I’ll become very partial to this special corner in our city, Montreal. I admit it. But I’ve a very good excuse for it. I grew up in that part of Greece, the southeastern-most islands of which Rodos is most important, -known also as Rhodes- for its historic contribution to knowledge and civilization. I spend my high school years there. I have some visitors from there.
“Rodos Restaurant!” struck me at once on your list.
The cuisine is genuinely that of the islands, the decor represents the architecture with the heavy arched columns and the unmistakable huge urns that our grandparents and great-great…great grandparents all the way to the Minoans and Mycenaeans, used to store their supplies.
Another stand out was the colorful hand-crafted plates that abound on the walls locally produced until the 1950’s that are now collectors’ items even in the Islands. My friends were amazed by the decor and the ambiance of this particular restaurant in Montreal. Then came the food and the service that made everyone happy. “I would have never imagined” said Kyriakos, my visiting friend “that I would find so much Rodos in Canada”.
The food was fantastic as it is was prepared to everyone’s taste: The Meat Platter with choice of meats to please the various tastes and preferences. in meat ‘entrees’ as well as the Fish Platter with a variety of sea food. We are islanders and we know sea food. Then came the main dish that catered to every one’s taste prepared right there fresh and hot from chef George. To cap it all we tasted their desserts: Loukoumades, luscious Baklava and the other delicacies all prepared on the premises.
And their prices are very reasonable by Montreal standards.
Thank you, Open Tables, for the listings and for making the reservations.
Very good food, great service !!
The Lady who served our table was very nice and food was really great
Amazing entrée and dessert !!! Very nice atmosphere.
My date & I enjoyed a super tasty & fresh seafood platter of octopus, shrimp & calamari along with a pikilia that included scrumptious breaded zucchini & sliced eggplant. The portions were perfect and the warm & welcoming atmosphere was legit old-school Greek village. LOVED IT! I wish I had more friends who liked seafood so I could go to RODOS more often!
Trop d’ail, purée de pomme de terre comme trempette... calmars frits caoutchouteux...
An amazing authentic Greek restaurant. The food was perfectly prepared. From the appetizers , Greek salad and main dishes(we had lamb chops and sword fish) . Great selection of Greek wines! Thank you for a lovely evening!
This is classic Greek food. Superb grilled bass, octopus. A honey loukoumades for dessert. Everyrthing fresh. And nothing but private importation Greek wines. Why fly there?
The worst service! The lady who served us was rude! The food was tasteless and the grilled octopus came cold and tasted very fishy. We were so turned off from the appetizers that we didn't even order any mains. We left right away.
Service way too long and expensive for that kind of restaurant/food.
The restaurant was decorated very well with endless shells that I loved and other nice things, also waitress was very nice and the food was good! My partner and I will definitely be back!
The service was excellent and the ambiance serene and relaxing. There was not the hustle and bustle of the very busy restaurants.
We had swordfish that looked real fresh and delicious as well as lamb chops juicy and succulent.
All told not only I will recommend it to my friends, but we will there return again and again. It is our second visit there but we'll make it one of our regular spots.
Very good meal. Everything was fresh and tasty. The snapper was perfect!
We had the restaurant to ourselves, it felt like being in someone's home. Very attentive service
Very nice and interesting
Food was delicious! Service was very nice. It's a bit pricey, but very good quality. Would certainly go back!
Great Greak fare with a large variety of appetizers and main portions. Very generous portions. You cannot leave hungry.
This was a great restaurant. The food was delicious and beautifully plated. Excellent service too. Would go back in a heartbeat.
The food was good, but overpriced. We had the “fish platter for two”, which really was only a small-sized fish preceded by a couple of small pieces of vegetables and a small bowl of greek salad. For that, we spent around 100$ (for the food only). We were disappointed. The Greek salad, however, was very good. Our meal was worth about half the price we paid.
Another wonderful evening at what has become one of my favorite restaurants.
What a joy having dinner at RODOS was!
At first we were worried by the lack of clientele, but once we had been seated and our appetizers started arriving, we realized we had no reason at all to worry. I say started arriving because each appetizer came as it was prepared, for all of us to share and finish just as the next arrived. Talk about relaxed! Wisely, we were not asked about mains until after the appetizers had come and gone. By then a couple of us were full and ready for nothing more than a salad. But not any salad, a lovely Greek salad with generous slabs of Feta cheese and plump Kalamata olives. We were recommended and enjoyed a very nice wine, Atlantis from Santorini, and those of us with a healthier appetite enjoyed to delicious sea bass. We were graciously allowed to move to a table outdoors on the terrace for the rest of our banquet. Everybody had desert, the baklava was good and the loukoumades even better.
