Everything about this restaurant is divine. Expect a leisurely meal. And get dessert.
Always enjoy Daniela's, even when it was the tiny place up the street. Very good pastas and the veal is good too. Need a few more options with second course, more veal and chicken dishes. The ones that they have are delicious! The service is warm and welcoming ( Stefano)So glad to have it close to home!
Amazing amazing!! Food is so delicious! Everything is made from scratch! Best and nicest staff!! You must try this place!!!
First visit. Quality authentic cuisine holds true to Sicilian roots of owner.
Some items better than others no dissapointments though. Worthy of future visits to keep trying things on their menu.
Food was delicious - homemade pastas amazing! Service was pleasant, professional and efficient!
This was our fifth visit to Restorante Daniela and we have never been disappointed. Wonderful variation on Italian food (Sardinian accents)and fabulous deserts. It is family owned and run with Daniela herself in the kitchen and son Stefano serving in a warm and professional manner. Everyone we have gone with has raved .
Fantastic food and service. My husband is gluten free and they made him fresh gluten free pasta and gluten free gnocchi. All the sauces were amazing. The service was super- everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Best place ever!
Had a wonderful fresh tasting meal with attentive service. Will be back
The Malloreddus was quite salty. Any more salt and it would have been inedible. Didn't dare send it back because it took so long to get the dish in the first place, so my partner would have had to wait for my dish and eat hers cold, or I could have watched her eat her dinner and then she would have had to watch me eat mine.
Very stingy with the bread--you get just 1 piece each with your entree, and if you want more, you have to pay $2.49 extra!
Couldn't get decaf coffee, which was quite disappointing. Dessert was very good, though.
My wife and I were in Baltimore for the weekend and searched Yelp for lasagna. Daniela had good reviews so we gave it a try. We both got the Lasagna alla Bolognese and agreed it was one of if not the best lasagna that we have tasted. Our waiter was really friendly and kept a check on us. We definitely plan to return whenever we are in Baltimore.
Charming intimate family run place; mom’s cooking and son is the waiter. Food is delicious and the ambiance is a little slice of Italy.
Adorable little place in Hamden! Food is basically Italian with a twist as much of it is based upon Sardinian cuisine. Very friendly service and very comfortable atmosphere. Would definitely go back!
This restaurant has a warm, homey ambiance, a friendly staff and delicious food. I will be going back.
Our entrees - particularly the flouder - were well executed. Husband raved over his cannoli. Nice atmosphere. Good wait staff. Will go back.
Food was amazing.... loved atmosphere! Staff was friendly & attentive!
Our server was very personable and knowledgeable about the ingredients and preparation of our dishes. The chef and owner, Daniela, came to our table to see if we were enjoying our meals. A very nice touch! All three of us look forward to returning to this restaurant again.
Came with a group of 6. Reservations are must for weekends Service was really good even though the restaurant was crowded And people were waiting. Food was good and different. Dessert esp tiramisu is recommended
We have there there a number of times and each time leaving with us commenting "how wonderful our meal was". We try something different each time have never been disappointed. The service was professional at the same time sincere. He took the time to explain the dishes and was attentive with request. We will be back with or with out friends. Its great for just a couple and even more special to share with company.
Food was fantastic. Our server was funny and upbeat, with a wonderful authentic italian accent which added to our experience. The preparation of the various dinners was wonderful - each bite was better than the last and we had all we could do not to clean our plates as we tried to get enough of the wonderful flavors. Will definitely come back.
Food is always very good. Brought out of town family there as I knew we’d be able to talk and catch up.
We had a nice table up front.
Food was prepared very well.
Only downside is the service. It’s a little up and down. Either overly solicitous or no where to be found.
But, Daniela’s food makes up for it.
We love Ristorante Daniela - an authentic Italian experience in Hampden, with great service and food that tastes like it was homemade with love in a Sardinian kitchen. We go for special occasions but the prices are reasonable for what you get so you can visit to make any night special. Highly recommended!!!
Excellent food affordable and very good Italian wines
After tasting their food at one of the Hampden street festivals I knew I had to get back here for a proper meal. (I still dream about that divine meatball sub though...) The menu is somewhat small, but everything on it is made in house with high quality ingredients and a lot of care. Nice selection of wines by the glass or bottle, but the other beverage options are limited. Our party sampled a few different pasta dishes (lasagna, seafood ravioli, and gnocchi) and a grilled vegetable antipasti and we enjoyed everything we ate. There was talk of grandma-made desserts, but we were ultimately too full to sample anything on this visit. We will be back!
Tried this restaurant since we saw it was new to Open Table and it did not disappoint. Authentic Italian food all made from scratch. All family and friends working in the restaurant and our waiter was Daniela's son so he knew what was good and great since he grew up with these meals. We each had something different and we were all happy with our meals. Tables a bit tiny for all the food we ate but otherwise very good service and authentic homemade food. Tiramisu for dessert was very good. Give it a try.
