Rickshaw Bar Ratings and Reviews
Food was awesome. Went for Valentine’s Day and it was delish.
Food and service were great but it was so cold in there that we had to eat dinner with our winter coats on.
Awesome food. And definitely something you won’t find elsewhere. Well worth it.
Amazing experience as usual! Staff and food are always the best!!!!
Highly recommend the brussel sprouts and the tealeaf salad. The apps were great. The shrimp curry as a main was also great!
It was an excellent restaurant to have share-ables
The food here was absolutely delicious! Everything was so rich and tasty, we wanted to order dessert but we were too full. Will definitely be going back to try more of the menu.
A complete fluke that I picked this place for my birthday, but it was absolutely incredible! So flavourful and different. My friend will be back with his sister next weekend and I’ll be back next time I’m in Toronto.
Honestly, it was great except for the quantity of food. A small bowl of plain white jasmine rice is $3. And I mean small bowl.
But the food was absolutely amazing.
If you’re on a budget then not the place for you. If you want to try something new then sure ! Try the Ismaili beef curry, cauliflower, basil Thai duck. Anything really.
WOW. I was in town for a couple of nights and got a recommendation to check this place out from a friend. Boy am I glad I hoofed it through snow and cold to dine here! I had the duck for a main and it was unbelievable. Great staff as well!
Best Indian food i have ever had. Staff is very competent and nice. The chef is amazing and the food is not outrageously expensive. Amazing experience.
Incredible food with incredible flavours. A good twist on modern day Indian cuisine!
Rickshaw Bar is a solid concept and has a trendy ambiance. The scallop ceviche was tasty but portion size was a bit too small. The shrimp curry was on point, a very well expected dish with a perfect portion size. The service lacked warmth. It felt as our server was on autopilot and this lessened our enjoyment factor.
Tasty food, small portions. The gin with tumeric was 😋 delicious.
Waiter seemed slightly annoyed when we wanted to move further from the door because of the cold air coming in. Tuesday night and only a few others dining.
Service was slow and the place was loud. Food was unique especially the shrimp curry which was amazing. It is literally a bar as it says. I stress that point because I thought it would be more like Diwan restaurant.
We had a birthday dinner at Rickshaw Bar the week before Christmas. I made a reservation at 6:15pm, got there on time and they are welcoming and anticipating us to arrive. We ordered the tasting menu that usually takes an hour and a half from start to finish. But as we had to go see a concert right after, they were able to rush it a bit for us into an hour to accommodate that.
Restaurant environment and ambiance was great with average to low noise level and background music (not pop music that can easily distract us from conversations!) We ordered the tasting menu and it was really good value! Love the crunch in their mung bean salad, the hint of Japanese cuisine in their Brussels sprouts, we got two chicken dishes (probably due to our preference to avoid beef) and they were both tender and juicy. The duck dish was a bit too salty but the texture was cooked to perfect.
Also love how they prepared the birthday surprise with a candle lit on top of the signature milk pastry and wine was fantastic too! We used the West Queen West gift card redeemed with Aeroplan miles to pay the bill which took them some time to figure it out but overall still great service!
Will definitely recommend!
The food and service were both excellent. We shared 8 different dishes over the course of the evening, and they were all very different from each other and each was equally well prepared and presented.
Amazing and so delicious! The waiter was also super friendly and knowledgeable and all his recommendations hit the mark. There are so many restaurants in Toronto that you never have to go back once you have tried a place. I will definitely come back here for another visit!
Best meal in recent memory. Service was great. I am already excited about eating there again.
Visited this restaurant once before a few months ago. The food tastes were wonderful but the portions were much skimpier than I remember from the first time. I think the restaurant is making smaller portions for the same prices as before. I was disappointed in that part of the experience.
A great find for foodies! A perfect date spot. Try the Brussels spots and chefs grandmother’s curry beef dish. The cardomon gin drink was incredible. We will go back to try other menu items. One of new favs.
We usually got to Rickshaw before going to Factory theatre, but tonight the show at Factory was early so we went after. We finally got to do the chef's tasting menu and it was SPECTACULAR!!! Every dish was outstanding, portions were good and it was an amazing way to find some new favourites on the menu. As well the service was just perfect! A true team approach! What a great evening
We loved our dinner at Rickshaw Bar! Everything was delicious start to finish. The mung bean salad is a must-try, absolutely delicious and definitely unique. You can tell everything is freshly-made in house, with a lot of care and thought put into every dish. Our server knew the menu inside and out, and was able to advise on allergies and preferences with confidence. He was also friendly and efficient (like the rest of the staff that night). The wines and beers were extremely well-priced. We didn’t try any cocktails, but watched a few being crafted while waiting at the bar (we were early) and they looked delicious and not at all cheap on the liquor. We’ll definitely be trying one or two next time, because we’ll be back for sure.
Service very good, food adequate, portions too small... found cauliflower dish quite hilarious, 3 small florets.
Exception...tea leaf salad. Brilliant.
So many places on King and Queen to eat excellent food, Rickshaw doesn't stand out. Perhaps for cocktails & snacks, it's OK. Nice ambiance.
This is consistently a fantastic restaurant - service is always great, friendly helpful and the food is outstanding. I keep returning keep turning new people onto this restaurant but maybe I should stop or it will get too crowded ;), but it is truly a delicious meal. All the apps are amazing I think they’re called starters and their main dishes are flavorful, try the shrimp curry you won’t be sorry. Kudos to the kitchen!
Very tasty food and excellent service.
Pricey for the portion size
Table by front door very cold when door opens
2 washrooms and one was out of order and the other did not flush properly
Exceptional flavors. Brought a guest from out of town and it was a special meal. We read the review in Toronto Life and it was so accurate. The eclairs ( not made in house) were the only disappointment.
Superlative meal in every way. Food was amazing.
All the food was delicious and the IPA beer was good. We especially like chicken 685 and the Brussels sprouts
Main dish was super slow and server didn't acknowledge
Great experience dining here with a large group. A bit pricey though. Food was good.
Food is absolutely delicious. Think Indian street fare done chic. We sampled 5 different dishes and each one was phenomenal. Will definitely be back.
Two visits in two weeks. Both EXCELLENT. Each dish with different flavours and all were well balanced between spice and flavour and presentation.
Been meaning to try this place for a while. Don't know what took so long. Great food. Great service. Tasting menu had so many of the things we wanted to try on the menu. Staff and servers were awesome too. Will definitely be back.
A real gem. Each bite impresses with complex and perfectly balanced spicing and flavour - delicious!
The food was too salty. Small portions and overpriced for the quality... although the menu descriptions sounded great, the flavors just didn't jive well and was too bold in my opinion.
Our party if 4 did the tasting menu and the flavours were amazing on every single dish. The variety and the quantity were ample. The only dush that did not hit the mark was the duck. It was chewy and difficult to eat. Our server did explain each dish but with the restaurant being full and the noise level high it was difficult to hear him, but the flavours were all so amazing it did not matter much.
My favourite was the Ceveche and the beef curry. Meet will return again and again thanks Nooteen !
Best pakora ever! Creative fusion of different traditional cultural flavours. I will be back again soon.
We were there for my husband's birthday and we absolutely loved everything that we had. It's all about the taste! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves and understands food. We are going back there soon with family and friends!Only thing that could have been better was less louder music since it was difficult to have a conversation without being loud, over the music. But the food totally compensated for that!
Great venue, delicious and inventive meals, would definitely head back and would recommend to anyone interested in a yummy meal and a great evening out on W Queen W.
