Sleek and modern with one foot firmly in the Old World is the feeling at Perbacco. The restaurant boasts a brick wall original to the historic 1913 Hind building, with other touches such as a bar top and floor tiles made from white Carrara marble. With 16 seats at the bar and 7 more intimate tables, Perbacco creates an atmosphere for a glass of wine or a light bite. Perbacco also features 2 dining rooms, one on the main floor and a smaller one on the Mezzanine, which has the added allure of serving as "theater", with windows to watch all the action in the kitchen below. Chef Staffan Terje strives to cook the finest food reflecting the Italian regions of Piemonte and Liguria. Handcrafted, house-made salumi, prosciutto and other charcuterie are not to be missed. Seasonal pastas, a tradition in Piemonte, range from the traditional ravioli to the more exotic agnolotti. Main courses feature dishes such as stuffed quail breast, a selection of seafood dishes, and vegetarian options.

    Food is superb. Pasta and risotto are still some of the best I’ve had in SF. Ingredients were wonderfully fresh. Sweet corn, tomatoes, melon, mushrooms, octopus made appetizers and entrees memorable. Sadly the service here has really suffered post pandemic. Many waitstaff running back and forth and into each other but food was slow to be delivered, water and wine glasses were not refilled, cocktails were not carried to the table (please learn to use a tray!) when we were seated. Makes it hard to feel good about a 20% tip

    Delicious food, the Parpadelle was the best dish i tried, but really everything was delicious. they were so amazing about being flexible with a gluten allergy as well - she wanted to gnocci (because of the mushroom sauce), and they were able to switch out the gnocci for gluten free pasta. the ambience was amazing and we had a great waiter as well. overall very happy with our dinner and will be back!

    Our first and last time there. Ambiance and service were fine. However, the two mains we ordered had serious problems. My friend's meal was their pork loin, it was brought to the table nearly raw, we sent it back. Before I ordered my meal I asked if the halibut was from Alaska because Alaska's cold water makes the fish much more flavorful than elsewhere, and they said it was. The halibut I was serviced was nearly tasteless which I suspect was from not from Alaska, while the greens it was served over were bland. We each had a beer rather than wine because the wine by the glass was prohibitively expensive. We shared a desert which was fine. The bill was very expensive which included a service charge of (I believe) 10% to which we added a tip, so beware when you tip to take into account these added service charges.

    We celebrated our anniversary at Perrabacco and we had a fantastic experience. Great ambiance, superb cocktails, excellent food and wine. The service was outstanding. I look forward to going back.

    Food was great. Lots of classics, many sugo pasta sauces. Good pasta. I had the melon and cucumber salad and the veal with tuna sauce. Both quite good. The "ugly but good" cookies were as advertised and seemed like a huge portion but they were made of meringue and hazelnuts and clearly meant to be savored with a dessert wine or digestive. In any case, good all the same.

    We had a wonderful dinner. The food was very flavorful, we had the octopus on the appetizers list and it was delicious. I had the gnocchi which was rich and creamy, would definitely recommend. And the mezcal cocktail on their menu was perfectly smoky. It was my husband’s birthday and the host brought a birthday card to the table which I had never seen done before at a restaurant. Loved the small touch.

    Perbacco is a dimly lit, more Northern Italian style restaurant. Our server Joey gave us a detailed overview of the fresh fruit and vegetables in season for California and the restaurant’s mission. He made sure we made the correct choices for our dishes, and eagerly answered every question we had. I had the pappardelle with the lamb ragu and it was AMAZING. The ingredients were fresh and exciting, using mint and orange to balance the robust flavor of the lamb. My mom and I were so pleased with the food, wine pairing, service, and overall experience. I would recommend Perbacco for date night, dinner with family, and for anyone wanting to try the flavors of Northern Italy with California’s freshest produce.

    This is a Financial District mainstay that I have enjoyed for years. I was happy to see that it filed up for lunch, despite the San Francisco ""doom loop". The service was fine, nothing outstanding for a high end restaurant. The pasta was very tasty, but, $30 for a simple bowl of pappardelle? Food cost $1.50.

    Although Perbacco no longer has a parklet, when they saw I asked for outdoor dining, they set up a table outside, and provided exemplary service. They really went above and beyond for me.

    In the old days, I visited here often, and I can compare if I want to. Perbacco isn't what it used to be, but what is? However, the food does not rise to its price point. Also, a $2 "no ice" fee was added to my drink after I ordered it "up"; apparently, extra liquor was needed to bring it to the brim. Is this a game some customers play? Never seen it before, never dawned on me, personally. Lunch for 2 = close to $200.

    I stumbled on this exquisite gem on a recent business trip. The service felt as if I was a long lost friend returned to the fold. I did not want to stop eating the food because it was sublime and almost addicting. What a treasure your city has in this extraordinary restaurant.
