Sadly, the hostess and several other employees seemed a bit rude when we arrived. The outside patio was closed when we arrived so we had to get take out. The food was pretty good but $30 for a chicken salad seems a bit silly. The waterfall/mountains were beautiful and the grounds people and shuttle workers were helpful and nice.

We enjoyed the restaurant immensely. Two of us had the Trout/Cast Iron Classic. We felt that the flavor was perfect. The bacon enhanced the trout and did not overpower it. A third person had the 1858 Barbecue trout. Three of us tasted it and thought the sauce was uniquely flavorful. A fourth person enjoyed the Red Bird chicken. There were several other appealing entrees on the menu that we would like to try next time. The service was great and the staff friendly. Two in our part were having a birthday so we were treated to desert. The deserts we chose were the peach Cream Puff and chocolate Bomb. A pleasant evening and we would return.

We loved Restaurant 1858! It was a great addition to our Seven Falls trip. We ate lunch before we climbed the steps of the falls and hiked to inspiration point. We were shocked by the menu and ambiance. The menu was upscale and the ambiance was so nice, it was decorated so well. I had the trout and it was delicious. We wished we also had time to stay for dinner as the dinner menu looked even better. We would absolutely recommended eating here on your trip to Seven Falls!!

Very beautiful location, delicious food. For the price, the service was average. I also did not appreciate an un advertised 20% service charge on top of an already expensive bill. Happy to have checked it out, but not worth returning in the future.

Great experience to done outside by the falls. Trout was perfect and Jessica our server was excellent. It’s cool in between rock formations so be sure to have a jacket! A really nice meal in a unique location. I’d do it again!

Love this place. It is so beautiful. Food is good but a bit over priced. They used to have wonderful mashed potatoes and need to bring those back. House wine is $25.00 a glass. So it is a great place but our dinner and drinks for 3 was $400.00 and then you also have to pay to get into the park as well. So almost $500.00.

Great place to people watch and decent views outside depending on your seating. Waitress was nice. Appetizer (fish dip) was surprisingly good but the Mixed Grill (Lamb Chop, Sausage, and Ribs) were terrible. Never had ribs with a bone like crust on the top. Sausage texture was similar to a vegan type meat with a hint of cherry; gross. Lamb chop was cooked well but taste was off. Best part was the bed of green beans the meat sat on. Grits were meh. Salad was good but hard to mess up.

We visited 1858 as a couple and were NOT staying at the Broadmore Hotel. I will say that the food is excellent at the restaraunt and I think the falls and surrounding areas are likely very nice to see but we did not have time to do so. They really treat non-Broadmore guests as second class citizens, especially with regards to the transportation necessary to get to the site. We had to wait for over an hour for a shuttle and a similar time (in the dark) after dinner to get a shuttle back. As a result we were not able to really enjoy (or even see) the falls and surrounding areas. However, guests at the Broadmore got much more direct access with shuttles picking them up directly at the restuarant after dinner with almost no wait. So, while I would like to recommend the restaurant, I would have to suggest you pass on it unless you are staying at the hotel. There are other very good restaurants in the area.
