Anniversary meal after date. Great food, superb drinks, nice ambience, quiet and comfy.
We went to Provision based on an Eater guide of Calgary's must eat restaurants - perhaps I was reading an old guide, however this meal was over very disappointing. It was a snowy night in Calgary and arriving up to this cute building in the park with cozy warm lighting on the exterior seemed promising from behind however upon arrival the space was too bright and lacked any sort of comfortable atmosphere. Our service was mediocre at best. We had the cheese plate, beet salad, steak and gnocchi and every dish was under seasoned. Bland. Boring. Overpriced. They have fairly expensive bottles of wine of their wine list which are all served in stemless wine glasses. I would suggest saving your money and going elsewhere.
Had a fantastic time and wonderful food. We will be back
Everything was on point! Food, drinks, ambiance and service were all fantastic.
Great location, was able to change real, Staff were great, food was delicious!!! Cozy place, great for date night!
I have been to Provision many time and especially in the summertime . I recently tried in the colder season and will say the ambience is excellent and is very cozy inside with the nice wood interior ceiling plus the glitter of the Memorial Park trees looking outside . We had a nice get together with friends and found our dining experience most enjoyable . Will definitely make another visit before the year end . Thank you !
Nice place but eh food was not good. Gnocchi was bland with no sauce even though it said bechemel sauce. The pork belly was chewy in a bed of greasy, undercooked cabbage chunks. The flatiron steak was rare and had to be sent back.
On top of it all our waitress was rude and dismissive of us until it came time for the tip. Then her personality came out. We will not be returning here.
We had read about Provision from a Calgary top 20 restaurant article, looking forward to a new restaurant to add to our list of "future go to places" we made a reservation. Upon arrival we were taken to our table near the door even though the majority of the restaurant was open.
We ordered some appetizers and our main course meals, both the appetizers and the meals arrived in a timely manners but all were very disappointing. Meals were not all hot, some over cooked and the overall presentation was very disappointing. Based on some of the other top trending restaurants we have been to lately like "Ten Foot Henry" I would suggest trying other restaurants first.
Saw this restaurant in the park on a visit to nearby Memorial Library, was intrigued and went to try it out with a friend for a meal before a concert at Palace Theatre. Nearby street parking and comfortable walking distances to and from the theatre. Loved the cozy, open concept small restaurant ambience. You can see the chefs at work or look out at the park. Food was outstanding. My friend and I shared the root vegetable salad, the squash risotto and the fish special. All absolutely delicious. And our wine choice available in a half-carafe was perfect. Will definitely be coming back.
We went to Provision for my fiancé’s birthday. The food, wine, atmosphere, service was all incredible. We will definitely be returning.
Great setting, staff and food. Very reasonably priced and definitely worth a visit
There is a dearth of good restaurants in the area and when it was Boxwood, this place was great. Provision was fine, but not outstanding. It would have been nice to have smaller portion of gnocchi with some veg on the side (only option to add veg was overpriced starter salads). Ambience feels a bit like being in a log cabin, which could be cute but it didn't match the Top 40 radio. Provision seems a bit lost, like it doesn't quite know its brand. You'll have a decent meal for sure, but there's much better out there.
Just bought land on cape San Blas. Checking out local foods my wife and I came in on Friday night The food service location were outstanding. Once we build our home we will be regulars
Despite the small menu we always find many items that we want to try. Absolutely loved the grilled romaine salad. I hope it's still on the menu the next time we visit.
Went to Provision on a Thursday evening and thought it would be busy, but in total there were only 8 customers. I understand why there was only one server responsible for both indoor and outdoor service. From my perspective the setting is great in Central Memorial Park, but it may be off the beaten path for most people. It’s not an extensive menu, but the food was cooked properly, just under seasoned. Compared to their sister restaurant, Avec Bistro, this was a little lacklustre overall. If you’re in the area, it’s worth considering, but not worth going out of your way.
The veggie risotto had very little vegetables in it. Paid $4 for extra smoked bacon and there was one slice at most of bacon added. Portion was very small for the cost, not a good value.
