Every detail and part of each recipe served at the restaurant is made from complete scratch, from the pasta and sauces, to the puff pastry and creams in our delicious desserts!
We also serve special dinners off menu which can be reserved in advance, ranging from $37 to $45 per person. These special dinners consist of a family style 3 course meal with an abundant amount of tastings for each course with different tastes of cuisines based on meat, seafood/fish, and vegetarian recipes.
Besides dining in and carrying out, Daniela is also available to cater your special events such as weddings, graduations, birthdays, etc.
Excellent restaurant all the way around. Quaint atmosphere, great menu, delicious food! Service is always fine and friendly. Just a great dining experience.
I read the online reviews and I thought it is worth to try it. The restaurant has a nice ambience, but the food was not good and we pay around $33/person, which was not cheap.
We have loved this place since it was a hole-in-the-wall down the street from its present location. Thank goodness that as it gained in popularity and moved to its present, more spacious location, it lost none of its quality and intimate feel. Whenever I visit from California, Daniela's is a must. Whatever will I do when my daughters no longer go to school in Baltimore?!
I love Daniela's - it is a real family run affair and it has very interesting Sardinian specialties on the menu. The staff (part family) are lovely and the ambiance is charming. Great Hampden restaurant.
Daniella's is a family restaurant that is the epitome of just that. The owner Daniella makes all of the pasta and sauce from scratch. Her son, and who seems like close family friends, serves the guests with great teamwork and pleasant attitudes. The restaurant itself gives of a comfortable homey feel making the good food taste even better.
An unbelievable gem of an Italian restaurant in Baltimore. The food was excellent and service was very prompt. It is both very Italian and very Baltimore being on the Avenue. We will be going back to Daniela’s soon to try something new on the menu. There were so many choices that anyone would want to go back for some good old fashioned Italian home cooking. Molto Bene!
I really enjoyed the food, it was all fresh. Better than some of the Italian restaurants I ate at in Italy. Good value too, portions were nice. I would definitely go back and try some of the other pasta dishes.
Real Italian experience.
Un vero ristorante italiano con un vero cibo italiano.
Tutto è così piacevole che non puoi lasciare questo posto meraviglioso
A real Italian restaurant with a real Italian food.
Everything is so pleasant that you can't leave this wonderful place
Dining at Daniela is a wonderful experience - from the delicious Sardinian dishes to the friendly and attentive staff who make sure your visit is special and welcoming. Our waiter, Stefano, explained the recipes that have been passed down through Daniela's family and the ones she has created. We started with two appetizers for the table, the Coze Marinate - tender and delicious mussels served in a fresh tomato sauce, and the Antipasto di Mare. Lightly fried baby sardines, calamari and shrimp. I had the Fregula con Coccuilas for the main course. Daniela makes the Fregula, a traditional Sardinian pasta that is rolled into very small balls similar to cous cous, but entirely different in texture and taste. It is infused with saffron and is made by hand fresh each day. The Fregula was served with fresh clams in a wonderful sauce! I have not tasted this recipe anywhere else in the area! For dessert I had the Millefoglie al Cioccolato, which was an almost frozen layered chocolate and pastry that was amazing! Everyone loved their meal!!
This restaurant knows what their doing. We are always so pleased with everything here. Even dessert is incredible.
Great date night. The homemade pasta is some of the best I’ve ever had. The strawberry tiramisu was an excellent twist on a classic dessert. Service was very attentive but not annoying.
We had a wonderful dining experience. The food was awesome. The service was terrific. We found it delightful that it was a small quaint restaurant.
Really excellent food, quiet environment and excellent service.
Nice quiet spot with an extensive selection of appetizers, entrees, desserts, and wines. The Sardinian spices made routine dishes special--the tomato soup was exquisite, for example.
Food was good
Service was excellent
I’d go back
Nice porch in season
This was our second visit, and we pleasantly confirmed that this is the warm, friendly, delicious place that we'd encountered the first time. It's worth it for us to drive 20 minutes; if we lived in Hampden we'd be at Daniela's more than once a month - the food is THAT good, and reasonably priced for handmade pasta and fresh ingredients.
Daniela's is a cute restaurant with a homey atmosphere. Our waitress, Dalia, was wonderful. She knew every dish on the menu & made some great suggestions. She checked back with us to make sure we were satisfied with each appetizer, entree, wine & dessert we ordered. She has a wonderful smile.
We will definitely come back again.
Great little place on The Avenue. Loved the traditional ambience (old rowhouse conversion). Food was very good; only comment was that my pasta was on the salty side (and I like salt). I gave feedback got waiter so hopefully Daniela adjusts the measure a bit. Grilled veg to start was very good. Friend’s scallopini was SOOOO tender and delicious! Not a huge portion of it but the best I’ve ever tasted. Came with large portion of mashed potato. Service (by Daniela’s son) was excellent.
Very accommodating for special diets; Daniella made me a salt free gluten-free yummy veggie pasta dish. All of her pasta dishes are outstanding, and service by her son Stefan is outstanding too.
