A delicious experience
It was another fabulous dining experience at Pidgin. I have enjoyed this place 10 times since Dine Out 2017 and so happy i found and discovered it. The cocktails are ever changing, creative, interesting and delicious, the dinner specials change nightly so I have something new to try every time I go as well as my favorites and the service is absolutely delightful, efficient and attentive without being intrusive (special mention to Jordan)!
I highly recommend the pork belly bowl, asparagus in however way it’s made, foie gras rice bowl and mushrooms. I always have a flight of sake and whatever artisan cocktail with mezcal is new. Very hard to go wrong with Pidgin!
Different and tasty , we had the prefixed menu . Every time they brought one plate to share . We asked not to include pork and we finished with a steak . Dessert was very good
We only liked the Halibut. The drinks are nah. The ceviche was way too spicy. Reverse was not being too real. She sounded fake.
One of the best restaurants in Vancouver
Yum! Such amazing food and good service! The negronis are also amazing!
Cocktails number 1.. food Fantastic
For the rest .. Just go ...
Happy hour cocktails and chicken wings are so good!
Great meal, again!
Great service, food and drinks. Would definitely come back again.
good taste
the service part can be improved
Fantastic food, french-asian fusion with their own final touch. Don't miss!!
The foie gras rice bowl was not as good as expected, a bit too oily and salty. However I love the environment and the waiter there was super friendly.
We had a wonderful experience at Pidgin! The food was amazing!
We had an amazing experience with chef's table (tasting menu). Amazing and creative food.
Food was good but taste wasn’t very special but meant for sharing so portions were small .
However the service was excellent.
Accommodated me last minute even though kitchen was almost closed. Oyster shots were terrific.
Not only does Chef Wesley Young use the freshest ingredients from reputable purveyors to create masterful dishes, he tantalizes you with unique flavours that have various textures & temperatures throughout the meal. What an amazing experience!
Jordan was amazing!
Second visit and even better than before!
Really really really awesome food!! Good job guys! It was really quiet for a wednesday night there were only 2 tables occupied in the whole restaurant. The food was excellent for an 8 course tasting menu and the one eyed samurai was superb! Will definitely come back for the foie gras rice bowl!
Service seemed a bit confused at times, e.g., we were attended by two servers at one period and one of them offered us the dessert menu when we still had one dish left. She appeared a bit confused—no biggie though. Foie rice bowl is always amazing. Generous portion on the new-ish sweetbreads dish. A little too heavy on the butter though. Peas were swimming in oil. Would go back mainly for foie and vast/best selection of Japanese whiskey in town.
My wife and I had the 7 course tasting menu and each dish was great. Notable were the oyster shooters, mushrooms, and steak. I would surely order those again. Service from Ryan was top notch, friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Definite win for our last meal.
It was perfect! We got the 8 course taster. I can say that everything tasted amazing. We loved every dish! I would recommend to my friends.
Went here for Valentine's Day. The menu was similar to their tasting menu, with a bit higher price tag for the occasion (and small menu changes). The bar drinks we had for appetizers were unique and tasty. We decided to spring for the Sake / Wine pairings which were also great, and a good value. The food was phenomenal and up there with the best in Vancouver. On a normal night, the value would exceed those at others I'd put in the same category (Market, Bauhaus, Botanist). I have no problems recommending this restaurant for a more up-scale dining experience.
My wife and I attended Pidgin on Valentine's Day, which had a prix fixe menu, with an optional wine/sake pairing. We decided to have a cocktail and sake flight before dinner, with a nice Okanagan Pinot Noir for the rest of our meal. Our server was incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful, while not overbearingly so. There was a vibrant, lively atmosphere inside, with several diners enjoying their evenings. Compared to other prix fixe menus, Pidgin's wasn't so "precious", focusing more on the ingredients and flavours, as opposed to whether it should be presented on bark, or sea foam, for example. Haha. Highlights were the scallops on top of the homemade trout ravioli (broth was amazing), and the seared duck was truly delicious. Personally, I prefer a little more quantity. Each dish seemed somewhat small, since it was to be shared between two people, raising our eyebrows at the $95/pp (before booze, tax and gratuity). All in all, we had a delicious meal and wonderful time.
When they call you to confirm your reservation and mention that the 6 course valentine’s day dinner was $95 per person you would assume it was a course set for each person not one course shared for 2 person, this was way too overpriced for what they served, food was fine, I won’t come back for special holidays here anytime soon
Exceptional food and service. Have always wanted to dine here and finally made it down. Top notch in all regards and I wouldn’t hesitate to return for another meal.
Alex made it an exceptional dining out experience with his in-depth knowledge of the wine and sake pairing. Excellent food, company and service!
We really loved our meal at Pidgin. The food is inventive and delicious. The service was excellent, Ryan was smart, fun and just the right amount of attentive.
Food menu is small ,, everything taste great and love all the cocktails
We went for dine out experience . $40 per person and we weren't full. We shared 1 plate for 2 person. It was not enough at all.
The server we had was really knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the wine pairing with each course. He was attentive and great!
Pidgin is a really cool restaurant. The standard of food is up there with the very best restaurants, but it retains a really casual atmosphere. This was down to both the ambiance and servers who were friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. The wine / sake flight is a must. Defo recommend highly.
best dineout for me this year. For the price and the quality.
Was pleased with the original dishes and service. Will definitely go back.
Well, what should I say about this place. I think the food was quite good, even though not consistently so. The ambience is very good, so if that is why go out, then this would be a good choice. The catch is: don't stay for more than 2 hours. This is important if you're planning to talk to people while you try at the same time to digest a 5-course dinner. We were not informed of this beforehand (and, no, it is not the standard everywhere to have 2-hour slots, not even/especially in very good places) - instead, we were told quite bluntly after our last course that we have 15 minutes to order and finish a dessert, pay and leave. As if this wasn't the highlight of our evening, the people at the next table were told *in the middle of their last/main course* that they have 7 minutes (and I am quoting, seriously, this is not an exaggeration) to order dessert. And we heard this loud and clear to the next table, so at least this makes their policy consistent and not just bad service on our part. They were, expectedly, a bit shocked. I did share my opinion with the staff as I was leaving. So, I am not sure how people take this kind of (lack of good) service in a restaurant, but I see no reason to go back. Vancouver has a myriad of places that are at equal footing or better in terms of quality/price ratio - and still adhere to normal good standards of customer service.
Very friendly, welcoming staff. We went there for Dine out. The tasting menu was excellent. Did't have to make choices and we got to share the dishes and the experience. A little too noisy when it was full of people.
We had the $40 Dine Out Vancouver Festival menu, there were 6 courses shared between 2 people. We loved every single course, some stand outs were the mantou, the trout with dashi risotto and the apple yuzu tatin. We also got the pork belly rice bowl which was delicious!! At first we were unsure of how the experience would be because during the Dine Out festival restaurants can be a hit or a miss with lots of diners and rushed service, but this experience was amazing and we’re looking forward to coming back to try the regular menu items
