Has a fabulous brunch - perfectly cooked eggs benny, marvellous French toast, decent lattes. I think this is the best brunch I’ve had in New Westminster- also the prettiest restaurant imho.
Our wedding dinner - had a great evening - especially enjoyed and appreciated the champagne!
Really good Italian restaurant with modern and creative Italian dishes. The risotto balls were quite tasty. Will definitely come back
Great service! Delicious food!
Our server was just the right amount of fun and service. There when you need him...and gave us our space too.
You don't feel rushed . I had the spaghetti Bolognese.. ...it was simply delicious! The Caprese salad was a very generous portion too!
The food was amazing. Carbonara was buttery and delicious. Great wine and dessert selection. Food took longer than expected even for two very patient people but we chalked it up to new restaurant growing pains. Our server was super friendly, not overbearing. Would recommend and come again!
The waiter ambience and food all fantastic. Highly recommend.
Tried their new brunch menu, and were totally blown away. Hollandaise sauce was a 'best-ever', excellent home fries, and perfectly cooked and seasoned crab on the Mediterranean benny; the French toast was decadent and not too sweet, with the lemon ricotta bringing the perfect balance. Drinks were a little slow to appear (as always here, it seems), but our food was quick and delicious! So happy to have this option in the 'hood.
Great modern Italian cuisine restaurant. Inedible wild mushroom pizza with cauliflower pure!
Since moving out of the downtown core, my wife I were looking for a nice restaurant in New Westminster. We came across Piva and decided to try it out. The food was great, our server Alex was awesome! She was well-versed in the menu and wine list. She definitely made our experience a great one. We will definitely be back!
Had dinner at Piva last night for the first time. The manager on duty was so welcoming, gave us hugs after a little joke I made when we entered. Alex B our server was phenomenal. As vegetarians we were very happy with the selection of actually thought out veggie dishes. Perfect portion sizes, super fast kitchen & great atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
Have been to Piva a few times and have tried lots of their apps and pastas - all of them are great. This time we tried some pizzas before going to catch a show and they were really, really good - we had the margherita and mushroom pizzas and they had the perfect crust and outstanding flavour. We also had fun with their new wines by the glass. This was the perfect spot for us to go to before a show...we actually planned to go back for dessert after the show but we were still too full! We are going back to try the brunch menu soon.
The food and the service were superb
Thank you Tony and Chris for a great evening
I have been to Piva on a handful of occasions and have always had a great experience. This time was no different.
The food was delicious. The staff was very attentive. Our waitress was the right balance of customer service/being present but letting us chat and have our conversations. We were served efficiently and everything was delicious.
My friend who had not been to Piva yet had gushed over the decor and ambiance. Everything was clean, it wasn't too loud like many other restaurants and the seats were comfy.
very nice open setting, staff were all very friendly and helpful. great list of appetizers and wine. If anything I would suggest a larger menu so we could come back more often.
The food was amazing, but the service was even better. Everyone is super friendly and genuine.
My wife and I and another couple came to the restaurant on June 30 for dinner. Walking in the door at 7:30 we were met with a blast of noise. While it was busy and you would expect some noise, it was too loud in my opinion to the point where it was hard to hear conversation. Perhaps I'm a bit old but still... In addition, we found the wine list broad enough but over priced. Having said that, our server was wonderful. I would go back again as the food was good but maybe not on a Friday or Saturday night.
Exceptional customer service
Just a bit too noisy
Excellent food, atmosphere and service! 5/5 every time (and we go often!)
Very good service. Very good food. Disappointed in ambience; loud
Always a great place to eat at and the service is great. Will be back for sure!
Had friends visiting from out of town and they insisted on taking us out for dinner to Piva because they had heard about the restaurant from other friends from Seattle. Our experience was fabulous from the greeting at the door to the greeting at the door when we left - they seem to have all of the little details taken care of...and this is New West! Recommendations on food and wine were on point, drinks were never empty, napkins on our laps and re-folded when we left the table, cutlery re-set with each course and the manager (or owner) seemingly checking in on almost every table. Give Piva a try and it will not disappoint. Did I mention that their gorgeous patio is opening very soon and that they have a delicious looking brunch menu?
Went to Piva for a Sunday family dinner and everything exceeded our expectations. We all traveled to New West from Vancouver, Port Moody and Langley and this was a super accessible location for all whether we drove or took the train. We sampled a bunch of appetizers including a margherita pizza and they were all great. Then we shared some pastas, the rib eye steak and the ling cod - all so good AND, in New West! Desserts were spectacular and the wine list seemed so carefully selected with such a friendly price point that we were astonished. Bring your family and friends, this place is awesome.
Restaurant is beautiful. Food was great. Service was amazing. The grilled octopus was delicious but the vongole was amazing.
Had a great birthday celebration with surprise birthday service! The waitress was excellent and the pizza was exceptional. Will definitely go back.
• booked reservations easily with Open table app
• greeted warmly by hostess
• got seated right away without the wait
• menu for summer special available
• a good place for drinks, meeting up friends
• interesting art: Batman head Terracotta warrior
• let’s talk about food
- Grilled Squid: soft, tender, clean taste with a bed of roasted mashed tomatoes plus olives. Felt like I was eating while I’m in Spain. This is what it taste like!
