The dining room is very exclusive, wait staff attentive, food superb, BUT.... why have the music so loud that you need to yell to your dining companions. Don't get it. You want to be recognized as a top restaurant and it was on my bucket list, but the music took away from everything. It should be light jazz in the background to fit the image you want and the clientele I think you're trying to get.
Love this restaurant. Great food, good atmosphere, lovely service.
Beef tartare, 10 out of 10
Mushrooms on toast, 8 out of 10(good flavour just a little too salty)
Iceberg wedge w. Nordic shrimp 8 out of 10
Lobster spaghetti, 8 out of 10 good sauce and spaghetti, again it’s quite salty
Rabbit saddle, 6 out of 10 stuffing has a strange texture. The pea purée was a highlight
Halibut, 10 of 10
Service was wonderful and professional.
Our experience at the Riviera was excellent. The food was so tasty and a delight to look at. The service was professional and friendly. I had the raw tuna and the halibut while my husband had the gnudi and the sirloin. We were both very pleased with our selections. The desserts were delicious as well. This is a restaurant I will be happy to recommend to my friends.
Food and service was awesome. Not the place for a quiet romantic dinner though.
Amazing food and cocktails. Loved the tuna crudo and the lamb ragu pasta. Highly recommended.
The service was top notch and the cocktail menu was very interesting, however the food fell short considering the price. The mushrooms on toast was so salty in places that I lost the taste of the lovely sauce. My husband had the stuffed rabbit and thought it was very bland. The seafood chowder and the lobster spaghetti were ok.
Excellent dinner. Great cocktails. Great food. Highly recommend starting with Beef Tartare, moving to the Tagliatelle pasta dish and then the Rabbit saddle for mains, all of which pair well with a bottle of a Barbera d’Alba.
Unique Restaurant in Ottawa, such refinement is a must
Dinner was amazing and our server/bartender Mackenzie was as well!
Lovely waiter, lovely food. Next time, eill order less:)!
Great Food and cocktails!! Full recomended in your next visit to ottawa
The food and the ambiance was very good. I don't believe that the quality and taste of the food warrants the price tag but it is certainly worth a visit.
Inventive menu, both food and drink. Informed and charming service. Loved every bite and every sip!
Great spot for our 3 year wedding anniversary. Amazing food and Service. Thanks for making the evening special.
Hi service excellent .
Food so so..
The food delivery service was very slow, we sat at the bar and partons a little too comfortable around us. We felt crammed for parts of the evening in but overall enjoyable.
This was a wonderful restaurant experience. Our waiter greeted us promptly, suggested we chat with the sommelier (who was fabulous), he suggested a wonderful bottle of wine. We both had the iceberg wedge (1 is big enough for 2 people). My husband had pasta and I had halibut, both were excellent.
The restaurant is in an old bank building, so the ceiling is very high, beautiful bar area. There is limited seating and it definitely filled up around 7:00pm, so recommend reservations. Everything about this experience was ideal. The wait staff was very attentive but not overbearing or pushy. We had a great time celebrating our anniversary and are already planning our next visit. Definitely try Riviera.
From the excellent food to the excellent service to the beautiful space, it's always a pleasure to dine at Riviera.
Excellent, friendly competent service. Our server and the manager were both lovely with us. The food and drinks were superb. The vibe of the place was excellent. It’s a pricey night out but definitely worth the treat!
The highlights for me were the wedge salad and the bread. For the main course I chose the bass. It was tasteless, except for the coating , and overcooked. The pavlova was also disappointing. The wines are overpriced . My bill showed a $7.00 increase over the wine list.
My partner enjoyed his pate, rabbit and creme brûlée .
The coffee was good. The service was good.
This is the fourth time and we keep trying to like it as much as everyone else. But the food just doesn’t match the price in serving size or taste. My salmon was perfectly cooked but quite salty. The cocktail was delicious. The server was attentive but not Uber professional and we left a few things on the bench when we left and nobody bothered to reach out. Since we had a reservation via Open Table, they had our information. Someone there got lucky and kept what we left behind. Just disappointing overall for such an “high end” place.
Expensive, but well worth it for a special occasion
50th wedding anniversary
Great drinks ! Very good food ! Great Service!
We had a very good server she was very knowledgeable and she paired our dishes with Canadian wines which was really fun. I feel it is really smart to promote our wines and tourists will have a great experience!
We were warned off because by a friend because of the noise. We booked anyway and did not find it distracting-on the contrary enjoyable.
The food being offered on the menu is well tought, but a little too expensive for the inredients selected. Same goes for the drinks; 19$ for Mezcal or a Negroni, it's a lot. My friend asked for a dish with only meat (strict diet) and got 3 patties with cheese; looked like he got served in a Diner.
There's an important lack of decoration in the restaurant. There should be paintings or plants or something that makes the environment more welcoming/trendy & fun.
Excellent food and service. However the music is too loud, difficult to carry on a conversation
If you’re looking for an average meal riviera is the place you’re looking for. The chowder was cold and our entrees were so salty they were barely edible. The building is nice but the decor is very bland for what could be a beautiful restaurant. All in all, riviera is very overrated.
As always amazing service, incredible food - never disappointing
Absolutely amazing. It is the best restaurant I have been to in Ottawa!
Arrived for a 1:30 reservation and left at 1:45 without the restaurant showing the least sign of concern.
Riviera never disappoints. The menu is short but focused. Choice of cocktails and wines is extensive. The food is always delicious and well-presented. The cost is on the upper end but the quality of the dining experience more than justifies it.
Great food, drinks and ambience. But a bit pricey even for the quality and level of service. Don’t particularly care for the open kitchen concept.
It was a guy’s night out, but in style. Awesome service, great oysters to share and then super entrees! Highly recommended.
A great experience with a nice atmosphere and with great food.
They make the BEST whiskey sours in town! Everything the 4 of us tried was lovely. Special kudos to the raw oysters (we watched the shucker behind the bar sniff every single one for freshness), the wedge salad (shrimp and delightful dressing), and the chicken liver pate (almost a mousse and so full of flavour). The service is impeccable too!
This restaurant is at the top of my favourites in Ottawa. We have been a few times, for lunch and for dinner, and it has never disappointed. The service is friendly and professional, always pleasant, and the food is just simply outstanding. I love this place!
