Pepino's Spaghetti House
Excellent pasta! Cool vibe inside, although had to wait quite a while to be seated for our reservation.
The best spaghetti and meatballs I’ve ever had. Negronis were to-die-for, banana split for dessert was everything. Service was absolutely impeccable. We’ll be back again and again.
Food was ok. Great atmosphere but average food. Ordered the gnocchi special and it was very small order
This is the third time I've been to Pepino's since they opened and though it happens to be in my neighbourhood I would gladly get there if the restaurant was suddenly relocated! Great wine, food and lively ambience.
A small intimate venue. Service was great. Food was excellent. Definitely will return to try more menu items.
The transformation of this restaurant from a legendary spaghetti house to a trendy reservation-needed dining experience was one I was looking forward to, and it didn’t disappoint. The space is classy/casual, and the service friendly/professional. The food was amazing. Every dish was beyond expectation, and the suggestion to order family style allowed us to taste more than with individual servings. The price was surprisingly reasonable considering the quality of the entire experience.
The 3 of us had a very nice dining experience - the staff is very friendly and made us feel welcome.
We were happy with the food, certainly plentiful - if there is a negative...the noise level makes it impossible to carry a conversation.
We saw the owner making meatballs on the Saturday morning news we decided to try it when we were in town the food was amazing so good we will be back
Our dinner was so very fantastic! We all enjoyed it and can't wait to go back. We've already decided what we're having next time. We had spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, fettuccine alfredo and mushrooms, the big pork chop, tiramisu and a cappuccino. All so delicious! Portions are fantastic. Great value for money. Service was awesome. 5 big stars!
The main courses (linguine and spot prawn scampi; wild mushroom gnocchi) and dessert (cheesecake) were excellent.
However, the starter (an heirloom tomato salad with fior di latte cheese and a tomato vinaigrette) was quite disappointing. The flavour of the tomatoes was drowned in the overly-acidic vinaigrette, which burned my throat. When a server came to collect our plates and asked what we thought of the salad, I told him that the dressing was too acidic. He sarcastically replied that he'd make sure that it wasn't made this way for us the next time we order it, chuckled, then walked away. Don't bother asking diners what they think of the food if you're going to sarcastically dismiss their comments. It's disrespectful and doesn't encourage return customers.
Truly excellent hidden gem... food, ambiance, service. Noise level can be a factor so take into consideration depending on who you plan on dining with.
Great atmosphere, very old school italian feel. The service was friendly and we didnt wait too long for the food to arrive. I would suggest making a reservation. Average price point. A little small so wouldnt recommend it for big parties. Ordered the spaghetti and meat ball platter, cannelloni, and the nonas parm eggplant all very delicious! I will definitely be frrquentling this restaurant! Not pretentious at all, nice change from the new restaurants that are opening up in the city. Wishing them lots of success!!
Reminded me of what it’s like to have great service and food..bravo!!
Although the Lasagne was good it was a little on the dry side.
Date night dinner here, really energetic for a Tuesday evening and a little crowded on the booth side of the seats but it didn't bother us and while a little loud, we didn't have trouble hearing each other. Was really looking forward to dinner here as we're huge fans of Savio Volpe. Had a great dinner - Big Tony wasn't on the menu anymore for some reason but we had a dish very similar and it was amazing. The spicy rigatoni pasta was my favourite. Didn't have room for dessert which gives me an excuse to go back (not like I needed one!). Laurissa was our server and she was just lovely which added to our great experience. Definitely recommend.
Very attentive service and flavourful food. I appreciated the complimentary prosecco in honour of our anniversary dinner. Not a "spacious" dining experience if one is looking for an intimate dinner, but a cozy ambience and fun, casual atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
Took my parents here for their wedding anniversary and had a great time. They gave us a complimentary glass of champagne to toast with when we sat down that was hugely appreciated. I love the energy here, and everyone who works their is so knowledgeable on drinks and gives great recommendations on food. Highly, highly recommend.
LOUD. Even at lunch time when Restaurant was only half full. Bad acoustics. Very difficult to hear dining companions.
But food was good.
I might have had too high of expectations. It was just okay. Service needs some work
Memories of Nick's Spaghetti house. Still looks the same. Thin spaghetti meat sauce was ok. Nothing to compare with authentic Italian cuisine, I call this fusion food. Make reservations, try and judge. Enjoy!
