Come for the view and the service - not the food. Food is good, overpriced, but expected for the location. I really like that they choose local ingredients, and have a list of the local companies they work with on the menu. Come for the view at sunset - have a pint and relax with the excellent attentive service.
Would not recommend at this point. We arrive early for our reservation from a Dental Conference next door at Shaw Conference Center and seated at the table. Our orders for lunch were placed at 12:30pm There was a large table of a dozen or so people who received all the attention and service. I think one of the hotel managers was at this table. As we sat there other people had been seated and started receiving their food before us. Even after the large table had been served and had left., we were still waiting. Our food was served at 1:30 over an hour wait and one of the orders was wrong beef burger instead of salmon, so we had to wait again for this to be remedied. We were barely back in time for the afternoon session for 2:00 pm
The food was very good . View of the river valley is amazing.
You cannot beat the view at this outdoor restaurant. The food was somewhat better than average but the portions were very small for prices in the mid twenties range. Wine prices range from $18 to $25 for a 9 ounce glass seems excessive ...
Great view, food wasn’t anything special and a bit pricey
Leon was excellent. The food, the service & the view was amazing. We will be back soon
Great view, great service, decent food and value! My girlfriend and I had a great time and will definitely be coming back in the future. Great date night spot.
Was a very strange experience. The lights were very bright. The “bistro” is just an extension (afterthought?) of the main lobby, which was noisy and distracting. To be fair we could not sit out on the patio because it was raining. The food was good, but the house wine was simply awful. Had to pay a lot for a decent bottle of white. To top everything off, they had the temerity to serve us INSTANT COFFEE (decaf) and still charge $3.50 a cup!! Absolutely disgusting. Will definitively not be back.
Loved our food - probably the best burger I have ever eaten and was the consensus at the table with my three friends. Chef came over and asked how things were going as well as the manager. Now that is a posh and personal touch and very much appreciated. Would dine here again.
Really enjoyed the ambiance of looking over the river valley. The service was very good and the food was quite delicious. I enjoyed my time there.
We enjoyed our lunch and especially the incredible view of our beautiful river valley. This was our first time at the Riverside Bistro and the ambiance was lovely. I am planning on coming back to have a nice lunch and view the fall colors! Staff was friendly, courteous and attentive. Thank you!
Had a great evening, weather cooperated for us and ambiance is amazing. Food was good, service was good. Really appreciate the parking service you provide. Takes a lot of stress of people . Good job
We were impressed by the excellent service by the staff in this beautiful restaurant . The view is marvelous. The restaurant is newly renovated. The food came very fast. We came to this restaurant to celebrate our 38 anniversary and enjoy the 3 hours we spend . The Honey garlic chicken wing was very good. Will come back in the future.
Went for an evening of dinner and drinks. The service was good and the ambiance is wonderful. I loved the music that played on the patio. I ordered the Thai Rice Bowl and my gf ordered the short rib. The Thai Bowl was pretty good but more spicy than anticipated. The short rib meal was atrocious. The meat wasnt tender and it tasted awful. The server was lovely though. I would recommend this place for the view and ambiance alone but the lovely people at this establishment need to bring up their food game I would say. Overall a good experience.
We went there for dinner on 3 Aug. The food was very good (specially quesadilla with sweet potato fries) and so was the ambiance. The service was also very good. Victoria and a gentleman (i don't know his name) were very nice and welcoming. Overall it was a good experience for us.
Great food with one of the best patios in Edmonton. We will certainly return.
The OpenTable reservation did not pass through our special requirements which caused a problem with seating
I made a reservation for 10:00 on the patio, only to arrive and find out the patio doesn’t open until 11:00. This was not indicated on the website. Our whole reason for choosing this restaurant was the beautiful patio.
We decided to stay and asked for a window table , the waitress was very annoyed with us for requesting a table she would have to clean.
We decided to have the buffet, the food was room temperature and the potatoes were awful, cold and dry.
We have eaten here before and generally have had good experiences, this was so bad I doubt we will be back.
Great experience! Highly recommend booking a patio spot in advance to experience the better views of the river valley! Cocktails were refreshing - hummus was extremely large for the price; however, not enough veggies/naan provided for the quantity. Great service!
Overall experience was pretty good but the person who seated us needed an attitude adjustment. She didn’t ask if we had a reservation and assumed we hadn’t and barked that we needed one. When told we had a reservation, she was very gruff. The spot we picked had no umbrella and was told they were all in use, so sat elsewhere and then 5 min later a group was seated there and a umbrella was brought to them. This was a different person from the gruff one. We questioned our server about this and she said she’d found one that was partly hidden.
