Punch Bowl Social- Arlington
Great place for a party or casual hybrid bar food dinning.
Food took forever (over an hour) and arrived cold. Took another 20 minutes to get the check so we could leave. Won’t be back
Punchbowl Social in Balston Commons is a fun place to have some drinks and enjoy yourself. There are three floors to explore and experience different amusements such as bowling, darts, board games, and a video arcade. It was cold when we went but it has a couple outdoor patios on the upper floors where you can enjoy outside.
I got the shrimp burger and it was just ok. It was a lol salty and the old bay mayo made it worse. The shrimp burger needs a different sauce and maybe some cole slaw. Otherwise it’s a nice place to get with friends to eat and play games. Oh I also got an almond joy shake which was subpar. The consistency was that of melted ice cream 😔 the taste was soso.
It was a great date night place. I wish I would have known how the games worked beforehand - I didn't get a chance to bowl, and I really wanted to bowl. Nonetheless, the food was OUTSTANDING. I loved my specialty burger and drinks. Recommend their Moscow mule!
Food and drinks where terrible. Bad drink choice. Over priced. Was not told when reservation was made that we wouldn’t be able to bowl because of large parties. Wouldn’t have came just to eat.
The food was great as were the drinks. The level of service was disappointing as it took us a while to find the server and place an order. We also had a few issues with the bill at the end, so not sure if this experience is limited to the particular individual who was either new or overwhelmed, or if there is another factor at play...
So great! Had my seven year old there for lunch on a day off from school. We had a ton if fun and everyone was so nice
Overall the dining experience was great. The staff was very attentive and the food was good. After eating dinner in a quiet dining area we went to the area for games which was so much fun!
The only thing that I could of been different was the host experience. Upon arriving she didn’t make me feel as welcome when I told her my reservation time and name. After I told her that I was waiting for my date to arrive she just said I couldn’t stand in the reservation area which made things very uncomfortable. Also, she wasn’t smiling and didn’t look happy to be there.
The concept is great but the place is terribly understaffed. Our servers did a great job given the circumstances but there were only 3 people plus a bartender. The overall vibe was stressed out.
Service was abysmal. Waited at least 40 minutes for burgers. We actually watched the waitress walk by our food, waiting to be delivered, at least 3 times chatting with coworkers.
Impossible to bowl or reserve karaoke time if you have not reserved a private party. A bit Disappointing
Had the French Dip sandwich -- noted on the menu as a Punch Bowl favorite. It was average. The gravy dipping sauce was too salty, and the horseradish dip was so mild it could've passed as mayo. The sandwich came with potato chips that were a bit stale.
The dining area is spacious... but also means cold and noisy. Where we sat on the top level we were bathed in pink neon lighting which wasn't flattering.
The server was very friendly.
Overall the experience was a disappointment. Punch Bowl is more of a destination to go for drinking and games, but not really for a decent meal.
Great selection to choose, from starters to mains; great non-alcholic beverage selection as well.
So yummmmmy. We loved the biscuits with strawberry ginger jam. We had dined in the diner before, but had never had these. They’re delicious. Then we got the green chorizo fries for an appetizer. So yummy. For dinner I got the shrimp burger with the rosemary fries and a side of throwback sauce. Yummm. I love fries. So much. My bf got the French dip with the chips and a side salad. The French dip was wonderful as well and I dipped the chips in the au jus sauce. Mmm. For dessert we shared a slice of coconut cake and a cappuccino. The cake was so dense and so delicious. It was like a coconut cheese cake. Omg. Everything was awesome. We have leftovers for days, but it was so good. Next time I want the beef brisket chili. Mmmm.
I might go back on a different night. It is very loud and crowded and the staff are running around like chickens with there head cut off. Really unclear as to how to play the games. Is there a waiting list? Too much ice in all of my alcoholic drinks. Blah!
I give 2 stars because of the Hostess and managers . Let's start with the fact that they have open reservations on OT past 10 . Then I get 5 calls consecutively (like a psycho girlfriend) to let me know that restaurant will close before 10. 🤔 why even bother making OT offer later than 9:45 reservations, and why stalking me on the phone that much. We arrived 9:45pm and we asked what time does kitchen closes and they said midnight. Very cool concept having fun , great drinks our server was great up until we were playing bowling and he approached us to let us know they will close early today ,it was 11:20pm when server mentioned this. Way to start crashing down a business. If you dont follow up your hours of operations you'll lose guests. Not great decisions by management nor hostess. I almost didn't go.
