   Vibrant atmosphere. The bar experience is a must try! The service and attention to detail are above most high end restaurants. The food was exceptional, here’s to the chef. The bill was pricy, but since i prefer high end, it was not a surprise. Definitely recommend.

    This was my first time in this fantastic place; I celebrated my birthday with my wife and daughter. Aperizer ((Mushrooms on toast) was a great start; the main course (Fogo Island Cod, Lobster Spaghetti and Lamb shark) was a great selection; the presentation was good same as the taste. The finale was a must-go, so the Pavlova and the Chocolate mousse were the right to close. Al the personnel were so kind, and Veronique made us feel at home by explaining the options, always with a big smile. The music from the 80s was the perfect black hole that brought us great memories from the past. Call me from Blondie was my favourite. We will plan our next visit.

    We had the small seafood tower, the grilled octopus, and seared scallops. I'm from the east coast. The scallops were the best I ever had. It was simply sublime. The octopus as well. Not to mention their tuna crudo that is a must try. They have a very good wine selection and a decent sommelier on site. I would have loved if they had a wine paring tasting option on the menu. My only disappointment was the lobster. It was overcooked and tasteless (but keeping in mind it is out of season). Plates are a bit small but the quality of what is in it is very worthy. There is much attention to detail in plating. Consistency and temperature of the food and drinks was right on the ball. A bit pricy but expected. This place is in the top 5 best restaurants in Ottawa. The hosts and service was professional and friendly. the also accommodate special dietary needs without a fuss. For any foodie, this place is a must try. I would suggest however that they have an option of wine tasting on their menu.

    I have been wanting to try Riviera for quite some time since it ranks top 43rd restaurant according to Canada 100 Best. The ambience of the restaurant was amazing. The cocktails and the mocktails were incredible (they make their own syrups). The service was attentive but not over bearing. The evening went well until the food, and the food gradually got worse as the night goes. The tuna crudo was delicious. (My favourite dish). The octopus (appetizer) was a little bit over-cook on the chewy side. For the main, I had the Fogo Island Cod. It was dry and without flavour. The presentation was awful, it looked like the cod was swimming in a sea of brown sauce with a side of dead corals (mushroom). The sauce was overly salty while the cod is flavourless and dried. The dessert I had was the dark chocolate praline mousse with Graham 20yr port on the side. I was expecting a slightly sweet dessert but it ended with the saltiest and extremely heavy peanut butter flavour dessert I had ever had. The best part was the port. Riviera is a good place for their cocktails and their mixed drinks. I really enjoyed the drinks. But the food was definitely not their greatest strength. Top 43rd ranking is questionable.

    An amazing venue and ambience. The Room has an amazing urban vibe. Despite great table seating, the open kitchen concept had me wanting bar seating next time. The champagne and food were first class. One negative was the hostess and servers breaking down the tables once patrons finished dining. This included your server popping next door and then spraying some sort of spray cleaner on the table next door. Not in keeping with a very high end restaurant - hire some bussing staff and hood the spray! Otherwise fantastic!

    I was not sure about sitting at the bar, but wow, was I wrong! The servers were all amazing and so professional, Connor was amazing at helping choose some good dishes and drinks. The ambiance was the mvp of the night: The place is gorgeous, and the vibe is so chill. Lastly, the food was absolute class. Presentation and taste was exquisite.

    Magnifique soirée mère-filles dirigée du premier drink au dessert par notre serveur Chadi qui a su faire de ce repas une expérience unique. Les pétoncles et le tuna crudo sont des incontournables. Pour une deuxième fois au Riviera, l’ambiance et la musique du vendredi soir étaient définitivement un highlight.

    Very fun environment! We had seats at the bar and it was a lot of fun speaking to the bartenders. Our food arrived exceptionally fast and tasted amazing. We tried at least 5 incredible drinks and those alone will bring us back.

    Riveria has potential but missed the mark, mostly due to a lack of attention to ambiance. For instance, soundtrack — pop — was at odds with the elegance of the room and the acoustics of high ceilings. Given the high cost of the food one should not have to yell at one’s dinning companion. Similarly, the staff should have uniforms or at least a consistent dress code. They appear amateur, difficult to distinguish from the clientele. With more thought and attention by the management this beautiful room and its good food could be lifted from expensive and mediocre to a dinning experience worth savouring and lingering over.

    We had an absolutely splendid meal at Riviera. Not only was the food delicious but the cocktails were incredibly imaginative. We had the kind help of a sommelier to help us pick the perfect match with our meal. The service was thoughtful and efficient while the magnificent surroundings made for a perfect atmosphere for a special night out. We will definitely visit again!

    I enjoyed the food here, very rich in taste. It was expensive for small portions but it was more about the experience then it was about portion size. The service was good and the atmosphere was very casual and relaxed. It's a good place to go for special events bdays, etc

    My husband and I went for an early Valentine’s Day dinner on February 13. We’ve dined at Riviera several times before and have always enjoyed the food, service & atmosphere. Perhaps they were having an off day but this visit was disappointing. Despite it being February in Ottawa, the hostess did not offer to take our coats when we arrived or were seated. This resulted in us lumping them on the bench & seat which was less than comfortable. My husband ordered the burrata with persimmon appetizer which was extremely bland. I can’t recall the name of my main course which was essentially a breaded & fried chicken cutlet covered in a frisée salad. While the portion was generous, the flavours were basic. It was a dish that I could have received anywhere. Our agnolotti and shrimp and grits were however tasty. Water service was attentive but our main server never came to check on us and never enquired as to whether we would like additional beverages once we had finished the ones we ordered. Overall, we were quite disappointed with our visit. While we aren’t writing Riviera off, we certainly will choose other venues for special occasions. In this instance, the service and food simply did not justify the prices.

    Great place overall - very cool spot very open with old charm. Great ambiance. Music at a good level. Lots of staff and great service. Overwhelming amount of cocktails and loved all that we tried, just difficult to choose! Food was really good but I felt as if it was overpriced. Overall really enjoyed and would recommend and would come back on a date night or just for cocktails!

    The ambiance and service was great. Excellent cocktails, probably the star of the show. We had steak tar tar to start and it was great. Then we I had the snow crab sudo with skid ink spaghetti and it was only OK. I know squid ink pasta is usually a bit salty but this was a bit too much for me, the other flavors were a side note to the salt.

    My wife and I had dinner on February 11. It was my 2nd visit and her 1st. Overall, we had a decent meal, but when I compare to my first time in November 2022, some aspects were disappointing. Our waiter was very talkative, yet never actually introduced himself. He definitely had the art of the upsell, as when we asked about choices, the more expensive option was always recommended. My main course was a generous portion, but was still quite expensive when considering that it was essentially breaded chicken. I hope that our next visit will be better.

    Great welcome and cocktails. As the evening progressed, the service was erratic and slowed to almost being a case of being ignored. We weren’t demanding, just put in a request to refill the wine glasses. Plates in front of us sat for around fifteen minutes before being hesitatingly removed by a rather awkward youth. Our seafood bouillabaisse was moderately flavoured but the seafood was over cooked. The men said their steaks were fine. The appetizers were nice, but underwhelming. I was expecting a very nice evening out, but it was marred by the gaps in service and the unassuming and unimaginative dishes. Full points for a great wine and drink menu though. I’d recommend Riviera for this alone. Sit at the bar and forgo the rest
