   So pleased with our dinner here! The food was incredible, the staff so helpful and friendly and the vibe was super fun and relaxed. I will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone who loves authentic za and a cool atmosphere!

   Good vibe, great service. The pizza is tasty but definitely not my preferred style as it's so thin and crisp to almost be cracker like. Still probably go back but just for cocktails and antipasti.

   First time here. I will be back! The server was super friendly, attentive, and knowledgable about the menu. The atmosphere was super warm and welcoming. The pizza is amazing! Super thin crust and just the right amount of cheese. I definitely recommend Retro Gusto!

    We are always amazed by Retro Gusto and keep coming back! Top quality food, ambiance and service (which is so hard to find in a post pandemic world!). The seasonal rotating menu is always fresh and innovative. And most of all it takes a consistent. I am always proud and confident recommending it to others.

    The appetizers we had were on point, but the pizza fell flat. The crust was pretty good, but the rest of the pizza was soggy and not very flavorful. The spicy oil they had on the table added a lot. I found the restaurant to be incredibly loud, which resulted in almost yelling at my table mate. They could benefit from playing some music in the background to mellow out the loud noise. Service was impeccable!

    Was delicious, very fun atmosphere. Felt like I took a time machine to a 70s restaurant. Staff was very knowledgeable about the food and cocktails. We decided to let our server surprise us with choice of pizza and was blown away by zucchini pizza, never would have ordered that option on my own. Delicious. Also tried the potato croquettes and for a cocktail I chose a gin and elderflower spritz with fresh mint. Again delicious!

    What a great night out! Maggie and her colleagues ensured we had everything we needed. Even though we were a late reservation on a Sunday. Our group was ever changing and they handled it with ease. Food was amazing and the drinks and alcoholic and non alcoholic were the best I’ve had in the city.

    We came in from Montreal and it was our 1st stop in Ottawa. Amazing spot. Dirty Martini;great! Starter was 3 fried artichokes, served with a simple olive oil and slice of lemon, excellent, but wanted more. The burrata, arugula pizza excellent, salami with hot honey great and the simple margarita pizzas sauce was the star. Each pizza had its place. Our waiter was excellent; fun, cool, and talkative, but not too talkative. I would highly recommend this restaurant! Cool retro, ambiance. Great food and excellent service.

    We have loved Retro Gusto in the past and want to love it again, but we were disappointed in the service. We waited more than 1h 20min for our pizzas after our appetizers. No explanation was given for the wait, and it took til after an hour to hear an apology, yet other tables were getting their food. We know mistakes happen, but we would have been more forgiving with an explanation and our appetizers or something taken off our bill in a show of good faith.

    Overall, I love Retro Gusto. The food and service is always outstanding. However, we reserved through Open table a week before our reservation. When we arrived, we were informed we were to be seated at the bar. It was date night and we did not want to sit at the bar. When I stated my disappointment, I was informed that we have to specify we don’t want a bar seat when making a reservation. Thankfully the staff were able to seat us at a table and service/food were amazing. OpenTabl/Retro Gusto need to clarify what you are reserving. If there is only bar available it needs to be clearly stated when making a reservations so there is no surprise.

    Our server (super tall with tattoos) was absolutely excellent. He had perfect recommendations about the food (we were indecisive) and seemed to genuinely care about what we would like. We ended up going with his two favorites and we loved them. I find authentic Italian pizza is hard to find in Ottawa, but this was the real deal. We were asked to move tables to make space for a larger party and this was no issue for us whatsoever, but the server brought us tiramisu to make up for it (even though we were absolutely not phased), but it showed that he genuinely seemed to care about our experience. The place itself has an excellent atmosphere and super cool decor. We’ll definitely be back!
