Authentic Japanese ramen comes to Winnipeg!

Ramen Takeuma is owned and operated by Atsushi Kawazu, a Japanese native from Kyoto, who was trained in Japan to make Ramen and will be opening a permanent ramen shop in the near future. Until then, a temporary pop-up event has been started to see how Winnipegers respond to authentic ramen and we conduct market research.

This 2023 Fall dinner pop-up event is currently happening at Honupoke restaurant downtown.
The address is 190 Smith Street, Winnipeg, MB.

Check Sushi is awesome. Really cares about his food. Definitely hitting up this joint once they open up. Permanent location. If you love ramen, you gotta try this place.

Wow, I can barely put into words how much I enjoyed my dinner and overall experience. We had fantastic, personal and humble service. The value of the meal was outstanding; and the food itself was one of my highlights of the year. I really hope Atshushi manages to open his own space in the city because I could eat this on the regular. Highly recommended.

I can see this concept thriving as a permanent establishment. The food was phenomenal. My greatest takeaway was the quality of service. Each course was brought out by a different person (including the head chef himself!) who explained what we were eating, and they checked in on us throughout the experience without being intrusive. Can't wait for a permanent place to open up.

The people at Ramen Takeuma are plesant, easy to talk to, and go out of their way to make sure your personal service of of the highest quality. They listen when I had mentioned that there was not enough salt for the deep fired chicken on my platter, or when my bowl of ramen was not not salty enough for my liking. If you enjoy Ramen like I do, I highly recommend it. In my opinion, thee best ramen in Canada.

Exceptional second course. Main course of ramen is above average, and with some tweaking could be exceptional. Chef open to feedback, which is critical given the nature of the operation. Extra credit given for the Char-Shu being a good mix of lean and fatty, and offering both hard and soft versions of the Ramen egg.

Everything was perfect and absolutely delicious. I took a star off for ambiance due to it being super hot with fans and a portable ac running. I was sweating as I was eating so that was the only complaint. Everything else, you all have to try!!

Best ramen I've ever had. Asushi (the chef - I'm not sure how to spell his name) very clearly cared deeply about his food and the customers experience. He wanted to hear every compliment and criticism from every table trying to improve or change what he could, and it really showed. I will definitely be back when he opens his full time restaurant.

Best Ramen Ive had. Im more of a Pho guy and wife lives Ramen....Chef makes amazing Ramen. That said, best dishes are the appetizer. Spinach salad is unique and top notch. The chicken. Well, just try it. Wow.

We were looking for authentic Japanese ramen, and Ramen Takeuma was the perfect restaurant for that experience. All four courses were a multi-sensory delight. The flavours of each course, as well as the presentation of the food, took us back to our time in Japan. Wonderful, as was the service! We hope that Chef Kawazu will open a permanent restaurant in Winnipeg.

I would recommend Ramen Takeuma to friend. Overall, the food is great but I think the spinach and fried chicken over-powered the main course (Ramen). I find it too much food being offered in the event, and we ended up did not enjoy the bowl of ramen, which is the main hero of the entire event as much as we anticipate because we were almost full when it is served. To me, I would appreciate with just a bowl of ramen with good broth (doesn't have to be fancy or presentable but rather let the food speaks for itself).
