Server was very welcoming and very professional, and the food was outstanding.
Wonderful experience start to finish.
Went for an anniversary supper and really enjoyed the meal. We did the 5 course and Matthew was our waiter...he was outstanding! The pasta course was both of our favorites!! Looking forward to going back again!!
First time coming to Primal and it was amazing. Very knowledgeable, polite staff. Covid measures are in place but they put a nice twist on the space between tables with a plant. And it's actually so much better, should just stay that way..... Then you don't have to look at the table next to you.
Excellent food with helpful friendly service.
Unfortunately covid distancing does make the restaurant seem a bit barren. but happy to be safe.
Outstanding menu and great presentation/taste of food. Very enjoyable meal and experience. Service was a little slow, but understandable with just returning after the Covid shutdown.
Great food and great service! So happy that they have reopened. Miss the Thursday night special.
This was my second time at primal, and it was just as good as the first. The food is amazing, and the staff staff are very friendly and accommodating. We were the only table on Monday night before they postponed service for the rest of the week, and we were treated very well - we were even given complimentary desert! Primal’s menu is handmade, sourced locally, and extremely good, so what more can you ask for?
As always, we were greeted at the door with a smile and led directly to our table. We always appreciate that the staff acknowledges us as frequent customers. The service was very attentive and they always make us feel like we are dining in our own home. The food was unbelievable and lived up to every expectation! Thanks for another excellent experience!!
Really good food. Loved the berry sangria. All of the portions are reasonable. Everyone enjoyed their meal. With the upcoming social distancing push, I am hoping the restaurant will offer takeout. It is a little noisy and could use some acoustic upgrades.
Great atmosphere with amazing food and wine. The Thursday pasta and wine deal can’t be beat. My favourite restaurant in the city.
This is a nice restaurant in a reviving neighbourhood. Salad made from greens grown in the basement was very good. A cool surprise. I love agnolotti and gave the pork one a try. It came in a salty/porky broth, that was just OK, for the highish price.
Dinner was nice (two dishes, pasta and pork plus desert), but our request to share was not handled properly, both dishes were served at the same time, wish gave us no time to enjoy each course separately, rather disappointing!
The food was very flavorful. Ravioli was stuffed with maybe 1/2 tsp, not impressive. Husband was definitely hungry after. Cheesecake was to die for. The incense was overbearing. Felt like I was in church- hubby had a cold so it drove him nuts.
Glad we went, like to support local. But not sure if I would choose this place again. Maybe for dessert.
I take out of town guests to this restaurant often and every time the food/service is excellent!
Appetizers were delicious (fried bread and chili garlic broccolini), mains were delicious (taglitele mushroom alfredo, and pork agnolotti), and service was great! Would definitely recommend. Atmosphere was cozy and quiet.
Amazing food, service and cool place. Highly recommend. Top 2 Pasta in saskatoon easily.
The house made pasta is excellent as is everything on the menu. We started the meal with salad, smoked olives, and fried bread. All were delicious. My husband had carbonara and I had the risotto. Though the risotto was a little sweet, both were perfect. We finished with the lemon pudding and tiramisu. Light and not too sweet. Excellent service, quiet ambiance, and a perfectly paced meal. We will definitely be back.
Always fantastic!!!! Absolutely amazing food and wine. 11/10 every time
Counter seating should not be used for 2 person reservations. At a pub I can understand be jammed beside strangers but not for a $100 pasta meal.
Simple and beautiful would go back again and again
Fantastic! Service was great and the food was exceptional!
I always love going to Primal, I’ve never had a bad meal. The only issue is trying to narrow down your choice to one dish! No matter what, GET THE FRIED BREAD!
My wife had a hair in her food at my sons birthday dinner. She brought it to waitress attention in quiet way to not embarrass her or make a scene. Should not have been so nice and accepting...no acknowledgment from chef or any consideration on bill even though she could only eat half the meal.
Absolutely, the chef's capture the exact essence of the name of the restaurant in their food. From the fact that they butcher their own animals or that they grow their own greens and make their own soaps, Primal speaks to what it means to keep things local and simple. An amazing dining experience with extremely knowledgeable staff that can answer any question you may have. My wife and I enjoyed our dining experience very much and the food and service was well worth the price tag!
We have always had wonderful service and great food here. Appetizers are a bit overpriced. Only consideration we would like to see is more typical Italian desserts like cannoli.
Everything was delicious. Will definitely be back!
Always enjoy our visits to Primal when in Saskatoon. Menu choices are excellent in creativity and variety. Food is usually excellently prepared however this past visit the ravioli was slightly undercooked making it more than chewy. Otherwise all was fantastic.
The food was a flavour explosion. Everything we (5 guests) had was delicious. Oh the end of the meal treat, homemade chocolates that melt in your mouth.
Good food with adequate portions. Our waitress was attentive and accommodating. The only downside is the pricey wine list.
I have already recommended 'Primal' to friends. The food was really good and the portions were perfect. Nice size of establishment -- cannot beat simple decor. Thank you. We will see you again.

Food was great! Service was good! Due to our age, the noise level made conversation a bit difficult. Will definitely go back!
Amazing server!! He perfectly described menu items and the flavours we would experience. He was laid back and easy to chat with. The food was phenomenal too!! We had the rigatoni and the carrot top pesto spaghetti. By far the best pasta we’ve had in Saskatoon. Also the price was reasonable considering the service and the food we received. We will definitely be coming back!! :)
We just came back from Calgary, Alberta and had enjoyed dining at Ten Foot Henry and Bridgette Bar. These are rated some of the best restaurants in Alberta, if not Canada. They to, serve family style dishes like Primal!
We wanted to continue our dive into family style dining and decided to try out Primal for New Years Eve. We had the set course. I find it odd that the set course is family style, yet each person is charged $65.00. That isn’t family style. Family style is sharing multiple plates and paying per plate. I suppose perhaps you are paying ‘per serving’ however it was incredibly overpriced.
We enjoyed the arugula salad, bread, and the pasta (ravioli oxtail and mushroom tagliatelle alfredo). It was great.
However the Prime Rib course with carrots, potatoes and kale was atrocious. The prime rib’s outer edge was overcooked as if it had been cooked cold to begin. The outer edge was also the only part properly seasoned. The rib roast clearly didn’t have enough salt or pepper to penetrate the large piece of meat. The inner part was bland and flavourless. The carrots were undercooked and again, flavourless. Although the plating doesn’t matter a whole lot, it just looked unappetizing and was not what either of us expected.
We would of had it sent back however as it was prime rib for an NYE set menu, we doubted that they would have anything ready to replace it. For a $200.00 bill, this was the most underwhelming experience I have ever endured.
The only upside to the entire experience was that the service was great and the pasta truly was very good.
Hit or miss, New Year’s Eve dinner started well but the main event was bland, not what I would expect for a $200+ dinner for two. Previous dinners were great, but this one fell flat.
The service was impeccable, the wine was wonderful and the food exceptional.
Thank you helping make our evening great.
This is a fantastic place for authentic Italian food! The appetizers were delicious: bison carpaccio with pickled walnuts and fried artichokes... I could have eaten that all night! I don't think there is a bad item on this menu, try it all and enjoy!
The room was warm, the service quick and the meal was fantastic.
The server was super knowledgeable and helpful and the dish was delicious
Great Homemade Pasta! Delicious appetizers, but the pasta is what will keep me coming back for more. Great work!
Lovely meals. Perfect attention from the waitress.
