Authentic Italian food at reasonable prices! Very good!
Beef carpaccio was amazing. Pappardelle (a tad too salty) and risotto was very good. Creme brûlée was yummy but they torched the top so the top was warm while the bottom was cold.
Service, non-existent. Didn’t seem to care. We were seated by the patio door and they kept opening claiming that the cooks are too hot inside. Well, 2 tables of customers by the door were cold!!!
Second time there and not disappointed.. Great service and good food..
second time eating at this restaurant. flavor in the food was excellent. service was really good. the only thing that is preventing me from from giving 5 stars is that the noodles in the pasta was undercooked. even the table beside us were saying the same thing. we asked our server (at the time of ordering our entree) to ask the chef to cook the noodles a bit longer, however it was the same as the first time we ate at this restaurant. i’ve had pasta before but the noodles look like hard wires instead of the nice curvy appearance. the flavor of the sauce and ingredients tastes so great but the noodles is a 2 out of 5.
Authentic Italian experience! Like eating at any good restuarant in Italy
Our 3rd visit there - and again very enjoyable and great food!
This is a tiny little spot, with only a 'half-wall', at counter height separating the dining room from the kitchen. However, that made the dining experience really lovely - as we could sit and listen to the owner family prepare food and work together, speaking in their native Italian. The cocktail was well-made, the wine great, and the food exceptional - all at a very good value. We noticed their 'date night', set price meal for two - did not partake, but that, too, is a very good value.
Love the food! Real unadulterated fine Italian food. It’s like going to an Italian family’s home for dinner -
Food was fantastic and all staffs were very friendly! Definitely come visit again!!
You're gonna be surprised when you see this place! It's small! When you're walking/driving along Mainland, you can miss it, thinking it is part of one of the surrounding restaurants. Make a reservation. They are busy. And here's why: The food is amazing! It reminded us of our trip to Italy a couple of years ago. We got the "Date Night Special", which includes two appetizers, two mains, two desserts, and a bottle of wine, all for $122. The timing of the courses was spot-on, neither too rushed nor draggy. The food was cooked perfectly, and the bottle of wine was de-licious.
Great food and service! We had a group of 8 and everyone enjoyed their dinner.
Outstanding service. Amazing food. Great atmosphere with open kitchen for entertainment. The restaurant is very small (28 seats inside and a patio about the same size) and they had an open kitchen so we were able to watch the chefs cook up our delicious meal. I had the Pappardelle “Rosche Rosche” and Spaghetti Alla Carbonara and it was amazing (wish they had a bigger portion so I could enjoy it more but I also eat a lot so 🙈). Our servers were so great- attentive but not too intrusive, and they were all so hospitable. The menu is small with some variety and fair prices. I would definitely come back for the food and service. 100% recommend ☺️
This is a jewel. It took me back to my favorite restaurant experiences in Italy -- a small interior (they might seat 20 inside); attentive servers; a short, selective wine list and menu; freshly made pasta, and, as you will see if you sit near the open kitchen, every dish is carefully made to order. Both times I ate here, the waiter or waitress brought me a clean knife and fork after the salad course -- why is this so rare? I recommend the Salad Celeste and the ragu.
The space was a little small but it gave it a cozy feel. The staff were great and the food was Devine.
We had the date night special ($122) which included 2 appies, 2 mains, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine. Everything was top notch quality, it was DELICIOUS, with authentic Italian servers. The vibe was so warm, personal and ambient. It was perfect for our anniversary and we will 100% be back.
The staff was accommodating and super friendly. We had a reservation and they were kind enough to call and ask if we wanted to come in earlier. However, we then felt super rushed and felt the urgency to leave immediately after paying our bill. We ordered different dishes and agreed that the food was fine but not exceptional if we compare it to other Italian restaurants in the city. I cannot speak to the wine list but we were all very happy with our drinks. Overall, it was a nice experience but we are in no rush to return.
Recommended as an authentic Italian cuisine and it lived up to our expectations actually exceeded it. Staff very knowledgeable advising both on food and wine menu. We were abit hesitant about the outdoor seating but it was the best. A European feel. Loved it.
Cozy restaurant with an open-concept kitchen which created a visual presentation of the delicious, hearty food we received. The server was knowledgeable and made a perfect wine recommendation. The risotto was absolutely delicious and the gnocchi very tasty. A wonderful Italian experience for those who enjoy a warm atmosphere and authentic dishes.
Great place to eat, super yummy fresh pasta and very friendly staff.
Truly a gem in Vancouver. I’m just blown away with how delicious their pastas are and how tiny the kitchen is. We drove up from Seattle just to eat here and will definitely make the same trip again!
Great Italian food and good service. The place is small with ample outside seating space. They have a good variety of pastas, with freshly made sauces. I felt the quantity of food was a little less than average.
