of Hamilton’s restaurant scene, dedicated to offering the city’s culinary
connoisseurs a full nose-to-tail experience. We offer a regularly changing,
meaty and creative menu in a laid-back setting. Our skilled and
passionate chefs do it all, whether it’s curing, salting, boning, stuffing,
wrapping, charring, braising, or just leaving the meat raw.
Above all, we love to prepare food that pushes boundaries and pulls you outside of your comfort zone — just a little bit. We get tremendous joy out of food and offer items that you are unlikely to find another local restaurants.     Rapscallion isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience. Every time I come here it’s like I’m experiencing it for the first time again. I have never ever been let down by their food, it’s my favourite restaurant by far. The menu changes with the seasons which constantly gives new vibes for you to enjoy. I recommend rapscallion to everyone and anyone who lives in Hamilton needs to come here at least once.

    Food was prompt, the gentleman that brought us to our table was kind and attentive and Jay our server continuously checked in on us and made sure we were having a good dining experience. Overall was great, and look forward to my next visit.

    The food and service was great. Our table was in a dark area which could use a hanging lamp. Our waitress added a small lamp to help. Otherwise, clean, relaxed and good brunch

    Excellent and interesting food. More vegetarian options would be welcome. Service was friendly although somewhat slow which is not the norm for Rapscallion. Only criticism is that the music was far too loud and prevented easy conversation at the table.

    I'll preface this review with saying it was super crawl night so a busier night of the year. They were serving individual oysters out of the front garage which prob thinned out the staff a little bit. I'll also say I ate some gummies before dinner so perhaps my view of time was distorted but if anything this should have helped this review. On to the review already! From the time we sat down to getting water took about 20 minutes and that was because I got up and asked a random waitress about our table. She seemed confused and took our table. Just felt really chaotic. They sat us by the front door which is not a great seat bec so many people would come in and stand over your table. If they put a noticeable "Reservations Only" sign out front it would have eliminated 90% of these people and freed up the hosting staff quite a bit. I picked the restaurant based on the menu I saw online but they limited it due to the super crawl and removed items off the menu we would like. So kind of pigeon holed into getting the bigger meat board because some of the standard things like filet weren't on the regular menu. Got two drinks. The service was so slow I ordered the second one when I had a half drink left because it took 15+ mins to get a second. The waitress did apologize for how slow it was so they brought us a free appetizer which was chicken liver brule. It lived up to the name (harhar). The food was okay. The steak lacked seasoning, the stuffed chicken wings were really interesting. $160 bill for 3 drinks and a shared dinner. First review I've left on here but was just so annoyed during the dinner between it taking almost 2 hours, staff completely losing our table, people without reservations piling up at the front door hovering over our table (which again, just put a tasteful sign up and it fixes that issue), food was just okay. The ambiance is really great, especially if you're not at the front door.

    Fantastic as always- never disappointed. All of the staff were wonderful and the dishes and cocktails were great. A vomplimentary cocktail was provided for my wife's Birthday.

    The food was incredible, get the feta dip if you go! Every single thing we ate was amazing. The Kobe beef dumplings are literally one of the best things I’ve ever eaten and the cheesecake was so light and had so much flavour. The lighting and music were both at perfect levels to make it relaxed and quiet without being stuffy at all. Highly recommend Rapscallion for some really good food and drinks!

    I was quite disappointed on my past visit. The portion size of their whipped feta dip got smaller. When they first opened it was much better with more feta on the plate, however this time, they barley gave us anything. A friend of ours also visited and said the dip was small and they were disappointed because it was good but there just isn’t enough of it. Secondly, it was one of the hottest weekends of the year and the AC was not running. My fiancé and I came to celebrate our engagement and not one staff member acknowledged it or congratulated us. I even wrote that it was a special date on our reservation request. We went for dinner service but we had to leave after the apps and drinks because we were sliding off our leather seats from our own sweat. It was very uncomfortable and disappointing.

    We had a lovely quiet dinner in the back cozy part of the restaurant. The food was excellent especially the lasagna and whipped feta. We couldn't have had any better service. Our every need was taken care of by a very kind staff. We will be back !

    The menu is wonderful, with something for everyone. We were sat at a booth that was unfortunately not very comfortable. It was like sitting directly on plywood, and the seat was too tall to rest your feet comfortably on the floor. We were in good company with good food, so we could temporarily overlook the seating, but at the end of 2 hours, our backs and bottoms were not happy.

    The service was excellent. The food…impeccable!! 1st time at this restaurant. It is on par, if not beyond, many of the 4 Diamond rated restaurants. One of the best restaurants experiences I have had period. Hope to visit again!!

    Really a tapas style restaurant with shareable portions of a variety of offerings. We shared some excellent oysters, sea bass crudo and miso butterfish. We don’t eat meat so didn’t try any of those options. Nice wine list and assorted cocktails. Pleasantly surprised by the high quality of food and the reasonable value. Definitely worth a visit!

    We both enjoyed our lunch very much. The appetizer of whipped feta looked like a painting and was delicious. Chicken sandwich and grilled cheese sandwiches were tasty. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. A return visit is definite in order.

    Great evening for a last minute date night with my beautiful wife. We both work crazy hours and needed a quiet romantic high quality evening meal together. Rapscallion delivered beyond our expectations. We will go back again soon.

    It is pretty pricey but extremely worth it due to the freshness of ingredients, flavours and attention to detail. From the decor to the vibes to the sensational food it was a fantastic experience! Staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and I will definitely be coming back! HIGHLY recommend the whipped feta, would’ve licked the plate clean if the place wasn’t so classy!

    First off, the ambience is beautiful. Every detail is planned and perfect, down to the tongue in cheek bathrooms! Jason, our server, helped us through the entire experience with his knowledge. Every staff that ran food gave us the run down on every plate that hit the table. Drinks were impeccable and super creative. Food was divine. 10/10. Will dream of the dumplings.

    Incredible dinner! Courtesy of the McCarter family, we stopped in for an anniversary dinner, and the ambiance, vibe, service and food didn't disappoint! The whipped feta is a must have! Kudos to Chef Matt and his team, and everyone in FOH!
