Despite being short-staffed (which seems to be the norm these days post-Covid at any restaurant) we were amazed and blown away by the service provided to us by William on the evening of Saturday 14th. He took exceptional care of us and our two guests who were at the Imperial for the first time. It was a memorable dining experience which would not have been the case if we were not attended to by William, who was friendly, attentive, and made every effort to assure that our experience at the Imperial was as good as it could be considering the challenges that are the result of being short-staffed.

There was a party that evening that took up a huge part of the place and it was beyond noisy with very loud singing and bass and loud loud music. We could no talk to one another and it was a terrible experience. The restaurant should’ve either shut down, given a big discount or shut off that area atleast. They did not care and our evening out was ruined. Will not return and will spread the word .

We booked using open table and arrived 5 minutes early to our reservation. I went to the bar to ask about my table one a waiter yelled at me to wait at the door. Went to the door where the host (and I use that term lightly) said that even though i had a reservation we had to wait at minimum 30 minutes to be seated stating he has zero control over online reservations… On top of it he was severely rude. Needless to say we left…Stay far far away from this place! We shouldnt be spending out hard earned money on places that don’t appreciate our business and treat patrons horribly

There was a wedding reception on Saturday night. Hence it was very noisy and the service staff was overworked. But the food was excellent and a lot for the price.

They don’t consider your reservation time (i reserved for 7:15 for 11 people and got a place around 8. They prioritize event over others customers (on that day, a section was closed for a party), i chose that specific place to celebrate my grandma birthday of 84 years old! Some dishes have been served cold and a plate at a time (small portions compared to others tables around us). We asked for water at the beginning and got it at the end and the tea pot never been filled during the dinner (you have time to choke). When it comes to pay, everyone rushed to clean the table like they wanted us to leave as fast as possible. If the capacity of the restaurant doesn’t allow much customers because of an event, they should have coordinated the reservation differently. I don’t have money to waste on a place where they treated us like second class citizens. It’s really disappointing because i liked the food (for dimsum), but because of that experience, i will never go there anymore. I drove for about 30 minutes to be served like crappy (i live completely in the east of Montreal). Guess what… i still gave 10% of tips with that poor service on a bill of 185$! That’s mean i do consider the manpower and the excuse of because it’s busy, it’s not even thinkable to mention…

We have been waiting for a good quality Chinese restaurant to come to the west island. We have been going to Montreal and laval. I would recommend this restaurant for the quality and service. Good size portions for your value.

Worst service ever. A very arrogant and rude woman at the reception who doesn’t know how to talk to customers with proper manners. 0 problem solving skills, when I needed her help she walked away.

Great service! Amazing food! Keep going back and never disappointed. Friendly reminder Dim Sum is from 11:30-3:30, I always forget! They still have some great options to get some Dim Sum for dinner if your feeling it.

Traditional Chinese restaurant with Western and Eastern options on the menu. It was like walking into a restaurant in China. The place exceeded my expectations. Food was excellent, tasty and fresh. Portions were right on for sharing for 4 people. Though very busy, the noise level was exceptionally low. They did a good job with acoustics when designing the inners of the restaurant. Service is comparable again to what you see in mainland China. Don't be shy to flag your waiter or waitress down.

The food was excellent. We tried the har how, sui mai, won ton soup as appetizers. Our main dishes were very tasty…Cantonese chow mein, chinese brocolli with oyster sauce, shrimp with oyster sauce, general tao chicken, roast duck. We used to go to Chinatown regularly. We will now stay here in the West Island. The prices were reasonable.

Don’t go. The restaurant runs in the concept of mainland Chinese management in the 1970s. They are lack of basic understanding of what is service. Instead, the customers have to be patient and keep silent and can’t ask question when the waiters are busy, or you’ll be yelled at. They are rude from the front desk to waiters. They made me feel I was there bothering them. Completely incompetent leadership and management. Such a regret it is supposed to be the best Chinese restaurant in West Island. The owner should take professional training to adapt to the western service standard. Remember it is not China in 1970.