Sangria wasn't the best, it was very diluted and had a lot of ice - tasted more like a lemonade with wine.
Great evening of dining on the patio. Inside seating is relatively small so probably wise to make a reservation if you want indoors. For us, the outdoor patio was great and has some covering for protection from the weather elements. We enjoyed all our food - especially the Papperdel pasta dish on the main menu. Service was both efficient and friendly. We like this neighbourhood gem and try to visit 3 - 4 times a year. Highly recommend.
Three summers ago, my wife and I went on a vacation to the Amalfi Coast in Italy. It's the only vacation we've ever been on where we didn't want to come home. Part of the reason was THE PASTA. When we dined at Robba da Matti the other night, we were transported back to Positano for an hour or so. THE PASTA!!!! Christine, the chef/owner, told us that she does not compromise. She wants her guests to have the true Italian experience and she delivers. She makes all the pasta in the restaurant on her magic pasta machine. I enjoyed the Spaghetti al la Griglio and my wife enjoyed the Spaghetti Carbonara. Each bite was a bit of heaven. I'm afraid that if I go in to too much detail, I'll have to drop everything and head over there now without completing my work. Suffice it to say, it's an amazing culinary experience at Robba da Matti and we're definitely going back.
Warm, cozy little place, tucked away in Yaletown. Italian comfort food; tried the Bruschetta Leccete, the Pappardelle and the Tiramisu. The appetizer was the highlight for creativity and balance.
Crowded seating. We were seated at a table in front of the door & it was uncomfortably cold throughout our meal. The table was also in close proximity to the dishwashing station & I had wait staff leaning over my back repeatedly. Then I had to carry a large spoon with a key attached in order to use the bathroom. The wait staff was attentive. Now, onto the food...the menu is limited but the prosciutto & fig bruschetta was a unique &tasty appetizer. The spaghetti alla carbonara was a perfectly dine classic & my husband enjoyed his seafood pasta. The wine menu is not abundant but the available wines were quite good.
Authentic home-made pasta. Even gluten-free options.
The restaurant is small but busy! Yusef and Mateo were excellent in their quality of service and ability to care for our table despite being very busy. Great food!!
The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the wine was great.
However, I am not a fan of the patio. The space is so small that waiters and customers were constantly bumping into our table and chairs. The worst, however, was that we were seated directly under the heater. It was not a cold day- maybe 55 degrees Fahrenheit- but the heater never turned off. I got so uncomfortably hot that I had to go stand outside to cool off. It’s unfortunate that this small thing overshadowed what was otherwise a lovely meal, but it really was quite bothersome. As for the space, perhaps it’s just the tables that are in the middle of the patio. If you go, I recommend you sit inside or at one of the tables on the perimeter of the patio.
My friends and I went there on a Sunday night for the Taste of Yaletown festival. All three of us had the $45 three course dinner and for us the highlight of the menu was the beef carpaccio, but that was pretty much it. All the entrees were bland, the sauces had nothing special to remember and my risotto was very mushy, too runny for my taste. The panna cotta was delicious but the chocolate mousse didn't have the silky texture it should have.
Service was OK but for the price we paid we were expecting excellent service, bold, rich flavours and overall a great experience considering the other Taste of Yaletown menus available for the same price, for example, La Pentola which was exceptionally good. With so many good options nearby I would not recommend this place nor come back again.
My food was no good. But my friend had a great order. And her food was amazing.
Best pasta in Vancouver. Great atmosphere and friendly authentic staff.
This is a gem of a restaurant. The service was friendly and staff obliging and knowledgeable. The food was excellent and came piping hot. We ended up eating far more than usual. A definite destination place for us .
Fabulous, authentic Italian gem in Yaletown. Marvellous heated patio & cozy interior. Extremely friendly & personable service. We have a marvellous time & never felt rushed - given plenty of time to savour & enjoy the scrumptiously prepared food. Top marks!
The best pasta in Town 😍,Highly recommended! 👌👌👌
Excellent and authentic home cooked Italian dishes. Very friendly and attentive servers. The pastas are cooked to perfection and the ingredients fresh and delicious. Great value. Will be going back.
First time there. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Had bruscetta and carpaccio for starters and seafood risotto and osso buco with risotto. Very tasty! Definitely going back. And.....tirimisu for dessert - yummy.
Amazing authentic restaurant!
Food was really fresh and authentic Italian. Generous amount of main ingredients. Had a risotto, slightly salty and could have put in more rice in the dish or getting an appetizer is recommended in my opinion.
BEST Italian food in Vancouver- truly authentic. The atmosphere is romantic and cozy-yet fun. The patio is charming. A perfect date spot or to catch up with a friend.
