We took the family for a nice dinner just before the latest COVID lockdown. The restaurant had all tables occupied and we were lucky to have reservations. We were more than pleasantly delighted by the generous portions and rich flavours. We had appetizers, pizza and the seafood pastas. Server was knowledgeable and entertaining too. Recommend Publico Italian and conveniently located
Service was great as usual. Loved the burrata. Our daughter had the pizza off the kids menu and it’s really good as well. We will definitely order take out during this next shut down.
We used to rave about this place with the previous menu. We remembered some stand-out dishes like the goat cheese stuffed zucchini flowers and the boar ragout pasta (I think it was a ravioli).
So after coming back to Pubblico with my wife for the first time since the new menu we were excited. Having said this, we were warned by 2 other couples that Pubblico had gone downhill since the new menu. Regardless, we decided to give it a try. We noticed the menu was a lot more traditional; the menu had less flare and simpler pastas which was not necessarily a bad thing. After all, taste is king.
First course we got the pepperoni pizza. Unfortunately, the crust was just not up to par; it was cardboardy and too thick for a traditional Italian pizza. You just cannot expect to put out a good italian pizza if you don't have a brick oven.
Second course, we had the Lobster Gnocchi. Not many positive things to saw. First off, there was only a handful of gnocchi and they were absolutely swimming in sauce. "Would you like some pasta with your sauce" is what we said to each other. Unfortunately, there was lobster detritus in the sauce. Gritty lobster shell, tendon, and tons of that transparent shell that exists between the lobster meat and exterior shell. We couldn't take a bit without getting some foreign lobster grit in our mouths.
Lastly, we ordered the boar chop. Now, I'm not a stickler for service but the pasta (primi course) and the boar (secondi course) both came out at the same time. Anyone who appreciates fine italian dining knows that primi and secondi come subsequently and not at the same time. We were put off by that as our boar chop went cold as we ate our gnocchi. Anyways, the boar chop was fine. It was served with a gorgonzola demi over some vegetables. There were no complaints; everything was cooked fine but having said this, a boar chop is an easy piece of meat to make shine. This dish was too simple.
I would come again if the owners got the old chef back.

I highly recommend dining at Pubblico. My girlfriend and i found the attention provided by our server Jeremy to be friendly and intuitive, getting us what we needed just as we needed it. The food was flavourful, filling and with flair. I would definitely return to soak in more of the intimate ambience that this establishment has to offer. Great date choice!

Experience was amazing, service top notch! Food to die for!!! Whom ever is thinking of going to Pubblico it’s a must... the carbonara is truly the best I’ve had ! The Rib eye was perfectly seasoned and temp! Calamari, Duck confrère salad amazing!! the Head Chef Bruce cooks to perfection! The owners were at our table chatting with made us feel like we were at their home!! Bree our server/ mixologist made us the best gin and tonics bets company that made the night extra thanks Bree!! Deserts are a absolute must!
Lovely to be dining in a restaurant! Food here is very good. Burrata was amazing, and linguine pescatore also very good, if on the rich side.
Wine list is a bit sparse, but hey it’s Covid, so I think restaurants are keeping low inventory until fully opened.
Will definitely return.

This was our first visit. It was a great first impression! There was a private parkade for the restaurant and the elevator took us right into the restaurant. We were seated upstairs in the lounge. It was dimly lit and classy. Had large muted TV’s for sport watchers. My son (19) and I shared the calamari and Funghi pizza. The calamari was not your traditional deep fried, it was slightly pan fried served with some arugula (appetizer and salad all in one). It was very tasty. The Funghi pizza had a tasty variety of mushrooms and soft thin crust (which had flavour). The hubby started with the Caesar salad and said it was one of the best he has ever had. He could taste a hint of anchovy. He then had the Linguine Pescatore, which came in a cream sauce and plenty of larger pieces of seafood and great flavours. The service was very good and staff were friendly. We will definitely be back!

Lasagna was excellent while the Carbonara just didn't cut it as was not creamy. Appetizers of Bison and Shrimp were some of the best i have had. Nice to a local restaurant busy. Wait staff was good but they need to add an IPA to their tap. .

