Great bar-restaurant in West Bank area of U of Minnesota campus. Outdoor dining in good weather very nice; trees provide nice shade in the outdoor dining area for summer dining.

Food is always ok. Considering we had a large group, the food came out very quickly. Our server was the best we ever had anywhere; very attentive, yet not pushy; he earned a large tip!

A friend from out of state met me here near her hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed the several hours we spent dining, drinking and catching up. Our waiter instinctively knew when we were ready for another drink or another food order. Weather was gorgeous so sitting outside was ideal.

The spacious patio at Republic is perfect (minus the occasional thunderous rumbling of passing Harleys) for catching up with friends on a summer evening. I wish the service had matched the weather. While the servers were friendly, we had to find someone to take our order, initiate getting refills, etc. Additionally, two items didn't come out correctly--a burger that had been requested minus the bacon had bacon, and one of the desserts that was described as topped with strawberries had none (with the person bringing it out telling us their strawberries weren't fresh/good enough and he wished staff would quit telling people it comes with strawberries). Mostly the consistently slow service is what has me on the fence about returning, even though the food was mostly tasty.

We left without getting any dinner... We arrived at 5:45, ordered, and by 7:15, our food hadn't arrived. Apparently it got delivered to the wrong table... Twice. I've never left a restaurant without getting food. They comped our drinks, even though we didn't even get all of them. Go somewhere else!

My wife and I dined here before a concert at the Cedar Cultural Center. The food (we both had the veggie burger) was outstanding and the atmosphere was great. This is a high energy place that would be great for a date or a large group. We will be back!

Hostess seemed overwhelmed, and we waited about 15 minutes past our reservation time to be sat. We were a table of two but were sat on a stage in a loud area clearly intended for large groups + overflow dining. Our server was trying, but was busy serving the several large groups. Both our meals were disappointing: An overcooked burger and a very small portion on the chicken sandwich. The beer selection was the only redeeming element of this dinner.

A very disappointing evening at The Republic! The restaurant need some updating ~ the chairs are wobbly and the tables feel like they need a good scrubbing down too. The wait staff is very slow and our party of 8 had dinners come out several minutes apart. Some people were almost done with their entire meal before others were served. In addition, the quality of the food was what I would refer to as 'bad bar food ' that is over priced! So disappointing ~ we would say save your money and find somewhere else to eat!

We didn't have much time before our show at Theater in the Round, but we got a reservation on Open Table easily and our food arrived quickly. The food was all great and our server super friendly and attentive. Perfect.

great beer selection and i love that they allow you to choose ANY 4 beers for a flight. So many places have a "hoppy flight," "local flight," "dark flight" . the Republic let's you build your own... and they have a great selection to choose from. Great tacos (good for vegetarians too) and an excellent BLT(with egg).

Beer selection was fantastic. My chicken sandwich was great. However, the burgers the ladies ordered were all mixed up based on medium / medium-well. The server had to be asked twice for water, never refilled them once, and then I asked for a half-glass of water at the time of the check that was never filled. My wife over-tipped and we still got ignored by the server as we left. I've been a server / bartender and so I'm pretty laid back about it, but this was poor. Still a great place, but poor service doesn't exactly cause a person to rush back.

Being a vege/pescatarian, it was a welcome surprise to have a few food options at a beer place. The seating was cramped (the person sitting behind me and I were fighting for space), but the service was friendly and fast. Its close to the Southern Theater, so its a good option pre-show. The seats fill fast; good thing reservations are easy.

Restaurant was ready for us, but we were placed in a giant room alone which had no ambiance or vibe. Not sure why when there were many other tables available. We contemplated sitting at the bar, and should have. The bar is really the focus of this place. Food is just OK.

Not impressed. Good location for Theatre in the Round. Good beer selections. No other reason to go. We ordered appetizer, never came. No real apology for it. Waiter never checked with us. Won't be back and don't recommend.