They’re renovating and was no mention of this when I booked a reservation- so it was a bit distracting having workers coming by our table non stop and the noise etc. Of the work. Looks like it’ll be nice though. The menu prices seem to have gone up a bit too.
Initially, I wasn’t too impressed by the customer service because over the phone I asked when we could come if it was busy right now and the lady told us to come in an hour because it is and was not very enthusiastic over the phone. However, I noticed open table had a reservation time available for within the next 15 mins and through open table I went in told them my reservation and we got a spot instead of listening to the lady over the phone. The food was good otherwise, customer service at the location itself was great, I am so happy with it because we were given the chance to move to a spot closer to the edge to see the view, who seemed like the manager was very friendly, ambience was great the view is gorgeous, prices aren’t too crazy for the view. I loved it.
Service and food were great; however, I wish they played music in the background. It was weird hearing the conversations from the other tables.
We loved the ambience and the views. Amazing location. However, the food was not worth the money they charged. Why charge 19$ for a salad that doesn’t come with dressing and “canned” corn?! Horrible. But anyways, overall experience was alright because of the view and the outdoor patio.
great service and nice views..would recommend this restaurant
My fri3nds were from out of town and I wanted to sit on a patio with a view. They loved the view.
Friends get together! Perfect!
Great food, service and river valley view.
It took going thru 3 people before we were finally seated. They were out of all house wines and many others. They were out of cauliflower, steak, short ribs and the list goes on. They said they were busy that’s why they were out of everything. They need a New food and beverage manager. Also, the hostess that finally seated us needs to dress much more appropriate. This was our first time there and our experience was terrible!
Very interesting service!!!! My husband asked the server about the short ribs... She replied "I do not eat beef" leaving my husband to figure out for himself what may be good and popular on the menu. In addition we waited more than 30 minutes for a beer. After tracking the server down she told us that she "placed the order with the bar tender but he disappeared". That was the end of her sentence (leaving us to feel that there was nothing that can be done about it). We could not wait to get our bill so we can leave! My salad was ok and the view was nice.
Great view, one of the best in town. Food is mediocre, sounds much better than it actually is, drinks are good. We tried to order ribs or steak, we were told its sold out, by 3 pm? Seems a bit odd, on Fathers day, to be out of meats.
We go there for the view. Service staff is nice and helpful. Although we were told we could not sit by the ledge because the tables were reserved, the 2.5 hours we sat in the middle of the restaurant, no one used the table, would have been nice to be offered to sit closer to the beautiful view.
I would hope that the restaurant manager improves the taste of the menu, the staff should be dressed nicer and tried to accommodate guests as best as possible. Exceptional customer service is a rarity these days, mimic Fairmont next door on how they serve customers.
The view and the food were fantastic! The service, however. Grossly understaffed. Drink order never taken. We had a reservation that was meaningless. Our server made the best of it and tried hard. We’d go back for the food and the view but with lower expectations for service.
The food was really bad, the area was horrible I had the steak and it was not good, drinks were overpriced but service was good
The service and food were great! We actually had the private space to ourselves which was nice, we didn't have to worry about disturbing anyone. The only thing that could have been better is if there was background music playing in the space.
Great location and patio, but the food was mediocre. My husband had the burger and said A&W was better, thought it was a frozen hamburger patty that had been microwaved.
The food is always top notch. But, the service was a bit dicey this time which is unusual. I think they are struggling with the renovation which will be over soon and we will be back for a group on the deck at the end of the month. Hopefully everything will be back to their standard great service by then.
Patio was overbooked do they were not able to accommodate our reservation. Seated us at an overflow table not suited for dining, dropped off some water & menus (no drink menu) & did not return. We left after 20 minutes of waiting and walked over to Madison’s Grill at the Union Bank Inn where the service & food was exceptional.
Came in with my family after my graduation. There was 4 of us. The inside is under construction right now, so you can tell everything is sort of temporarily put together. All the wait staff seemed really new and like no one really knew what they were doing. Took forever to get a drink and food order, and then probably another 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive. 2 meals came first then about 5 minutes later the next two came. The food was alright, nothing exceptional, but tasty. After we were finished eating it probably took another 20 minutes for us to get the bill. Honestly the only reason I made a reso here was for the patio and the view of the river valley. If I were to come back it would probably just be for drinks or something small. Wouldn’t come back for a nice occasion.
The view....best part.
We had reservations, the room was emppty, no one arpund to seat us...do ypu just walk in??, when we did sit, a waiter gu ally came qho kept telling us our orders will take long, almost making us feel like he wanted us just to say ok we will leave. If we didnt have a few hours to kill we would have qqlked out.
Our drinks tasted like syrup, the food-nothing special.
3rd time there and most likely the last. Each visit was unimpressive.
Beautiful view though.