We will definitely be going back soon.
We had a great meal, and all of the extra attention from the owners was amazing. they were warm, lovely people who shared their life stories with us. the wine list (although all greek) was great, and georgia did an amazing job of recommending wines we would like based on varietals we told her we were used to drinking. the food was delicious, from the fresh greek salad to the moussaka and then the fried doughnut desert which was such a hit with the kiddos. we sat outside on the porch as we were the only patrons when we arrived, and it seemed empty to be in a larger space with no other people dining. that would be my only real complaint; i anticipate that they are busier during the weekend. it was nice to have all the personal attention though, and likely resulted in faster service as georgia was the only server when we were there!
Classic Greek taverna with nice atmosphere and good, but not great food. Pricey for what just an okay dining experience. Service was charming by I assume one of the owners, but more staff would have made for a better experience. Just 1 waitress for the place on a Saturday night.
Grilled fish was fresh and good, the prawns were average (likely frozen). They either need to up their game in terms of food quality and service, or reduce their prices to warrant a 5 star review.
Classic greek food cooked by the family-owned business. They make you feel like you're in Greece!
Went to RODOS Restaurant a week ago and throughly enjoyed our dinner! We've been to many Greek restaurants in Montreal but this was the best. First, the atmosphere is exquisite, with authentic folk art and decor making you feel you are actually on the island of Rhodes. The owners (and chefs), George and Georgina make you feel like you are their private guests and make excellent recommendations from their menu. The food is super fresh and includes wonderful mezedes (Greek hors d'oeuvres) such as kolokithakia (fried zucchinis), dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and horiatiki (the real Greek salad). The menu is mainly selection of fresh fish and seafood, but you can also get some meat dishes like lamb and moussaka. We opted for the hors d'oeuvres and some Calamari and shrimp. We had galaktoboureka (Greek custard pie) and loukoumades (small doughnuts) for dessert which were so good! They have a good selection of wines from Greece and can of course serve you good Greek coffee. Highly recommended. We'll definitely go back.
Attentive service from George and Georgia who own the restaurant. George, the chef, even came out to greet us, a nice touch.
The best stuffed vine leaves I have ever tasted were followed by perfectly grilled oyster mushrooms and red bell peppers. Next up was a surf and turf plate featuring one succulent lamb chop and one jumbo shrimp, both grilled and both very tasty. Then came the main course, a perfect piece of swordfish nicely charred on the outside, juicy and flavourful on the inside, with a medley of vegetables. All this was accompanied by a refreshing white wine from Santorini.
Desert of home-made galaktoboureko and Greek coffee rounded out a delightful evening.
Tres frais , service excellent . Coup de cœur !!!
Excellent atmosphere been going to this resto since I was in my teens with my parents; now at 55 I still go with my family and friends;
Amazing food
Food was wonderful
We happened to dine here on the night of a storm and therefore had the place to ourselves. The owners are a lovely couple and gavr good wine suggestions. Food was delicious and freshly prepared. You could hear the zucchini being friend in the kitchen.
I just returned from a trip to the Greek Islands and wanted a meal keeping within the spirit of Greece. Rodos certainly delivered! The husband was in the kitchen and the wife served us. They were both so hospitable and accommodating. It was great value for the money. Food was all authentic and tasty! I'll go back again.
The food was great. We had the sea bass, shrimp and chicken as our mains. That came with fries and veggies. All yummy. We started with the house salad, lightly fried veggies and tsaziki.
The tiramisu cake was to die for. It was quiet for a Saturday night. Nice family run restaurant. Dad cooked and mom served. Comfortable Greek decor.
We had an amazing meal of whole fresh fish, Greek mezes and salads. The wine from Santorini was a great compliment to the meal. We finished the meal with freshly made lokoumades and complimentary drinks of mastiha. The service was friendly and non-intrusive. All in all and great nights with our friends meeting us in Montreal from Pennsylvania.
La moussaka était à tomber à la renverse, même ma grand-mère n'aurait pas fait mieux!!!
Cuisine traditionnelle, recettes familles..... restaurant à essayer rapidement.
J'ai vraiment aimée mon expirience, bonne bouffe, bon service et très chaleureux.
Pleasant place, tasty fresh mediterranean food, nice lady who serves. A good address to keep !
Wonderful!!
The food was very good. The decor is very nice and quaint . However, the restaurant was practically empty so that was weird. The waitress seemed like perhaps the owner . She was very slow to serve us and we were in the restaurant overall for a long time. It's a shame the service is not good and that the resto is empty because the food is good and decor is nice. Maybe they need to spruce up their service or do something different to attract new clients.
