Pepino's Spaghetti House
Went for date night. Super cute interior with an authentic feel. We got the dinner for two; all portions were generous and delicious, especially the Big Anthony!
Buffala mozzarella to start; lovely pesto. Two pastas and two mains to share between four. What a spaghetti! Simply deadly. My famiglia scooped up the Alfredo, leaving me with oodles of noodles, —tasty with the bone marrow (osso buco)—and the pollo was succulent.
Felt right at home on our first visit... the staff hit all the right notes, left us feeling replete, longing to linger. Miguel’s presence and wine service will be missed.
Nezt time, wine pairings!
Very good food and service.
Value wise I would not rate as high.
$26 for spaghetti and meatballs seems too much.
Entres and wines seem expensive for a pasta house.
Amazing service and food, definitely will be back
Second time at this restaurant and I think I love it even more. The caprese salad was one of the best I’ve ever had! And the gnocchi were like little clouds of heaven. I shared the osso bucco with my husband and it was good, but didn’t blow me away like the other dishes. I’d probably try a different main next time - those lamb chops looked divine. We also had the tiramisu and it was hands down the best tiramisu I think I’ve ever had in Canada, the US or Italy!
Service was wonderful! Ambience is nice, but space is tight. Overall I’m looking forward to my next experience dining here!!!
I loved the staff and the amazing food. I will visit again soon.
The food is always fantastic but the prices seem too Have gone up in priceh - might not come as often. But I do love the food
Great food and service! I would recommended sharing the dinner for two.
Wonderful, lively, Friday date night.
A great little Italian restaurant. The menu is small but enough variety to find something. Convientlyright next door to the theatre. But you do need resverations. The place fills up fast and always seems full.
The service was great , server was attentive . Even bought out a cake for the birthday girl as he knew we were celebrating . We all ordered the clam linguine , but for some reason it had chilli flakes in the sauce and it was way to spicy for all of us to eat. We didn’t realize that it was part of the sauce but the server informed us it wasn’t and was super nice to offer it to be comped. The kale avocado salad was very tasty and we really enjoyed it.
Excellent wait staff! They were fantastic with the service and making sure my three year old daughter was well taken care of.
I loved how they kept the bones of the old Nicks ! The food reminded me of New York Italian dining ..was delicious .. huge sharing portions .. great service and wine .. look forward to going back !
Pasta with meatballs was tasty. Better to order 1 meal for 2 person. Cold cut with olives could be better.
Same atmosphere as the old Nicks Spaghetti House...menu is almost the same too but 20-30% more money
Had very high hopes for Peppinos however they fell short. Front staff was very friendly and prompt. Table service was slow and our waiter was not very friendly, seemed like she didn't want to be there, however I don't blame her, it was a busy night and she had several tables. Apparently it's like this every night, maybe they should get more wait staff. We ordered the calamari, house avocado salad, fettuccine alfredo & mushrooms & chicken piccata. Our favourite dish of the night surprisingly was the house salad. Even my husband likes it, and he's not a salad guy. We found that there were some bites of the calamari & chicken were extremely salty. The pasta was average at best. Was bland... surprising since everything else was so salty. We came here for our one year wedding anniversary and they did not even mention it, even though when booked, it was specified. It's not a personable restaurant, if that's what you're looking for. Ambience is nice, it's extremely loud, not romantic at all. I would not go here for a first date, unless you both are really loud talkers (screamers). Overall was okay. I wouldn't come here again seeing there are so many other restaurants with better food and service.
I friend and I shared the $45 option of sharing: one appetizer, one pasta, one meat and dessert. The caprese salad was tasty enough, but was nothing like the buffalo mozzarella we had in Italy. Still, tasty. Linguini with clams was delicious, albeit a there was a pool of oil left on the bottom of the plate. The Big Anthony pork chop was delicious - get this! Pass on the tiramisu - one of the worst interprepations of the dessert I've ever had.
