Pubblico Italian Kitchen
Our group of 6 loved everything about Pubblico! One person stated it was their new favourite Italian place. My husband and I had been several times previously and wanted to share the food and ambiance with our friends. Our compliments to the chef - Josh Cocca, for the twist on classic Italian. The starter, Fiore di Zucca (stuffed zucchini blossoms) were sensational. It was the first time we have seen this item on a menu in Calgary. The burrata dish alla puttanesca was very well received as were the pastas. We loved the shared arugula salad and the veal cheek brasato was outstanding. We appreciated the corkage allowance since we like to bring a bottle from our cellar. The second bottle from their excellent wine list was a splendid Barolo. We finished with a cannoli, light pastry with a scrumptious citrus filling. All in all, we had an exceptional evening and all six will definitely return.
The ambiance is superb and Samantha did a great job hosting us.
Interesting menu, excellent food and service.
The food was wonderful and the staff was so nice and accommodating!
The staff was very attentive. The food was truly fantastic. It tastes like home made. Great times.
Thanks for a beautiful dining experience! We are seniors and need small portions so shared each course! That was perfect for us! We ordered the brussels sprouts which were delicious but a very large bowl of them....Would have been nicer to have a mixed veggie (too much sameness!)
The beef cheeks were magnificent! The creme caramel was awesome( I know it wasn't called creme caramel!)
Our server was just the right amount of everything: timing, grace and hospitality!
The restaurant had beautiful ambience with lightjng and just the right level of music! Thanks !!!! The patio was calling us for another night...
Overall the place is great. Great ambience, great service and interesting twist to traditional Italian food. The price point is a bit higher. But other than that rest all is all good!
This was our second time here and we are now sold on this place. Our service from Jennifer and Daryl was top notch and personable. They took my last comments to heart and are improving the washrooms. The menu was slightly different and I love that they freshen it up according to ingredients etc., but keep the same elements. Very authentic Italian food!! Both times took me back to the great meals I had in Italy. So happy to have a gem like this in Marda Loop. We will definitely be back.
Excellent service and food preparation.
Went for Valentine’s Day. They had a set menu which we weren’t aware of, but the selection was still good. However, the service was so slow that it took 30 minutes to get a glass of wine. The appetizer actually arrived before the drinks. The meal took almost an hour and then they rushed dessert out to us before we were even done our main course. In addition, the tables were so close together that it feels like you are dining with the other two couples beside you. We definitely won’t be back.
Love the food! You need to go!
Terrific spot. Great food and good value. Family friendly yet nice for client entertaining and for a date. We will be back.
Great spot for business dinner, date, friend or family get together. Cheerful staff, excellent Italian food and wine list … someone knows what they're doing here!
Great evening, amazing food. Definitely worth checking out!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal & service. A very interesting & fresh take on Italian cuisine. Every dish we ordered was a delight to the tastebuds. Our server was excellent, fun and helpful. We prefer smaller more intimate restaurant settings but will return just for the food and service.
Loved the food and the service. The upstairs washrooms were too pub-like considering the prices and atmosphere. They need to remove the cheesy ads (vampire facial anyone?) and correct the misspelled signs (ahem: womens?). The monk fish appy was not very good but everything else we had (zucchini flowers, oxtail pasta, and veal cheeks) was five stars. Our waitress was lovely. Super personable. We will definitely try it again.
We had such an enjoyable night! Great food, beautiful atmosphere and awesome service! Can’t wait to go back again!
Great new place! The food speaks for its self, authentic Italian with a modern twist. Go check it out!
Super fun atmosphere! Very pretty, with a modern twist. Family style dining, excellent Burrata bar, what a treat!
waiter was wonderful. On the other hand there is no place for a TV in an Italian restaurant ,its not a sports bar
You have to try the burger!!! Amazing rustic Italian cuisine, great location, underground heated parking, beautiful room!!! Did I mention the incredible food!!
Great food and a firm favourite already
Great food and such a treat for my special birthday.
My husband and I (60’s) were taking our mothers (80’s) to a concert at the Bella and wanted a upscale restaurant with easy access to MRU. Pubblico absolutely filled the bill!
We were hoping for a relaxed dinner so opted for an early reservation. When we arrived we were the only diners, hence the “Quiet” rating. Kudos to the staff who had been watching the hockey game on the large screen over the bar; it was immediately turned off. Thank you for that!
Our experience at Publicco was top notched from our arrival (complimentary underground heated parking!!), to the appetizers (the zucchini flowers are a must try!) through to our main dishes (all very tasty).
Thank you Publicco, a Maria Loop gem!
Service was great. Food was meh.
Amazing food, great wine and fantastic service. Good value too!
This new joint had a great vibe - was almost filled to capacity and every table seemed to enjoying either their quiet dinners or their larger celebrations.
Our server was fantastic - very attentive and doting.
Ambience- tastefully decorated with comfortable seating!
Food - menu was not overwhelming with too many choices, but instead has original & creative choices that will please everyone in your party!
The service was excellent from the front end owners greeting to the food service. We had questions about food recipes to where they sourced the wonderful peppery olive oil and all answered quickly. The quality of the food (pasta dishes and Kale salad) was excellent. Cannot think of anything to improve on other than the bread and olive oil should be complimentary vs needing to pay...mind you $4 is not really an issue for fresh baked bread and high end olive oil. The website should be updated with menu etc. We will be back very soon.
