Dinning at Rivera is a treat. Certainly can't afford to do this often, but once in a long while. Had the seafood tower, steak, halibut and grilled octopus, and creme brûlée (between three of us). Every dish is good, waking up my taste bud in pleasant ways. The server took time to interact with us, making recommendations but not too pushy. The host was friendly and welcoming. It was my son's 22nd birthday, and a wonderful memory.

The room was great. The food was just ok though. The wine was hugely disappointing, I didn’t recognize a single bottle. I’m a big wine guy and didn’t recognize literally one bottle, so I looked a few up and every bottle they are charging 5x the retail price. It’s unreal. I couldn’t buy any wine just in principal. Cocktails were good though.

Our server was absolutely wonderful. It would be impossible to improve the food, it was perfection. And our cocktails/beverages were so good. I’m in love with Pear Pressure and want to go back just to order more of it. Thank you for a wonderful night out.

My family and I came to Ottawa for an event and a friend who lives here said Riviera is a must. It surpassed our expectations on every front. The room is downright glamorous, the lighting makes everyone gorgeous. The service was impeccable, the cocktail menu is inventive, the wine list and wine by the glass offerings were tip top and the food is superb. I would get on a plane again and come to Ottawa just for the mushrooms on toast. Super fantastic evening. Thank you!

Please give the manager a raise. We need more managers like that. He looked good and was very friendly and humble. I don’t see anyone able to replace him. He went above and beyond yesterday

Staff were amazing and sat us immediately after us telling them we had a reservation. Bar Staff were super friendly and were quick to fill up our water glasses when they were low. All of the staff were super professional and the food came quickly. Will definitely be coming back here for date nights in the future!

This was our second time coming here and we’re thrilled by it all every time. Tim was exceptional; extremely observant and attentive. The food and cocktails are always a home run, especially the duck breast!

Here goes, this is a beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous old building. The bar is incredible. It feels special to walk in there and be greeted by an elegant gentleman who takes your coat and shows you to your table. The cocktail, Pear Pressure, was delightful and the highlight of the dinner. The roasted squash salad was also very nice. Then came the main course, steak frites. The most disappointing. Tasteless and overcooked with ordinary fries that were once frozen. The wine was good but no credit goes to the restaurant. The desert, crème brûlée, was excellent. The service was good which is probably due to the very many staff, most of them totally underdressed for a fancy place. All for $336 plus tip for 2 people. If you go, don’t order the steak frites.

Excellente gastronomie et un service impeccable. Décor luxueux et moderne qui avec son plafond élevé accentue l’espace. Seul bémol est le manque d’intimité avec des tables rapprochées et séparées seulement par quelques centimètres.

What was cold was awesome. Tatare was great, oysters and chowder were very good. Duck was tough, and the entirety of the plate was cold. Striploin was good, but lukewarm. Fries were unedible. Drinks were good. Missing vodkas on alcohol list.

Riviera exceeded expectations! The atmosphere was lovely and our waiter was excellent - attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Great whiskey sour, outstanding chowder (must have!), and well balanced entrees. Will definitely come again when visiting Ottawa.

Probably my favourite restaurant in the city. Amazing ambience, service, and food. Had a great bottle of wine, the duck, steak frites, and lobster spaghetti were delicious but the lobster spaghetti is by far the best dish on the menu. 10/10, absolutely love coming here !

We got the lobster pasta and the mushroom halibut... Both were delicious and perfectly cooked. The service was great, although drinks took a while. The restaurant is in an old bank w/ 40 foot ceilings and beautiful stone details everywhere. Great for 2 people or people that want to drink at the large bar.

Riviera sets the standard for an exemplary dining experience. The venue is awe-inspiring with its cathedral height ceilings, central loooooong bar and intimate booths. The choice to renovate a former bank into Riviera was genius. The service provided by all of the front of house hosts and hostesses was top notch including but not limited to "the very cool coat guy". Our waiter Tim was the epitome of exceptional customer service. He was knowledgeable about every dish and wine selection complete with very subtle notes to expect in each glass we chose. He was knowledgeable. Funny. Honest. Available. And a gentleman. A must have is the mushrooms on toast - a simple idea yet a delicious treat. We also had the lobster spaghetti and the steak frites. The food was beyond excellent - as always - and just one of the reasons that Riviera remains my favourite restaurant in Ottawa.

The only complaint I have is our main meal which was lobster spaghetti was cold, for both of us. We did ask our waiter what he would recommend, but not very helpful.

The service (waiter Tim) was great, he was knowledgeable and quite helpful. The ambience was lovely (got to be the best in town!). The bussing staff were attentive and the front-door staff/management were quite pleasant and friendly. On the food side, my corn chowder and scallops were at best warm and my steak frites was disappointing as the steak was small for what was supposed to 10 oz and it was cooked, what I think, is medium-well rather than the medium-rare that I asked for (I am not in the habit of returning something like that and keeping my partner waiting while it is re-done). My wife's tagliatelle pasta dish was at best warm too; maybe just an issue of getting the food to the table too slowly.