Great atmosphere! Incredible food, and amazing service. I have been a couple times and every time I am not disappointed. Very clean and Covid safe. Definitely my go to spot!

Ravioli was one note. Rich and fatty. Entrees came 5 minutes after the entrees which means we were unable to finish them. Wines by the class were meh. Overpriced for quality of food. Sorry:( I don’t think we’ll be back.
We have many wines by the glass, not sure if you requested a taster first, perhaps it didn't agree with your palate? But we definitely would have accommodated other options.. Our Wine list was put together by a team of sommelier's. Our menu and pricing is based on the experts and quality of our talented Red Seal chef's. It is unfortunate that your mains came so quickly after your appetizers. We welcome you back to try us again, I believe we all deserve a second chance to make a wrong a right:)

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Some confusion in kitchen and parts of order took a bit longer, but well compensated by server via extra wine. It was Valentine’s Day and only 6 days after re-opening due to Covid so I wasn’t too concerned about it.

Food service was slow and the quality was not great. Set menu (2 courses and a dessert) took over 2 hours. Our server was well intentioned, but hard to salvage when things weren’t in her control.
Wow, "brutal/dumpster fire," seems a little harsh, but we take full responsibility. This was our first weekend being reopened after shutdown. We went from two months of take out, to being sold out all weekend. Our kitchen was understaffed last night, and it showed with a few ticket times, unfortunately yours was one of them. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We ordered the Valentines Day special, which was an appetizer, a main and dessert. We waited close to half an hour for drinks to arrive, 1 hr 45 min for our food to arrive and when it did get there it was average. They blamed it on the kitchen being backed up but all the tables around us all received their food well before us, with most of them arriving after us. By that time we asked for our bill. They took 20% off the bill, but considering we left before we had dessert, it was not enough for a ruined evening.

This was our first weekend open post Covid shut down, and we were short staffed due to scheduling, but we take full responsibility. Loved the food, it was delicious. We had a great date night after months of eating at home. Great value and great service. Cant wait to go again with friends when restrictions lift. Loved the atmosphere and the attention to detail.

We attended Pubblico on Valentine’s Day for a family dinner and everything about this restaurant exceeded our expectations! From the friendly staff who were very prompt and professional to the amazing food and beautiful environment!! Their bison appetizer was to die for! Highly recommend! Although we didn’t order their special Valentine’s day dinner special, which did look to be amazing; the 3 appetizers and 5 main meals our party had ordered, everyone was thoroughly impressed. I would give this location a 10/10 on every aspect! can’t wait to go back!

We really enjoy this restaurant. Saturday night the staff was slammed - last night before the total lockdown so it was really busy. Service was quite slow, but understandably so. One thing that disappointed me - when I booked through Open Table I mentioned that the occasion was a birthday, and this was not acknowledged. We have gone to other restaurants before on my birthday, and always get a Happy Birthday comped cocktail or dessert. A tiny issue - in any case, we will return once life returns to normal.

Food was great but the service nor the restaurant style/atmosphere matched the prices. The room is cold and sort of feels like a pub trying to be a fancy restaurant. Bread was served in a cheap basket with olive oil spilled all on the bottom. Cutlery was rolled up in paper napkins. We had 6 servers throughout the evening, we still don’t know who our actual server was and the whole thing felt kinda thrown together. With all that said the food was very good but the rest needs work. This could all be Covid related but hopefully when they reopen they fix a few things as the location is great and the food is good.
We are always trying to be better. You are 100% correct, the issues you noted are basically Covid related. We have to use washable bread baskets, and rolled up cutlery to meet Covid requirements. We were extremely busy this last weekend before the lock down, and had issues getting extra staff to come in last minute, we had to work as a team with the staff we had on hand. Everyone has their personal preferences, but we hired local interior designer Paul Lavoie who is world renowned for his work.

The waiters were amazing. Very accommodating, made a delicious mocktail, birthday cake on the house and very friendly.
The food was good, pasta a little bland but overall had a great experience!
