ROAR is a restaurant rooted in rebellion. We honour the rebellious history of Tofino and we proudly rebel against the status quo. It’s the waves crashing and raging flames. It’s the roar of a rebellious nature.

This isn’t like any other restaurant. We cook with live fire, and all of our food and beverage is inspired by the local people, makers and ingredients of Tofino.

Just as you would gather with friends around the campfire, we invite you to get comfy here while we share the stories behind every one of our menu items as the fire roars in the background.

Fun, casual interior design and vibe with a fun, casual menu. We enjoyed our entrees - my lingcod was nicely cooked with a crispy sear and a very tasty veloute, fennel sauce with nice little potatoes. My husband enjoyed the chicken but found it spicier than he expected (no warning on the menu about heat level.) Our server, Joe, was courteous and friendly with a million dollar smile. The hotel’s retro vibe is a bit ambiguous - 60s? 70s? - but certainly a youthful atmosphere.

We love that you enjoyed the Ling Cod and its accompaniments. We are aiming for a retro feel, generally the 70's and happy you found it created a fun, youthful atmosphere. We made a late booking after arriving in Tofino. No problem seating is, very well looked after and food was great.

From the moment you stepped into the restaurant an experience was created. Beautiful platters with a variety of food themes. There is a place to watch the chefs cook- so efficient and detail oriented! All the staff were professionally friendly and you knew they would go above and beyond to make an enjoyable gastro moment. Food was expertly executed with interesting twists on the dishes served! A restaurant not to be missed in Tofino!

The restaurant is open plan with kitchen on view but is very much like an American diner and very noisy. One of the waiters was overly enthusiastic and whenever he spoke he was overly loud. Our server was very nice but didn’t really explain the menu just kept plugging the special which happened to be salmon and was very tasty but what she hadn’t told us and could have advised us that it didn’t come with any substantial accompaniment apart from chillies. For the cost of our meal there are far nicer restaurants in Tofino to choose .
