Food quality was good. We were 6 people. They brought the meal for 3 of us. The rest were served after 30 minutes.
Fantastic food and service -- reminded me very much of my time in Italy. Can't say enough about how truly delicious the pasta was. I had the SPAGHETTI ALLO SCOGLIO, ample selection of seafood with a touch of heat and it was incredible. For our antipasti we started with the BRUSCHETTA LECCESE which was a new take on an old favourite. The mixture of proscuitto, gorgonzola and fig jam (with pine nuts) were delectable and set the tone for the rest of the meal. I most definitely will be back.
Had a business lunch for a group of 11 - service was spot on. Prompt, attentive, and we were in and out in 1.5 hours including appies, pasta, desserts and coffee. Food was delicious - pasta was al dente and fresh, burrata was lovely. Only downside is one side of the table became progressively hotter as the full sun hit it. Also there's only one beer option - the Peroni (italian). Would be nice to have a couple more options, especially sitting in the sun. Great experience though - would dine again!
Food was delicious & portions were good
Reserved for a special occasion (birthday) but not so great for a special date. Usually restaurants do an extra for us for a special dinner when I book for a birthday dinner... i.e. server says “happy birthday” to me or happy bd message on dessert plate etc, just a small attention, but seems like no one cares here. But food was generally good.
Would be good for a normal date or weekend eat-out.
Good Italian food, fresh pastas, friendly staff! Must try.
Amazing food!! Very friendly staff. Would definitely go again.
Our waiter was great and everything was prompt. We have been here four times and love it.
Food was amazing, service was great, kitchen manager was warm and friendly! Would definitely return!
Really enjoyed our evening at Robba da Matti - food was excellently prepared and the ingredients were top notch.
We really enjoyed our dinner Saturday eve- the food was fresh and authentic with very friendly, professional service. It was a bit loud sitting outside with a large party of 12 behind us but overall I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We Celebrated by Friend's birthday at Robba's and the staff were amazing about handling our large group, ensuring amazing service for us the entire time. While the restaurant does not have a lot of seating, they accommodated our larger group very well and the staff were just lovely and professional. I would definitely consider them again for another special occasion.
Just got back from a wedding in Italy and this place is as close as you can get to real Italian food in Canada. Love the place
This tiny place deserves its accolades. High quality ingredients, prepared with care and artfully displayed, were served by a team of friendly, efficient folks from hostess to head chef, who was possibly also proprietress. House-made pasta was excellent. Reviewers who prefer their noodles soft and soggy have many mediocre Italian places that will accommodate them - please leave tables open at Robba’s for those of us who appreciate the toothsome delights offered here. Our arugula salad had just the right dash of lemony olive oil to allow the young greens to shine through. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
I love how it felt I was in Italy. You can taste the love in all the food! Great experience! Will definitely be coming back soon!
I really enjoyed my dinner, unfortunately some of our party were very disappointed with the meal.
Food was great. Service not so good.
There was no engagement with our server and all
The food was rushed. It was a very hurried meal.
Spaghetti Allo Scoglio is awesome.
We had a dinner for 12 here after all day meetings. The restaurant is on the small size but they were able to accommodate our group.
LOCATION: Yaletown next to multiple restaurants and brewpubs
AMBIANCE: There is outdoor and indoor seating. The vibe is casual and lively. The kitchen is small and open. You can literally see and hear the staff cooking your food.
FOOD: We ordered an assortment of antipasti in addition to our mains. Recommend - Yaletown Antipasto platter if you have at least 3 people to share (there is a large assortment of salumi), 2 types of bruschetta (the leccese version with cheese is a nice counterbalance to the pomodoro version), pesto pasta with burrata (I think this was a special and not on main menu), osso bucco with risotto tasted like the versions I have had in Milan, the lobster & crab ravioli, and the Ranu genovese.
I debated whether to give a 4 or 5 - should probably be 4.5. However, when I factor in the reasonable prices, the food is even more impressive.
SERVICE: The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Service was casual but attentive which is consistent with the restaurant.
VALUE: For the price, this is one of the best Italian meals I have had recently. I live in San Francisco so I am used to a high level of regional Italian cuisine. Our entire group of 12 (6 locals, 6 SF Bay Area) gave the restaurant a thumbs up.
Very cozy, intimate restaurant. Food was authentic Italian, service was excellent.