A little too expensive for what it is. You can go to any other Chinese restaurant and pay at least 50% less than at Imperial.

We (6 people) had to find someone when we arrived as no staff approached us to take us to our seats. (No one waiting) Pretty decorated restaurant. Service not good, spring rolls. dumplings brought 1st, then after asking & waiting our soup came, water but no glasses! 1 main served & after awhile brought 2nd main. No manager to speak to, an english server not available, after quite some time our 3 more main dishes arrived. Food hot, but lacked taste. We would not go back based on our experience.

Canard est tendre et superbe. L'agneau est bien apprété. Les légumes sont excellents. Le prix des vins est raisonnable. Je calmar sel & poivre n'est peut-etre pas a la hauteur des autres plats.

The food was delicious and the plates were full. You will definitely get your money's worth here. Ambiance is really nice, not too noisy and very clean. The staff is super friendly. We highly recommend this place.

Our table was not ready when we arrived for our reservation at 8 pm. Once seated, we were told that their kitchen closes in 3 minutes and so it was last call to order food. On their website it says they are open until 9 pm on Saturdays, however, we were advised on site that their kitchen closes just after 8 pm, so be warned! To be fair, they never should have taken a reservation at 8 pm if their kitchen closes right after 8 pm. We were given one menu for a table of 4 people as there is only one provided per table. Adding to all this, the room temperature in the restaurant was exceedingly hot on a very muggy day, as the air conditioning didn't seem to be working. Given all this, we unfortunately had to leave and go to another restaurant for dinner. Extremely disappointing and we won't be back.

Restaurant Imperial is a big place, beautifully decorated for casual dine-in, parties or corporate events. In fact while we were there one such corporate event took place and the back dining room was separated by room dividers, the announcements could still be heard in the rest of the place. This business may have been the reason why our first waiter (also the manager?) was quite short and impatient with us. Not answering any of the questions we had, with it being our first time there. Later on, towards the end of the meal a young man served us orange slices and fortune cookies and he was a delight in and of himself, but especially in contrast to the earlier interactions with our not so welcoming welcome committee. It was honestly so dismissive that a couple of our party of six suggested to leave. We were hungry enough to stay. And a good thing, because the food is delicious and plentiful. Crispy orange beef, tender and juicy General Tao chicken, flavourful fried rice and crunchy vegetable Chow Mein delivered! The fried Tofu was a little dry being served without a dipping sauce, but upon request a spicy sauce and soya sauce helped with that issue. Some of us will not go back due to the poor service at the beginning (but maybe the friendly young man at the end left a lasting impression to change their minds). I will give it another shot, because the food is worth it.

What saves this place is the food , the rest needs some work - having events on a Saturday is a bit silly , without a private room it completely impedes on everyone else’s dining experience . Service is slow , order of plate arrivals is haphazard , bathrooms are not clean and the walk to them is bizarre ( piles of dishes on the floor ) , but the food makes all this chaos somewhat worth it … just know what you are walking into …

This is a good quality Chinese restaurant. It was our first time and the decor and restaurant was very pleasing. The food took a little time to arrive but it was served hot. This place is not a BYOB.

We chose 9 dishes from the a la carte. A variety of meat, veggie, seafood, hotpot, noodle and rice were nicely prepared, flavorful, bountiful and fresh. Great chinese resto in the West island. Ambiance was good. Plenty of free parking available.

Peking duck and other dishes were really delicious. I liked the dinner dishes better than the dim sum. Service was good, though not many waiters for the number of tables so there was a bit of a wait to order but the staff did their best and the food came very quickly.

Delicious food, great service, We were there very early so it was very quiet. Portions are enormous. Reasonable prices. We will be celebrating our son’s birthday next month and this will be the place. 👍👍

We waited for 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we’d were there. Then when we tried to speak to someone they just said “sit down”. When we finally got our table, again waited for over 20 minutes and no waiter ever came to the table. I understand people are understaffed, but this was not the case and tables were empty. This was very disappointing. We ended up getting up and left and again no one even noticed.