Had the buffalo mozzarella, spaghetti with meatballs, pork chops and cheesecake. Everything was soo delicious and the service was incredible! Everyone was so friendly and the food was amazing! We will definitely be coming back, thank you!!
Left us standing at the door, table wasn’t ready on time. Not offered a seat in the lounge even after everyone else was sat. (Partner gave up and left as there wasn’t room for both of us to stand.) Tried to serve me another tables appy although menu was still on table. Tried to take food order before I’d even been offered a drink or wine list. Out of what I’d planned to order (no explanation or alternate suggestion). Bread basket flung on the table as server rushed to wait on someone else. No quality check until I was done eating. No offer of coffee or dessert. They couldn’t get me out fast enough. Worst vancouver dining experience ever - and that’s coming from someone with 30+ years in the service industry. There are much better places to eat in the neighbourhood. I won’t be returning - which is too bad because I was really looking forward to eating here. Total fail on food and service.
Food was pretty good. Restaurant was super loud. Low ceiling made the place very loud.
Awesome food and service overall.
Delicious! Went for an anniversary, and they gave us complimentary champagne and impeccable service
Fabulous food, especially my “Big Anthony’s ” Pork Chop Parm. Owners have kept some of the look and flavour of old Nick’s but added their own special charm and a fine but simple menu. This location Is back on my favourite list for good dining. Richard (Jan-2019)
Went here on a special date night out and had an amazing time. The server was knowledgeable, friendly and very in tune. Never left us waiting or needing anything. Everybody we interacted with was very friendly, very welcoming. We had the spaghetti and meatballs as well as the spinach cannelloni. Amazing. We will be back very soon to try more dishes :) thanks for a great night out!
We absolutely loved our experience. Food was outstanding and the service was excellent. The only hiccups was the wait for our table, but we understood as the restaurant was very busy and everybody was apologetic about it. Once we sat, the food and service made up for it and completely turned the experience around. Thank you for a lovely dinner!
Had an amazing experience at Pepino's! Table was ready on time (on what seemed to be a hectic Sunday dinner service) and staff were very welcoming. Didnt have to wait for our food very long and portions were very generous! Would definitely recommend the picatta with potatoes, and pork parm... You'll be assured leftovers for when you get home.
The food is as good as when it was Nicks. The restaurant needs to expand the drink menu. Not everyone wants to drink Italian beer.
Superb service. Good value for food.
Really great ambience for date night or celebrating a friend's birthday! Food was good, portions are quite large, service is AMAZING, it was just really loud.
Our 2nd year anniversary was made perfect with our welcome prosecco! Everything here was perfect!!!
Always a great time at Pepino’s. Great hospitality especially from the general manager Romano. Really good old world Italian American pasta done properly. Great food and wine list as well.
great food .....great staff.... went above and beyond for my wifes birthday ....much appreciated.....ps order the pork chop parm.....
This is a lovely, cozy restaurant that seemed welcoming when I arrived at 5:30. However, by the time I left, around 6:45, the noise level was unbearable and I had to give up on talking to my dining companion. The noise was sickening and confusing and I couldn't wait to get out of there.
The food looked good but tasted bland. The service, however, was very good.
Cute corner table, was a bit loud but it’s a restaurant so that’s what we expected. Food was great, sad we didn’t have dessert but that just means next time!
Missing Nick’s. The place was packed so it seems the new owners are off to a good start. Good for them. Despite an abundance of staff the service was not good, you are seated cheek by jowl, and it’s noisy. Be prepared. It looks the same as Nick’s but the prices are higher, the service less friendly, and the food not as comforting. Glad we tried it, but won’t be rushing back.
Heard/saw mixed reviews. Glad we came to see for ourselves. Everything was superb from start to finish. Salads were outstanding. Would love the recipes.
Great room. Fun and energetic. Food portion (at least what we ordered) was a bit small. Though great quality and very tasty. Will be back.
Great pasta, excellent service, smaller restaurant but has great character
