With our Corsican and Niçoise roots in mind, we have created a selection of refine mises en bouche to be shared casually, just like in the South of France where we are from.
Our wine selection are all privately imported and evolves constantly.
We offer the largest selection of Corsican wines in Montréal.
Monday to saturday 5:00 pm–11:00 pm
J'y retournerai certainement.
Corsican restaurant that proudly displays its roots , cozy dining room as well as a neighboring area, warmly greeted by the charming gentleman who made us feel welcome from the getgo . It’s not a convention restaurant, they have a large selection of mini bites and a few main dishes , which is what we did . Arancini, beet salad, olive tapenade and the amazing pissaladiere were our appies , the latter being a flatbread with braised and caramelized onions and herbs really did me good. Mains was the magret of duck , a huge portion , with two sauces ( a sour cherry fruit confit and a onion marmalade) . I had onglet ( hanger) which was quite tasty . Had a glass of Corsican red wine, the semper fidelis tjat was most delicious ! In all , nice and cozy and would recommend it
Early dinner before a show — very quiet. Very well-informed and attentive service. Delicious tapas, several with a Corsican flair. My only complaint - and this is common with lots of restaurants — is that there were no desserts available that were not made with milk, cream or butter.
This quaint little restaurant was absolutely fantastic. The tapas style meals are greatly portioned and atmosphere was incredible. We sat beside the fire after being absolutely soaked with rain before from the weather outside and it just made for a very enjoyable experience. Marc was amazing and he is absolutely one to go above and beyond. He's really what made our night! Absolutely recommend this place.
Everything was so lovely. My friends and I had a lovely time at dinner. We enjoyed all the plates we ordered: the tapas, the steak and tuna mains, desserts, drinks and the bottle of red Provence. The service was so wonderful too. Thank you for a pleasant experience and congratulations on your 10 year anniversary!
It was fine as an overall. A bit disappointed by the" dessert of the moment",as it did not really correspond to the description we were given of it. Fantastic spot to be at though and the service is top notch and friendly. Quiet place to enjoy tapas. I have to admit I walked in with my fiancée realizing at the last moment it was a tapas bar, when we thought we were walking into a bistro serving starter, main course, dessert. Our bad. We had a reservation so we decided to stay and give it a try. In this case we ordered a bit of everything given the small portions meant to be shared. It was not bad, it reminded us of home. (France)
Food, Service & great company!
Nice Corsican restaurant. Food was tasty, wine was private importation and service very good.
great food and great service. will definitely go back
Sorry it took us 12 years to finally try this neighbourhood resto. What a gem! Very cozy, great food & service, unique wine selection (not overpriced). Will be returning on a regular basis.
We were visiting Montréal from the Bahamas and read great reviews about Plein Sud. As suggested we made reservations for a table of 3. We very eagerly looked forward to having dinner with our son there. When we arrived at Plein Sud the middle aged man and woman behind the bar did not greet us right away and seemed in no rush to seat us. Did we look unfamiliar? Maybe. But we were treated very nonchalantly and neither of the workers seemed the slightest bit interested in hearing about our reservation. It was very awkward. My husband and I discussed whether or not to leave quietly but we decided to stay and give this place a chance. We ordered and the food was unimpressive, portions were on the small side and lacking in flavor. The middle aged woman was the most offensive; forgetting to bring forks for our meal and acting flustered , hard of hearing and too busy. We didn’t complain, we just put it down to the fact that this couple must be used to only hosting locals in their establishment, so when tourists walk in it surprises and annoys them. We left Plein Sud confused and offended by this couple’s behavior. If we didn’t know better we would think they were predjudiced against those that don’t resemble their regular clientele. We will NEVER recommend Plein Sud to anyone! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
Very enjoyable dining experience. We will visit again.
We found this gem in the neighbourhood we were staying in, and would definitely return. The service was excellent, good menu and delicious food.
Awesome restaurant. Great service, food, and ambience. The cod and shrimp pasta are excellent.
Dined here alone on a weekday night when I was in Montreal. I really liked that I was seated right next to the open window so I had opportunity to people watch while I enjoyed my meal. Owner was friendly and welcoming, and restaurant was generally quiet with romantic ambiance.
Flavorful. It reminded us of our trips to south of France.
Good food. Great wine special for $20 on a Tuesday night. Friendly, casual atmosphere.
The owners of the restaurant are charming, and the food was excellent. The duck and the veal were both outstanding, and the liver was very good also.
This is a classic French restaurant with traditional dishes done extremely well in a casual, comfortable space.
There is also a pasta of the day which is always well conceived.
There were 6 of us,who ordered across the menu, from rare steak frites, to pork to pasta to tuna. They all came out perfectly.
Service was when needed, knowledgeable and competent. The wine list is modest but thoughtful. Those who had dessert were very pleased. The cappuccino was good.
This is definitely a place you come back to, even with all the choices you have in Montreal.
The food was exquisite. The service is very friendly and professional. It was not our first visit and it will not be the last.
PS.
Amazing food, great experience
Food was good and nice atmosphere. Service was a bit slow but friendly staff.
A nice friendly, warm, family owned bistro with a touch of Corsica. Great food and wine, reasonable price. We've been here before and will return.
What a lovely dinner -- would gladly go back for the fantastic French/Corsica preparations. Lamb shank was extremely well-prepared and my husband's gnocchi was also fantastic.
Plein Sud proved to live up to its reputation. The menu was interesting and offered something for everyone with many unique French cuisine options. The food was superb, thoughtfully prepared and very well presented. And most importantly very tasty. The atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect, ideal for enjoying the cuisine and for conversation. Server was knowledgeable and obviously proud of his restaurant and its offerings.
Overall, we (a family of four, with two teenagers) had an exceptional experience at Plein Sud and we will return the next time we are in Montreal.
Great food in a fun atmosphere. Had a very local feel and every mad us feel welcome.
Wonderful setting, delightful staff, amazing food.
The menu was a bit different from online menu. Heavy dish selections for summer dining, but this seemed to be true of other restaurants we visited on this trip. The restaurant ambiance is lacking so we sat outside where we prayed a bus wouldn't swerve into us. However the food and service was very good. Recommend the linguine with coppa, corsican veal with gnocchi and steak frites
We recently enjoyed two dinners at Plein Sud and hope to return before we leave Montreal. The food was authentic and excellent, the environment relaxed and friendly, and there was a pleasantly eclectic group of diners.
Highly recommended for a lovely dinner at a local neighborhood bistro.