- Mushroom pizza: I highly recommend their pizzas. Perfect thin crust, good amount of cheese, lovely flavours from mushrooms, sage leaves and truffle oil.
- Proscuitto & Arugula pizza: lovely combination
• Pizzas are awesome at Piva, starts from $18 a bit pricey but well worth it and quality is good here.
• efficient, good service
• average $30/person without drinks
• pay street parking using “Passport Canada” app, coins/credit card through the parking machines
• will come back for more!
Six of us girls enjoyed a beautiful night out, celebrating a friend's birthday at Piva. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. The thing that made our dining experience unforgettable was the extra special attention that we got from the owner. He came around to our table and made sure that everything was perfect for our special celebration. It was a wonderful evening.
Second time to Piva. On both occasions, we were impressed by the quality, freshness and taste of our selections. We'll be back.
great new restaurant, service is outstanding. highly recommend
The food was very good and the service was outstanding. Our server made suggestions which we appreciated. The only complaint we had was that it was a bit noisy
I wasn't totally spoiled on my second visit back! The waiter and manager provided a totally personal experience and my dad thought I was some kind of celebrity. They know how to treat people to make you keep coming back! Oh yeah, and the food is phenomenal too (and the dessert as always). Love their wine list and so sad I can't buy the same ones myself. Oh well, yet another excuse to go back to Piva!
Had fathers day dinner here and it was our first visit with our 2 month old. They were so friendly and accommodating. Our baby sat comfortably with us and the staff interacted with him. Food was also great and reasonably priced. Thank you Christopher and staff for anticipating all of our needs!
I have been to Piva many times. The Spaghetti with the Bolognese sauce is a favourite. One thing I will say is that they need to change their sauce to pasta ratio. This actually would go in their favour as there is too much sauce and it seems to get a little heavy at the end. You also have too really like rich food if you are going to order the mushroom pizza. There is a mix of mushrooms and I think the majority are porcini which are oily. That and the cauliflower purée make it a little over the top rich. And finally,
Overall it is great. New West has finally gotten a trending upscale restaurant!! Perhaps it will encourage more restaurant owners to set up in the area. If Piva is any indication, it will be successful!
I think this restaurant still has room for improvement in terms of food and service. The five of us had dinner for my birthday tonight. The focaccia bread ($3/basket) was not impressive. If you get the chance to try it at Il Fornaio in Seattle, you must!! Piva's bread is plain and dry.
I had the Fettuccine - the pasta was not 'al dente'. They threw way too much parsley into the dish and kept all the stems that can't be chewed. One of us ordered the steak and asked for rare but came medium instead. The steak looked quite sad - small and dry.
The snapper dish was not great either. The blood orange beurre blanc is runny and watered down.
The waiter actually told me to move my appetizer plate so he could place my entree down. It wasn't very graceful in tone.
Overall, i think it has stuff to work on still.
Service was spectacular !
We went early for dinner one night (before 6pm) when the place was empty, asked for a booth. The hostess refused as she said they were reserved. Again, the place was literally empty, so she assigned the two of us in a table in the middle of the floor. My friend's chair got kicked twice during the first 30 mins after we sat down. We had to ask the waiter help us moved the table back away from their service counter. Again only a handful of tables were occupied at the time, and the booths were free. Not sure whom they were reserved for?! The food was great, and our waiter made up for the experience. The Manager seemed to greet and chat with the patrons he probably knew well. Never stopped by once to say Hi or anything. Oh well.....if they really would to make a mark and brand as a high end(ish) in New West, they need to step up the game like serve us the way a Downtown highend would serve us, especially we are paying close to a $30 plate of pasta!!
Went out with a few girlfriends and suggested they come to New West from Vancouver...they were skeptical at first but all felt it was well worth the drive after. We shared the antipasto, crab cakes, carpaccio and polenta fries - all were fabulous and some of us thought they were the best we had ever tried. Wine list was spectacular. For dessert we shared the For Nonna and lemon tart and they were sooo good. We will definitely be back and my friends are looking forward to their next trip to New Westminster!
Alex was amazing!!
Really enjoyed my time at Piva, the service was wonderful, the food was delicious and I loved the ambiance.
Service was horrible, had to drink someone else's water before mine was filled up. Drinks were hard to order so only had one! Had to ask for our bill and felt bad interrupting the staff chatting to do so. Having staff sitting at the bar in work clothes and crocs brought the look of the restaurant down. Staff very interested in chatting to co workers who were off shift than serving. Manager on duty was fantastic in coming up with an option for my daughter so he gets high praise but as front of house staff he needs to pay more attention to tables than staff hanging out.
Went to Piva on a busy Saturday night and the vibe was amazing - it had the hustle and bustle of a downtown restaurant. The server suggested we try their family style menu and it was all awesome! First we had their antipasto platter, then we had two pasta's - the For Nonno and the Seafood Fettucine and both were great. For the main course we had the rib eye steak and ling cod - the ling cod was great but the rib eye was outstanding! And if that wasn't enough, we finished with a dessert platter that was the perfect finish to the meal. We also had some great wines and cool cocktails to make our experience highly memorable. I highly recommend this place and it is worth the drive (or train ride which we took from Vancouver).