What a gem! Fantastic food and service in a beautiful setting! The community and City of YYC must support this business to keep its doors opened! We love it!
Food was delicious. Service was great. Perfect location. I needed to be clearer on my dietary restriction though. Our entire family are celiac and unfortunately one of the dishes we ordered contained gluten. It put a slight damper on what was otherwise a fantastic evening. Despite the blip we will be going back for sure. We’ve already recommended the location to friends and family.
Loved having a special glass of wine and salad here on a hot afternoon.
My friends and I went to provision for a nice dinner out. The patio there is beautiful and is what attracted us to the restaurant. The owner is very friendly and the food was great, they did a great job of making modifications to my meal because of food allergies. We found the service to be very poor the night we visited.
Slower evening so I found the service a little over attentive. Meals were good but nothing extraordinary.
Fabulous meal. No complaints. It didn't suffer from trying to be too clever!
I liked the food to share. Just the apple crumble dessert was not so good, love the surroundings ;)
The service was great and they have a great patio. The food was okay. The waitress raved about the soup of the day so I tried it; a small cup of cream of potato soup that just tasted okay, was not worth $7. The beet salad was good and could have been improved by a few more dabs of chèvre and perhaps some different coloured beets. My friend had the chicken sandwich (lunch special) and she thought it was very good.
Brunch, as advertised on their website. Booked table. Arrived Sunday 11-00am and only people there.
They do not, in fact, open for brunch! Apparently their website is way out of date. Not good customer care.
Food was good though and service very efficient but friendly.
The food was excellent.... Simple but with complex flavors and perfect execution. The service, however, was cold to the point of feeling like a harsh wind chilling an otherwise great meal. Disinterested. Curt. Unhelpful. We would love to dine again, but won't because the servers made the experience too unpleasant to repeat - even for the excellent food.
Had dinner with a group of friends. Although technically the menu is not tapas we all like to share so ordered a variety of appetizers and entres to be shared. The service was very good and although limited, the wine selections were good and not overpriced. The food was all excellent with great presentation. Will definitely come again and ideally on a warm day when we can eat on their patio.
Well the waitress was surly and this coloured my experience. I found fault with everything. If you want me to keep my cutlery after my first course, please give me a plate to rest them on, the table was uncovered and dirty. The salmon although delicious was just served with vegetables, no starch. The burger also delicious, the bun was too crispy, especially the lid so it fell apart when pick d up, making for a messy experience.
This is a great location for dinner special on a lovely summers evening.
Food was good but nothing mind blowing. Think this would be a better spot for lunch.
They need a lunch menu. All they have is dinner entrees and a burger. It’s a dinner menu and not great for lunch, a few sandwich type choices would make sense.
They do have the best patio in the city.
We had a very nice Mother's day brunch on their patio. I would recommend this restaurant.
Great service (as always) and an amazing back patio overlooking the park. There are even a few fountains in the park over the summer months, which makes for a pretty nice backdrop for any meal. Food is always very good, although some of their plates / appetizers are a little on the pricey side. We will definitely be back sometime soon!
I would like to come back when the weather is patio friendly. I felt somewhat cramped inside the restaurant. The food was great, but I think the portions were too small for the price.
The menu is not up to date in open table. It took 45 minutes for food to come out to our table. The risotto was bland and they don't tell you up front that they charge for still water.
Very enjoyable way to spend a long lunch hour with a good friend. The park setting is fabulous and the food was too.
What a gem. The setting is wonderful, the building is cute/intimate with lots of windows. The food is great value for the price. Portions are small/normal so you can order three courses without feeling like you’ve over indulged; quality and preparation/flavour of the food is excellent. Staff are very knowledgeable.
Everything was good but the portion sizes were a tad small.
Had a wonderfully cooked piece of salmon and my companion had a fantastic burger.Great comfortable little cabin in the Beltline cannot wait for this snow to evaporate and sit on the patio.
We love the food here. Fresh, thoughtful, unpretentious, top quality. A bit of a hidden gem.