Great American Italian cuisine. Calamari was amazingly tender, beef ravioli was perfect, and the rigatoni was nice too. The chef made an off menu dish deboned roasted chicken leg roasted potatoes lemon caper sauce and this dish was amazing and simple as could be.
Service, food, atmosphere was all great. My only complaint and its a small one is I found the table top lights annoying, a little too white, in the dark it's not a very pleasant light.
We were really excited to try pepinos. We enjoyed most of the meal.
Service and staff were excellent.
Sadly though my wife had the linguini scampi, and got food poising also immediately. Which really took away from the experience.
Makes me wonder about the food safety and storage. It will be a while before we head back there again.
Definitely not Nicks’
So much could have gone wrong- but Pepino's is truly a love letter to the spirit of Nick's. The food was fantastic- it seems a bit pricey, but that's because you don't realise how huge the portions are until you go. Each entree was more than enough food to share between two, if you wanted!
Added to our list of must return to places in Vancouver
Love this place, always go. This specific time the entrees took 40 minutes to come out! Server mix up.
Everything we had tasted amazing, service was great.
The food and atmosphere are very good but it has a few too many tables so everyone is too close together and it is really LOUD.
Good food, a little cramped went for lunch only available during week days.
Excellent service from Carmen and wine knowledge from Kieran. Food was top notch.
Really well prepared pasta classics that are deeply satisfying, juicy and crunchy cutlets, and a must-try antipasto ‘chop’ salad. Wine list mixes geek with predictable; service is expertly casual but meticulous. Soul of Nick alive and well.
Food and service were excellent. Best spaghetti and meatballs in town.
Pepino's is a modern North American-Italian style restaurant in a location of a long-time Vancouver classic 'spaghetti joint'. It's kept a lot of the classic decor, and while it has modernized the menu, it pays homage to the spaghetti/meatballs/lasagne menu of its predecessor. Personally, I find that a bit too limiting - it has SOME interesting dishes: the 'avocado salad' pairs an avocado with beet, kale, goat cheese, and a lovely dressing, for instance. My hope is that in the future they add some pasta dishes that show more of this sort of imagination.
It is my absolute favourite restaurant in Vancouver. The staff are engaging, friendly, and charming. The decor is very intimate and cozy while the atmosphere is buzzing with great energy. I love going there because it is a guaranteed good time! Thank you Pepinos for being something different in this dull city :) <3
The eggplant parmigiana was excellent as were the veal cutlets.
I find the marinara sauce quite rich.
Overall a very good restaurant with exceptional value.
Food was fantastic! Healthy portions and full of flavour. Enjoyed the food but the service was terrible. Started off with a forgotten drink order, then once the food arrived we were forgotten about. Server didn’t bother to check back or even clear the table. Had to seek a different server to order dessert and then even to pay the bill. What started off as a great night ended up being sour due to the service. Noise level is intense. Could not have a proper conversation, had to yell.
I met my brother for dinner, both our first visit. I had visited nicks spaghetti house many times over the years, making the visit a little nostalgic. I never loved the food, but the experience was always great. Moving forward to pepinos void of expectation, I was very pleasantly delighted. We shared the sautéed peppers as an appetizer and they were spicy, tasty and mouth watering. Before we shared the Cesar salad we chatted about low expectations as our fathers Cesar salad is stellar. We were both thrilled at the flavour packed and pungent smelling dressing and presentation. I felt they could have used a little less dressing as there was so much left on the plate....I commented to my bro “too good to waste 😋 . We both ordered cannelloni for main and it also was very good and a nice size portion. Of course why not wrap up such a delightful evening without trying the cheesecake. Another yummy winner! Service was excellent from front door to leaving. Job well done, pepinos. We will definitely be back😘
Wonderful experience, perfect menu and great service!! Can’t wait to go back!
Old school Italian classics done extremely well combined with newness in some of the salads and appetizers. Fun vibe, loud always energetic. Decent wines that work well with the menu and great service. Best spaghetti and meatballs I've had in decades.
My second visit to the restaurant. Both times very good food, nicely presented. Service is good, very friendly. Loved the avocado salad and Pork chop. Pre-mixed Negroni was average. nice wine list.
Great looking room. Only negative was the noise factor. Had to yell to have a conversation with my friends.
Would recommend and return.
