This is a hidden treasure, One of the biggest surprises in a Vietnamese restaurant Ive seen in some time. It was so good the first time I went, I thought I would try it again thinking it was too good to be true. On the second visit it did not disappoint, it was fantastic again!! My only fear is it going to get so popular Ill have problems getting a reservation. Go in the evening its not as busy.

Good value for group on coupon. Still new but have potential to grow further. More training would benefit on servers' knowledge about specific recipe and ingredients in the item that is delivered or served.

We were there on a Sunday evening 6:45pm and the only guests till a few more wandered in later. Music was loud! Asked server to turn down the noise as we couldn't talk to each other at the table. Server didn't introduce herself so I don't know her name. She did her best going over the menu. We found some of the drinks, wine a bit expensive and asked for pots of tea. That was not available, odd for most restaurants let alone an Asian one. Mango papaya salad was good, char Sui donuts was tasty but the pork belly rolls were really bland! Ordered the lobster fried rice and was told it's now substituted with crab which would have been fine but it was bits of the fake crab legs. Glazed cod was very expensive for a piece no bigger than 3"x4". A tad over cooked but tasty. Fried beef was different but good. Soup of the day was Napa cabbage, very plain and boring. Coconut rice was delicious as was the Kim Chi. No desserts were offered so we indulged at Village Ice Cream. Decor seriously needs help to give the place some ambiance. The bare black walls need a boost of colour from some art work. Portion sizes are not generous so be prepared to order extra.

The food is delicious. My picks include: pho, chicken wings, chai su bao, crab and shrimp fried rice, and kimchi fried rice. If you're a vegetarian, there is enough here for you. Great for groups, as there is lots of room for big parties and the servers are really good about annoying things we do - like splitting bills and taking forever to figure out what to order. I really want this place to survive - prices are great and the take on Vietnamese food is elevated. Oh - happy hour is weekdays from 3-5pm, with an order of an alcoholic drink.

This is the very best Vietnamese food - so flavourful & absolutely delicious. Presentation is gorgeous - exactly what one would expect from this very talented & creative chef! Short, but more than adequate wine list & beer on tap. Eat here - you will not be disappointed

Food was good but service was slow. I think our server was the only one working so understandable. Perhaps management needs better staffing levels at lunch time. It's a good spot to go so you can chat over lunch - not loud like a pub.

We had a date night prior to the theatre, and Pure came up as a restaurant that we should try. We have seen so many Vietnamese restaurants, and my thought was that this one would add nothing to the already well worn run of dishes. Pho, Ban Camh, Goi Cuan, that sort of thing. I could not have been more wrong! The location is um, unfortunate, being in the west end of downtown south of the Nexen building. A location that after six pm does not invite lingering over romantic dinners or strolling hand in hand. The interior decoration is very plain, and I can imagine that in a busier time, the restaurant could be really noisy. We started with appetizers - the Papaya and Mango salad with chili/lime was excellent, in both presentation and flavours. I think possibly my favourite dish anywhere. Then on to the Sate Surf and Turf which was shrimp butterflied and beef with a great sauce. My wife had the Chicken Claypot, and this was chunks of dark chicken meat, cooked in a clay pot (I would guess that this is where the name came from - hey, I'm nothing if not astute...) in a sauce that was modestly sweet (a house sauce reduction). I found I quite liked it, even though I am not normally a dark meat, chicken kind of guy. My choice of entree was the Tamarind Glazed Cod, which was again very nicely presented (all dishes presentation were more worthy of a five star restaurant - not your typical Asian restaurant at all!) and the outside was modestly crunchy with a very tender cod meat inside. All in all, the one question that always summarizes an experience is "knowing what you know now, would you do it again?". In my experience, Pure Contemporary is a great place to eat lunch or an early dinner. I would consider very carefully if I wanted to go there after say, 8 pm, as again, this end of the city does not invite lingering for couples. Having said that, insofar as a restaurant is concerned, I am pleased that I have found this one. I will definitely be back!

Creative cocktails, varied menu with lots of options, maybe a little more expensive than traditional Vietnamese but completely worth it for the variety and presentation. Presentation of a five star restaurant. I think the overall value was good for the quality of the food.

My friend and I tried the restaurant last Thursday for dinner and ordered 5 items and a bottle of wine. The food was fresh and nicely presented. The waitress was friendly and attentive. However, we have only one disappointment and that was the dish of the pork belly roll. We expected the pork belly to be full of flavour as the rice paper roll basically has no flavour of its own; however, the meat was tasteless and the whole roll was quite blend; we ended up requesting for some sauce to dip the roll in for a bit of taste. Was the pork belly not marinated like all other meat? Hopefully, this was only a one time misstep. We look forward to trying other items another time. Thank you so much for the experience!
