We had a lovely meal at piccolino’s, the place was buzzing after the races, the only downside was the risotto one of our group had. She ordered this as she’s GF, but doesn’t eat seafood, so asked if this could be done without prawns. when it arrived it was very uninspiring and she asked if she could have some kind of cream sauce to make it more palatable.

We visited on race day, the restaurant was extremely busy but we were looked after all evening by a fantastic team, can’t wait to return, would absolutely recommend a visit

Too noisy with boring, repetitive disco music. We asked for it to be turned down, which it was, but the first waitress to do this waited five minutes and turned it back up. Our waitress then turned it down a bit, but it was not pleasant in a full restaurant with people talking loudly to compensate for the “music”. Also the focaccia was just a slice of pizza base. We complained but were told we must have ordered something different two weeks ago.

Lovely restaurant with great food. Would’ve liked a bit longer between our starter and main course but on the whole it was very nice.

So so disappointed 😞 I adore Piccolinos but this was terrible. Our starter was the usual fab carpaccio. But mains were frankly awful. Both barely lukewarm. My merluzzo had some weird liquid in the base and the sausage was some cheap substitute. I've had this dish at least 10 times and this was not done with the same ingredients. My friends pasta was cold, tough and not in any way the usual Devonshire crab ravioli we've ordered before. It used to be delicate crab filled ravioli dressed with samphire and lemon... Instead, it came with some weird congealed heavy packet "sauce". Disgusting. I mean really really not good. And the usually great zucchini fries were more batter than veg. And cold. Piccolinos was my favourite place in Chester. The staff are still wonderful but if you're paying for food, it needs to be way better than this. Bring back the old chef ........

However, we understand that when you expressed your dissatisfaction at the time of payment with Cosimo , we immediately took £40 off your bill. In a rush to empty the bottle of wine and the lady that spooned the Parmesan on to our plates seemed to be late too busy to care. Lovely setting and a good welcome.

Ordered risotto and my king prawn on the top when shelled oozed this dark brown liquid that went on my food. It was clearly off. The waiter immediately took it back and did another one, which I had really gone off the thought of eating. The other pasta dishes were very small, compared to previous years. We have been visiting here for the past 10 years and the food has really gone downhill and expensive. My bill was not adjusted, no complimentary drinks. We will not go here ever again.

According to our menu, the prawns are served with the shell on, and the brown liquid can sometimes come out when shelled. This is not a sign of food being off.
