Salad. Handy that it is walking distance from the Cultch & York Theatres.
Had my birthday there on October 29th- they made it extremely special! Want to go again soon! 💕
Beautiful food and friendly, attentive service. Wine list looked well curated although we didn’t try any. The space has a really cool old-school Italian vibe. Looking forward to eating there again.
It’s like dining out in the Village in New York. It’s all about “gravy and parm”!
The food is not authentic italian and was disappointing. The sauce was very mild and not enough on your plate. The tarmasu was in a sundae glass. I love my cake style and was disappointed. We will not be returning to this so called Spagetti House.
Very good food but beware: You will be sitting inches from the next table and this restaurant is LOUD.
High quality, delicious food. Friendly, professional, knowledgeable staff. Beautiful room. Excellent cocktails and wine list.
Tasty food in generous portions. Small menu with focus on quality. Not a friendly greeting at the door however table service was friendly and efficient.
Great preservation of a Vancouver restaurant institution. Fabulous service and great food. Highly recommended!
While we were glad to dine at Pepino's once, we can't recommend to our friends because it was just too loud. I could see that the younger people really seemed to enjoy it, but it is not for me.
Also, my wife is allergic to eggs, so there was only one pasta dish that she could order.
We wish you all the best, but not our cup of tea.
My friend and I had dinner here before a theatre engagement. Our server Stefano (?) was knowledgable, attentive and entertaining without being intrusive. The food was simple, straightforward, nicely prepared and presented. It is kind of old school italian comfort food with a modern polish. We shared the calimare, thick strips of marinated squid in a delightfully light panko with an amazing aioli, and the sablefish oreaganeno for mains, with a shared a side of broccoli. The fish was perfectly done moist buttery and flavourful. The spaghetti it was served with was perfectly al dente tossed with fresh parsley and parmesan and a little aiioli. It was so so good. Portions are generous. We would have shared a dessert, but there was no room in that house..teeheee.. I had been wanting to go for a while to see what had become of the former Nick's Spaghetti House. Living in Squamish, it was well worth the trip.
I enjoyed it very much. It is more expensive than Nick's Spaghetti House and the portions are much smaller, so it is a bit challenging to see the value. If you used to be a regular at Nick's you will probably be somewhat disappointed.
great staff and service and ambience. Terrible food. Very poor value and quality. Poor variety. Will never go back.
Need that phenomenal gnocchi special more often :)
Our server Carmen made our time Amazing!
Great Service and Fantastic Attitude
Food was lovely, service was excellent... and we were the last ones to leave, a “no rush” from the server that was actually a no rush, that’s something that’s really hard to find in Vancouver, specially at a popular spot like this one.
Trendy trying hard to be authentic. Chirpy service and patter. Felt rushed to order and finish. No real ambiance. Quite a limited selection of appetizers, entrées and wine by the glass. ONE brand of beer. My chicken piccata served with spaghetti with butter and cheese was tasty, but the capers were few and far between and the pasta portion was skimpy. Sono venuto, ho visto, ho mangiato, ma non tonèro.
Food and service were good. But the noise level was making it hard to hear across the table.
This is the second time we've been here and the food is delicious!