Didnt realize this was the old L’Antipasto place. It’s Junuary and my friends and I were craving carbs. We shared a burrata caprese and i got a rigatoni with burrata on top. Chefs did not skimp on the burrata. Pretty good portions for the price. The highlight was the really attentive and friendly service
Every dish we had was above expectations. Great price. Have to try everything here
All 4 in our party thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The food was fresh- well presented and service was good. The waiter was attentive and helpful when asked questions regarding the various meals. Would definitely return!
Good value of home cooked pasta with many options. Wine list with lots of Italian wines.
I was looking forward to trying Robba da Matti as it looked authentically Italian. It had been a warm week at the end of May and it was uncomfortably hot for this Vancouverite as we had our table inside. Since it's open kitchen, AC would be kind of waste of money. I would recommend sitting outside if you don't like the heat.
We had appetizers. I had the prosciutto and burrata. The burrata was phenomenal. The prosciutto was dry like it had been cut a day or so ago and it was too thick. My friend had the Yaletown Antipasto. The cheeses were great. The sliced meats some were dry while others were perfect. It came on a wooden plate and enough for two people for sure.
We all ordered something different. I had the Lobster/Crab Raviolo. It tasted great but it was swimming in butter. I can appreciate having things cooked in it but too much butter overpowers the delicate flavour of the crab and lobster. By the end of the meal I just tasted butter. It was a good portion.
My partner also had the same issue with his Osso Buco. The rice was very buttery and not enough parmigiano flavour to it. The osso was fine. Two had the pappardelle, one the risotto alla pescatora and one spaghetti allo scoglio. The risotto pescatora could have had a bit more fish and risotto. I heard the other dishes were great and they said theirs didn't taste too buttery. So that was good.
One of us had the customary tiramisu. It was good but not exceptionally. It also didn't taste fresh fresh.
I haven't decided if I am going back. The heat and butter turned me off. I may wait till September to try this spot again. The flavours are good it's just it seems like they missed on some of the little touches. This could be and may already be a neighbourhood gem.
Enjoyed the atmosphere on the patio! Casual and fun. Excellent pasta.
Absolutely tremendous, authentic Italian dining. Home-made pasta, fresh seafood... I'll be back!
Always great, recent change in menu reduced vegetarian options and they were not flexible to accommodate for that.
We had a friendly and attentive server. Delicious proscuitto and carpaccio appetizers.
Wow! Fantastic in every respect.
The food was delicious however we came at a bad time as staff were trying to provide "constructive criticism" to one another that appeared more like arguing. It felt uncomfortable to be there.
This is a great Italian restaurant. Location was good. We stayed at the JW Marriott and it was a short walk to the restaurant.
I would definitely go back.
Robba da Matti never misses. Great food, outstanding service and perfectly paired wines. Nothing over the top ... just a good, quality experience.
Service was very good. Nice drinks, good (and reasonable) wine. Caprese salad and Bruschetta were awesome! My pesto spaghetti was good but my husband's pappardelle was fabulous. He said it reminded him of pasta his Italian grandmother would serve. Dinner was topped off by nice hot, strong cappuccinos. Totally recomend!
The patio is small but the didn't matter once we were seated. Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable. We ordered the date night dinner, 2 appys 2 mains 2 deserts and a bottle of wine. From the fresh mozzarella to fresh pasta to the lightest mousse I have tasted, everything was wonderful. My sweetie had the carbonara which he said was very good, I had read reviews recommending the lobster and crab ravioli and was not disappointed from the fresh pasta to the wonderful filling and the authentic sauce (quite spicy). We made reservations and were glad as the trendy neighborhood was very busy and it was nice to "watch the world go by".
Excellent as usual. But I am going to miss my favorite waiter there. He was so friendly, attentive and personable.
New name...new menu, sort of. New name...bad service. It took over 1/2 an hour to get a glass of wine for some moms on a night out, which is not acceptable. Food was ok, carbonara was very peppery and the BRUSCHETTA AL POMODORO used to be a lot better at l'antipasta.
Girls night out to see the Eagles with dinner here beforehand. The only glitch occurred because they changed our waiter half way through so she was very confused when we wanted separate checks. All of the food we had was magnificent with a special shout out to the Burrata Caprese starter - beyond amazing! We also shared the bruschetta, antipasto, and lobster crab ravioli. The sangria was lovely as was the Chianti. Panna cotta for dessert was also lovely. No complaints, will be back.
I wrote a much longer review but the internet ate it.
One of the most enjoyable restaurant experiences all three of us have had in a while! We were all wowed and want to come back.
I have some kind of wheat allergy, and I had no issues with the gluten free pasta option.
I will be looking for excuses to bring friends here!