Amazing home made pasta. Panna Cota is to die for
everything yummy from beginning to end-I am Celiac so no gluten-Daniela came out of kitchen with GF floured hands as she was making fresh gluten free pastas to order! Amazing meat canneloni with tomato and bechamel sauce
This was my second time there- cannot wait to return-its so nice for someone gluten free to know they can eat comfortably and without worry that their food will not be contaminated with regular flour-in addition -there are so many gluten free choices-but to get gluten free FRESH homemade pasta is a dream come true
Daniela made my requested Fettuccine al Ragú which wasn’t on the menu. Such delicious food that melts in your mouth and wonderful service. We’ll be back...often!!
Love this place.
Dined there twice last week.
Food is always wonderful and service is beautiful. Tried a new dessert which was spectacular and refreshing: a swirl of lemon and vanilla gelato. It was perfect after the spicy dish I had eaten.
I particularly love the ambiance which is reminiscent of a restaurant in an Italian village.
Daniela is an undiscovered GEM! Had dinner their last night and going back for lunch tomorrow. Our food was totally spectacular and served beautifully by Daniela's son, Stefan. We also watched everything coming out of the kitchen and every dish looked magnificent.
Food was great. No complaints
Maybe I just hit Daniela on an off night. Or ordered the wrong items. My experience doesn't read like most of the other reviews on here.
I started with a Caesar salad. Yep... I forgot about the on-going Romaine scare. Daniela's didn't. They served up a plate of under-dressed iceberg with a few croutons and a heavy covering of tasteless shaved cheese. For $12. This was not a good start. You should definitely tell diners that you're going to substitute iceberg. I would've chosen another starter had I known.
Friends had recommended the veal, so I ordered that. The menu says it is "double sauteed". It had the textured of being fried. It was very crispy. And overcooked. And dry. And a small portion. And tasted a bit of too-old grease. And was $21.00. It was served with a side of "parsley potatoes", which were actually mashed potatoes with a LOT of lemon juice. And no parsley.
The waiter recommended the tiramisu. He was right - it is very good.
The service was warm and friendly.
I was there with friends/clients, so didn't feel comfortable sending food back. I would definitely have done so if I had been dining alone.
the best Italian restaurant in Baltimore. Hand made pasta, fresh ingredients, superb cooking
We enjoyed a family dinner here this past week. The service was fine, the staff was very friendly, and the gnocchi was fabulous, especially the pesto marinara sauce that accompanied it!
Outstanding! Great setting in a house in Hamden, exceptionally friendly service and truly outstanding food. I don't know why it took us so long to discover this place but it's now on our list of favorites.
Excellent Italian food. Homemade pasta with a Sardinian twist to it. We forgot to pick up our credit card. I called the next day. They had it!!!!! In an old converted row home in the Hampden neighborhood. Family-run. Super helpful with menu suggestions. Our waiter was the owner's son. Will definitely return.
absolutely wonderful place for a meal. great service. family vibe with owner and her family. service was great. food was beyond wonderful.
A bit much for our single server to manage. He did his best, but it was a bit too much for him. This was a special family occasion for us, and unfortunately it didn’t feel too special. We were squeezed into the six person table. Food was quite nice except for a dry cold desert pastry
loved the food and our waiter was excellent. would recommend this place to others looking for a good dining experience.
I brought six friends for dinner as my Christmas gift to them. So, of course, I wanted it to be special. I have been there before and loved the food, setting and charming, attentive staff. Unfortunately the staff and kitchen were overwhelmed by customers and underwhelmed by staff. They tried their best and were characteristically pleasant but they were just swamped. Three of the seven dishes were not up to their usual homemade standards (one went mostly uneaten because of "glumpy" pasta and the asparagus on another was limp and tasteless). The strudel tasted store bought. The soups, lasagna and tiramisu, however, were up to their usual wonderful, home made standards. And the nearly private room was a very special setting.
I trust this night was an aberration and I will return. Since this was their only experience there, however, I do not think my friends will.
We had a early dinner. We were in a separate room(it’s two rowhouses)by ourselves after a family left so we were able to carry a conversation without a problem. The service was just fine. The food was delicious and nicely proportioned. When we left others were seated in our room and the main dining room was full. The tables are close but not really loud.
Local neighborhood gem in Hampden, west of Johns Hopkins Homewood campus. Daniela makes excellent pasta--our party of 6 was delighted with some of the best pasta dishes we've ever had, and we have eaten in trattorias and osterias in Italia. Must visit if you like noodles and are in Baltimore. Appetizers arent as impressive but it is very difficult to beat the pasta. Cozy ambiance. It needs (and deserves) much more attention--I only learned about Daniela's during my 5th year in Baltimore!
Food is delicious and atmosphere is casual and friendly. It is a wonderful family business.
It was our first time at Daniela’s and we will definitely be back! We had a table for 8 and everyone loved their food and great service and very friendly staff!
GOOD ITALIAN FOOD IN A PLEASANT SETTING. ALL ITALIAN WINE LIST, WITH SEVERAL WINES NOT TYPICALLY FOUND ON LOCAL WINE LISTS. ALL WINES (EXCEPT SPECIAL LIST) ARE REASONABLE. THE FRITTO MIXTO INCLUDED FRIED WHOLE SMALL ANCHOVIES, COMMON IN ITALY, RARE IN USA.
