I always love going to Purlieu. It's walking distance from our house and the food and service are always excellent. My only negative is that I wish there were more vegetables in the dishes, or the option to order a side of vegetables.
The food was very good and the service friendly and personable.
We felt very comfortable.
We would highly recommend Purlieu as an excellent place to go to for a lovely meal in a friendly comfortable environment.
Place is adorable, small and intimate. Food was good but not spectacular. Scallops were good but all 4 were over really over cooked. Duck was a lovely dish as well as the mussels! My husband had the cod and although it was cooked perfectly, the broth was extremely salty (soya sauce). Overall the experience was nice, servers friendly. Might try their other new restaurant to compare. 8/10 experience. Recommend to check it out and hopefully the little issues are resolved with the cooking on the plates mentioned
Great little spot tucked away in a random suburb. Community crowd.
Food: Excellent value. We had lamb, shrimp, tuna, duck -- all very well cooked, nothing overdone. Balanced proportions. "Modern" might be a stretch, unless what they meant was an Asian flare -- nothing we haven't seen before, but again, everything was well done.
Service: Also excellent. For a small spot - maybe 30-40max - 2 servers were barely adequate during the busier parts of the evening, especially considering one of them was mixing cocktails (well done by the way!).
Drinks: Cute selection of cocktails that we're thoughtfully made by our server. Affordable bottles of wine including half bottles/caraffes. I'd say the range was a little narrow (in terms of price - basically every bottle between 40-80 from what I recall). Perhaps that's what a community french bistro calls for, but some bigger bottles might serve the odd occasion.
Delicious! Will be back. Can’t wait to try Trullo
Our fourth time dining in and loved the experience. Music and drinks were great and food was amazing. When we talked about a certain drink they used to make, they went and checked on the ingredients to make it for us even though it wasn’t on the menu.
Wonderful genuine French food in a setting that doesn’t feel at all pretentious. Altogether a lovely evening, and the moules frites are incredible!
We had a wonderful time as usual! We live across the street and love this place!
Food is very good, staff is efficient and friendly without being intrusive. Relaxed, bistro type vibe. A great little restaurant.
Great neighbourhood gem! Classic French food - duck confit & steak frites! We will be back again soon.
It was excellent. So happy to have discovered this new gem.
Excellent food at reasonable prices for high end dinning. Our waiter Claude was friendly, efficient and very entertaining. I would highly recommend for an quiet dinner with friends or even going solo.
We had the cod..... very good. Service is great and the staff are friendly. We really like having a quality restaurant in the neighborhood.
What a great little hidden gem!! Definitely would recommend, great food great food & service.
I’ll definitely be going back.
We went early so we were the only ones there for at least an hour. Even once it started getting busy we still had excellent service. Amazing food!
Everything was excellent, service was perfectly pleasant and not intrusive. Food was excellent and beautifully presented.
Food was delicious. The server very good.
When we arrived it was full and a tad noisy. After a few tables left, it was fine.
We had a great time here. Intimate place with attentive and knowledgable service staff. Nice portion sizes and great quality food, with some inventive items - could have eaten the lobster spring rolls all night!
Classy, intimate and an amazing meal. Claude was our waiter and had some great recommendations of food to try. Lobster rolls were very good!
Lovely ambiance and delicious food! Highly recommend this community gem.
Good food that you would expect at a downtown restaurant at twice the cost
Our dining experience at Purlieu was wonderful. Our meal was exceptional and the service was very good as well. It’s great to see a high-quality restaurant open up in the south.
Very good service. I had the pork dinner, which was very good. It was my first time at this restaurant and I plan to go again! A very delicious meal.
I am so glad we finally tried Purlieu. Such a sweet little restaurant tucked in an Oakridge strip mall. Everything on the menu looked appetizing (and I never think that). Calamari, lobster spring rolls, steak frites, lamb and burgers were all delicious and made my family full and happy.
Introduced another couple to this restaurant last night. Very impressed. Service was great as usual. Our appetizers were the beet and arugula salad and the calamari. Both were delightful. I had the special which was duck breast. Cooked perfectly and accompanied with nice vegetables. My husband enjoyed the Cornish hen. I will comment on the pasta dish as it was a little dry and the lamb came with a sauce which was a little overpowering. We all had a little of the chocolate pate for desert. Nice evening. Thankyou.
Second time back this month and just as good as the first - Great service, food and ambience - A hidden gem in Oakridge
Resturant in the neighborhood is a real addition to the area. Staff are great food is great a great way to spend a evening.
Wonderful experience as always. I am a regular customer and love the people and food in this restaurant.
Since Covid it, we'd only been ordering take out but we finally ate in the restaurant and it was nothing short of incredible. We are so fortunate to have the amazing Purlieu in our neighbourhood!
Feels like eating in my own home with a clean and beautiful room where friends can gather. Thank you for a wonderful first dining experience. I will be back.
very helpful and welcoming wait staff; excellent food and real neighbourhood feel
Absolutely stunning little place, with the yummiest bistro food. Unpretentious but special. Highly recommend!
Great food and the service by Claude was exceptional
Ou first time at Purlieu and it won’t be out last. What a wonderful little neighbourhood gem! Great food! Great service! Great atmosphere!
I am almost reluctant to submit a review for this gem of a restaurant, in fear we can never again get a reservation there. However, it would be greedy of me not to spread the word.
Delicious, we’ll presented food with great service.
All 3 of us really enjoyed our meals...the flavours and presentation were amazing. Service was outstanding. Have already reserved another dinner in a few days!
I came to this place to try their mussels and didn’t regret my choice. Absolutely delicious!
From entry to exit was outstanding - service was terrific and food was to die for. Can’t be beat for value for money
My husband and I have loved Purlieu since it opened but haven’t been able to dine there during Pandemic closures since March 15, 2019. Our dinner there on Saturday, September 27, 2021 marked a return to one of our all-time favourite restaurants. Chef Eric Mah did not disappoint nor did his wonderful serving staff. The meal (Cornish game hen for me and loin of pork for my husband) was fabulous and our appetizer, dessert and wine choices made our first post Pandemic closure meal outstanding. I look forward to regular nights out at Purlieu in the future.
