Prime & Provisions Steakhouse
While the menu reconnects with traditional steakhouse roots, the decor highlights the vintage opulence of 222 North LaSalle's "Crown Building" and creates a social experience that connects the modern-day patron with the sophistication and glamor of the era in which the building was first constructed.
Prime & Provisions also offers a variety of private and semi-private dining spaces, including Prime Private, one of the largest and most intimate private dining rooms in Chicago.

What Insiders Are Saying
Prime & Provisions is the kind of steakhouse that fits a few different needs. Steaks are good, plus a few wildcard dishes elevate things to the next step.
My family & I celebrated my son's 13th/GOLDEN BIRTHDAY this past Sunday. From the moment we walked in, encountered staff at the buffet and our wait staff Timothy. The food was fresh and delicious- we even enjoyed cabbage and corned beef as well. Just an over all AMAZING experience .
Excelente comida, servicio excepcional!
It was my birthday and I had a wonderful time. I was pleased and my guest were pleased from the food to the service. Our waiter Michael was so attentive to our needs and treated us very well!!
Food seemed quite average especially regarding price.
Second visit to this restaurant. I always try to get there when I visit Chicago on business. Great place to take guest and enjoy a great meal. Great selection of drinks at thge bar as well.
Our service was TERRIBLE. Party of 2 we were sat at a table for 4. The other place settings and wine glasses were never cleared. Sat at a high top next to the bar .... club level music was playing. Waitress didn’t know what “Pittsburgh style” was for steak prep.
Had high expectations but this place really fell short. Attention to detailed service was just not there. When spending that kind of money for a meal I expect more than the service you’d get at a Chili’s. Needless to say I will not recommend or be back.
The food was delicious and the service was wonderful, spot on.
Service was horrible! I will not be going back! The waiter was rushing my table to finish our meal! Unpleasant experience from start to finish. This was definitely my first and last time going to this restaurant.
Good food, good menu but not worth what we paid. Better value at other places.
Place felt like a high end steakhouse.
Service is what you would expect at a high end steakhouse.
Definitely had better value for the price. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just that I think you could find a better steak elsewhere, and when you’re paying that kind of money, it’s disappointing. The wines have a pretty hefty up charge as well.
This was first time my friend and I visited Prime and Provisions. We were both well pleased.
The hostess was polite as directed us to the table. The server, Mike Dempsey, made several excellent recommendations and was knowledgeable about the menu. He made an excellent pairing with the New York strip which was delicious. The first course was thick-cut bacon which was tasty. Good were the sides of whipped potatoes & roasted Brussels sprouts.
The Belle Glos Pinot was marvelous!
Also, the assistant servers of Leonardo & Brandie were professional & friendly.
Excellent service. Great food and drinks. Very pricey. Loved it
Excellent service, excellent food and excellent ambiance...
The waitress was attentive and offered several suggestions that were spot on!
The food was cooked to perfection!!
The price was expensive not much options to choose from. The crab was danty and shrimp was fishy. Desserts seem out of a box. Nothing special.
The food was absolutely stellar! We started the evening out with a classic Tuna Tartare, which was mixed table-side (As it should) and was evidently fresh and well seasoned. I highly recommend the 16oz Bone-In Filet Mignon; the marbling was dense and the dry-aging clearly drew out notes of blue cheese. In addition to the the aforementioned cut, the french onion soup was delightfully rich in marrow flavor and left me nearly buzzing. It's been a while since food has had this effect on me. The sides were skillfully executed and complimented the main event quite well; I must recommend the creamed spinach. The ambiance was upbeat, but mellow enough to enjoy a proper meal and a few old-fashioned cocktails. I will be returning, as this was my first visit and first impressions are everything. Well done! For a few hundred a head, this place has its dinner service down to a T.
Absolutely perfect evening! My husband and I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary. Thank you!!
Andreas was a service person he was outstanding. It was our 30th anniversary and he made it memorable!
Food was fantastic!
SERVICE was EXCELLENT
Loved our waiter!!! His knowledge of the entire menu and his suggestions were on point! Great food!
This was our first time here, and we loved it!!! Our server was amazing, helped us pick out some good cuts. Can’t wait to come back, the lobster crab cake was unreal!!
Expensive AF porterhouse but they they were good. The peanut-butter chocolate dessert was the best. The old fashion was good too. You can’t go wrong.
Okay. Felt rushed even though empty tables around us. Plates taken from table as soon as you put your fork down regardless if others were still eating.
Food and drinks were great!! I had the Pork chop and it was savoury.
Outstanding food, service and venue. Ideal for business meals.
Centrally located in the heart of Chicago's Financial District, this restaurant is the best around for delivery of product, product quality and atmosphere. The waitstaff was attentive but not overbearing, and the cuisine was prepared to perfection.
Good dinner, nothing really special about it. Pretty loud and too expensive....
Great steak and excellent service!
Smells great! I had seafood this visit, which was good!! But I’ll have to try the steak next time.
Early bird diners on a Sunday at 4:00 before a show and the place was empty. Although we were the only diners, slow to seat, slow for water, slow for drinks EVERYTHING. Ignored. Food was beyond average and with only one table to fire how could they get it so wrong! Salmon over cooked and the filet was medium well and cold, banana cream pie for dessert looked like it was made days ago and they just put some whipped cream on the top. NOT A FAN WILL NOT BE BACK.
Very nice brunch with our server, Stephane, who made sure we had everything we needed for a great morning meal.
Seafood was cold and fresh. Bread pudding was best I’ve ever had. Definitely coming back soon.
We requested a last minute reservation (went on the app around 8:45 PM). Was able to get a table. We were provided a great booth center restaurant looking outside. So we were happy to get in last minute and snare a great table. Nathan was our waiter that night. What a great guy. He provided excellent service, answered every question we had and made sure we did not over order. Great guy, fun, energetic and can tell he loves to deal with people. A real positive person. We have been to this restaurant many times and each time the food is always on point and the service is also well managed. Look forward to our next time.
While my meal was excellent, my boyfriend’s steak was too charred. At this price point, we expect the food to be perfect. The wines are a bit overpriced compared to other restaurants at this level. On the other hand, we were seated for our reservation immediately and the service was excellent.
My one critique is that they crammed too many tables into the space. Perhaps the normal layout is more generous, but there were many larger groups and to accommodate, the restaurant used table extenders, where a large circle is put over the existing top. Chairs were then pushed out and more were added, all into the existing space. This made it difficult to weave through to the tables. This also made a loud room even louder, since diners now are seated back-to-back with strangers.
I think there are better steakhouses in Chicago. Very very noisy, uninteresting presentation.
Celebrated our 3 year anniversary before Hamilton. Great time and service.
We secured a reservation for 12 at 830 for a 9pm reservation which was wonderful. The food was timely and great! The best part of the experience was our waitress Julia. Her recommendations and style was 5 star. Several people at our table mentioned how great she was after dinner.
Servers and bus staff are super attentive and informative.
Great location and good Chicago steak recommendation
Great food, great staff. Always a good time when i am there.
Great Chicago restaurant. Reservation went without a hitch, walked through the door and met with a friendly hostess, who seated us almost immediately. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. She was able to make excellent recommendations to give us an excellent experience. The menu is pricey, but you get ample portions, prepared to a high level.
