   I have eaten at many Michelin star restaurants through out the world, and Toque holds up very well in terms of the quality and taste of the food. I recommend it without reservation.

   Absolutely amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed the Chef’s Tasting Menu with wine pairing, and it exceeded all our expectations! The entire staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Couldn’t have asked for a better evening! Thank you Toque!

   A Michelin star worthy restaurant! I have been to many 1 and 2 Michelin star as well as some 3 star restaurants and I can tell you that Toque deserves at least 1 star if not 2. The food was by far the best I’ve had in Montreal. The service was impeccable as was the music and general ambiance.

   The food was flavorful but uninspired. I have tasted these flavor profiles many times for a lot less. For the prices they charge, I expected food that was a bit more interesting or innovative. The service was good, but overall I felt this restaurant overcharged and underdelivered.

   The service was as good as we have ever had, infallibly courteous, shifting between English and French at our pace, explaining each dish (we had the tasting menu, menu degustation), and each wine, the portions are small to minuscule, but this is not a criticism, as each was a defined taste experience, and there were 7 courses to be experienced (8 in our case because of the birthday girl), with 5 wines. All in all it was a very positive evening, made better by the wait staff from the lead waiter to the bread girl, always with a smile, always attentive, always there when needed. The price of the evening puts it our of reach of a weekly affair, but we will certainly be going back again.

    Very friendly and accommodating. Food tasted great. Cod could have been seasoned different for personal preferences, but it was cooked perfectly to where it flaked apart nicely onto the utensils. The butternut squash bavarois wonderfully paired with the accompanying caramel crémeux.

    The service is excellent but the food was underwhelming. We did the seven course tasting menu. Two out of seven were delicious. The rest were mediocre at best (the beef dish was so bland I didn’t even eat it). Also, two of the seven courses were dessert …. and not good. We ordered oysters as an entree and they were very good. The wine was fantastic. The food and presentation felt dated. I’ve had much better meals. I don’t mind spending money on good food , but spending $650 plus tip on this meal was not worth it. We have gone to several very good restaurants (and spent $600+) in Montreal and done tasting menus, this was the first to disappoint.

    The service was painfully slow. The food was nothing special, lacked flavor and came to the table luke warm. Presentation was excellent, but the pacing made this dinner unbearable. Took forever to get a drink that wasn’t even that good and with all the courses, it was a nearly 4 hour long dinner when other tables who arrived after us finished light years before us. With all of the world class dining restaurants I have dined at globally, this did not live up to the hype and I was not impressed and I cannot recommend unfortunately.

    Very good food, service but I didn’t like the ambiance of this restaurant. The high ceiling, curtains, lightning etc. Maybe better to eat at the bar.

    I spent an evening at Toqué! to celebrate an anniversary. Everything was perfect from the beginning to the end. The food, the wines, the service, the atmosphere were truly confirming the reputation of the restaurant as being the best in Canada. The personnel was knowledgeable and very kind. Even the Chef Mr. Laprise paid us a visit and we took this opportunity to take a photo souvenir! Beautiful evening and delicious dinner. Highly recommended!

    It had been a while since I heard about this restaurant and had always heard generally positive reviews. Finally had a chance to try this weekend with a friend who was in town. The overall impression was that it was “fine”. Nothing was particularly outstanding in terms of the flavours. For one, the menu on their website differed a little from the actual menu in the restaurant, so there were some items I could not choose. I ultimately went with a marinated flounder appetizer and duck magret. Dinner started with an amuse bouche that was pork belly (from St-Jérome) that was a tad overcooked (fried) as it was a little bit tough even after being covered in a dashi broth, which itself felt greasy yet somehow also lacked even subtle flavour. The flounder that followed was unexpectedly served raw in a jus with a taste I only remember as being sour. The dried strawberry slices didn’t really add much as texture-wise didn’t match with the soft fish. The duck magret was the best dish although the fat could have been rendered a bit more as it was slightly chewy. The portion was disappointingly small and didn’t feel worth the $60 it cost even when factoring in the reputation of the restaurant. I skipped dessert and didn’t try the complimentary sweets at the end. As for ambience, I was sat close to the corner against a wall in a restaurant that was a quarter full. It was 6pm on a Saturday night with heavy snowfall earlier in the day, which might explain the lack of customers however the overall vibe felt lacking. The staff was cordial but unenthusiastic. I had to try because of the hype but now that I have, it’s not on my list of recommendations.