Food took over an hour and the waiter kept saying it would be there soon. Finally after almost an hour and a half we left without eating.
Our waiter didn’t get our food to us for 40 mins and it was almost cold
Great food, great experience
Fun cocktail menu. Below average service. Average food that was slightly over-priced for what amounts to bar food. Despite the fact that they advertise 3 floors of fun, two were closed.
Decided to check this place out for birthday celebration. We had a lot of fun. The food was really good. The only thing they need to work on are the bar selections. They are missing alot of popular liquors and basic mixers such as curacao. We did karaoke. Absolutely love how private it is. We will definitely be back
This was out second time there. We ordered the same thi g; shrimp burger--came with fries. It was fantastic the first time, not good the second time. The food was way too salty. Service was slow and mediocre.
If i go there again, i would not eat just to have drinks and chill.
Table great and food choices were good for the happy hour choices! Played some games and had a nice time!
This place is stuck between trying to be a family friendly restaurant and a college hangout, and it doesn’t work well together. The music was deafening and we were seated right by a door with drunk young professionals and loud children constantly walking past. The food and service was only ok, and did not make up for the horrible ambiance. My fried chicken was breaded and fried with skin still on it, which resulted in some of the most rubbery pieces of chicken I’ve ever eaten. The quest was very good, though. I wish I had tried a milkshake because they all did sound great, too.
Received the incorrect order first try (2 of 3 of us received food) . On the second try, they go it right and he food was decent. Charged us full price after that experience and then took an excessive amount of time trying to split my charges across an AMEX gift card and Credit Card. Place has many managers bouncing around, but none of them really seemed to be in tune with the continued issues we had.
My meal came out wrong but they fixed it and gave us a free game of bowling. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was nice and calm.
Overall value was so-so. I got a chicken salad. I had to really search for chicken and when I found some, they were clearly the cheap remnants from the wings and drumsticks. It was disappointing. On the positive side, my husband liked his fried chicken and my kids liked their kids meals.
I really like eating here for brunch, the food is very good. They also have an amazing bloody mary bar!!
Everything was great except for our very unpleasant waiter.
Great good and atmosphere. The bass was a little high during the lunch hour and made it difficult to talk with people at the table.
We sat in the upstairs dining area. It was very noisy, and the place wasn't even full. Conversation was very difficult under those circumstances, which for me makes the place much less social than its name would have you believe. The food was good, though. The service felt overwhelming at times. I don't need six different waiters asking me if everything is OK. At least I never felt neglected.
The lower two levels might be quieter, but I think they don't serve food there.
The service was very poor. I never got my drink, our waters were never filled, my son’s burger had cheese on it which they did address but by the time they brought a replacement everyone else was nearly finished with their meal.
My friends and I decided to go out for dinner as part of our end of semester celebration and we liked the experience at Punch Bowl Social Arlington but we all said a couple of the same complaints about the chicken being mainly breading and the waffle was drenched in syrup
The bowling was a bit overpriced at $20 per person per hour. Our bowling lane didn't work a couple of times and ate up about 15 minutes of our time, but the staff thankfully added time for the time lost.
Ping-pong I believe was $12 per hour which I found overpriced as well. We only played for 30 minutes and they thankfully only charged us $6.
The board games were thankfully free and they had a pretty good selection of different games.
The service, however, was awful. We had brunch and sat at a table at the bar and both servers were pretty bad. The 1st server we had to flag down or try to get his attention multiple times because he either forgot to bring us something, wouldn't take our order, or didn't check in on us after getting our food. Our apps came only a few minutes before our entrees and our table was overcrowded with food.
The 2nd server at the bar kept saying he would check to see if they had certain things and never followed-up with us. When we would check back to see if he found the right answer he would just say "nope."
It was a great place to spend the day with two preteens. Service was great! Food was good and everyone that works there really seems to like their jobs.
Fun place for family and friends outings, menu is limited, and average.
This may be good spot for young people to pass time - definitely not a foodie place. The food was nothing to write home about and was somewhat pricy. We one for brunch on Saturday and there were very few people dining at that time; however, wait staff was not in a hurry to address customer needs. It took us 30 minutes to even be able to place our order and then took for ever to get a check.
Service was dicey. We were there during Happy Hour, but our server didn’t even give us a “last call” warning, which was odd. He also didn’t really have any recommendations on food or drink, and was just all around kind of awkward. The manager who was around was great, and the woman who was helping us toward the end was great!
